If they weren't the ONLY option in the Lamorinda area, I doubt they'd be in business. As long as you don't want access to your unit on a Sunday, it's fine. They decided that NO one needs ACCESS after 3:45PM ON SUNDAY! The voicemail message says 5:45 but there is a little sign by the gate keypad that says 3:45. Sorry if you packed up a load or wanted to get your stuff and called to check hours. Sucks to be you. It's asinine! It's not like someone has to be there to "man the gate" someone just made a stupid, decision. Customers be damned. It's not worth the cost or convenience unless you are doing a "one time" load. Otherwise go a little farther for better quality, value and ACCESS! read more

I've been storing my items here for over 5 years. While the place is well maintained and clean the main reason I won't give this place 5 stars is the religious agenda being pushed onto its customers who are just trying store items. Huge banners bluntly pushing Jesus and locking the yard's gate/lockbox (all automated) on Easter is very frustrating to someone who is tolerant of everyone's beliefs and works hard to pay for their storage unit. If you're going to close an extra day during denominational holidays there should be a discount for that month. read more

Easy to deal with. Equipment was conveniently stored and easy to use. Facility was very clean. Be sure to see where your unit is! Ours was at the very end of a long corridor and on the second floor. There's a freight-only elevator, but it was not nearly as convenient as a ground floor unit. (My spouse made the arrangements, and I'm guessing that ground-floor units cost more). read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! It's as if they have 2 different shifts of employees working there, one that is competent and the other, not so much. I had a small space that was reserved for me until Saturday (4 days away) to allow me until the next day to complete the required paperwork. The next day, my husband agreed to stop by after work to complete the paperwork and pay the deposit. Sounds simple enough, right? Nope. He was greeted by 2 employees who, although they could find my name and phone number in the "system", they could not locate the unit number their co-worker had assigned the previous day. I wouldn't think this is such a big deal but rather than find another unit for us, they went round and round with my husband, not helping him rent a unit but arguing with him about the misunderstanding between their own employees from the previous day. My husband left, frustrated and no storage unit. Instead of taking care of the business that I set out to do that evening, I called the storage unit to find out why there was such an issue. The gentleman who answered and could hardly speak English, did the same thing with me, going round and round and throwing in a couple of "I'm sorry". I kept asking him if they couldn't find the unit number that had been assigned to me, why they couldn't just offer him another unit. I didn't get a straight answer. Something so simple as renting a storage unit shouldn't be the equivalent of taking the Bar exam. Needless to say, I was ticked off of the lack of customer service and the incompetency on the other end of the phone that I took my business to Lafayette Central Storage where I was greeted and rented a storage unit from a professional company. A storage facility that is clean, neat, much more modern and a project manager that was amazing. I'll drive the few extra miles and pay a little more for this kind of facility and service. read more

We just moved out of our unit after 5 months, and oddly, I will miss coming here! It is the best run, cleanest and safest storage company I've used. Everything is so well maintained, there is not a corner unpainted, and despite recent rainstorms, the interior of the unit was bone dry. When I moved out the last box, I didn't bother to lock the door. Within minutes, I received a phone call making sure everything was ok. At Christmas-time, they even have a gift wrapping station, so Santa can wrap gifts in peace. read more

When our new furniture was being delivered way ahead of schedule and before construction was completed at our condo, I had about a day to find offsite storage space for it. I visited 5A Rent-A-Space right down the hill in Moraga and was shown several units in different sizes by incredibly-helpful Sean. The paperwork to rent a unit took only about 10 minutes and I was out the door. A day later, the delivery guys were able to pull right up to the building and whisk the furniture up to the 2nd floor via the freight elevator. The whole move-in took about 20 minutes. The entire complex is so clean and there is a manager who actually lives on site. My particular unit was spotless, as were the hallways and staircase in the building. I've never used a storage facility before and this first experience has exceeded my wildest expectations. read more

This is a very high priced storage facility. Read the contract carefully - they do not prorate the monthly fees when you move out. They don't make that clear when you sign up either! read more
