Avoid this place at all costs!!! This place told me they would do my oil change and inspection. I am a teacher and told them that I would drop off at 10:45(my break) and pick it up between 2-2:30. I got there at 2:15 just to find my car in the exact spot that I left it. Before I left I asked them to call me if they think it would not be ready and nobody even took the time to reach out before I walked over there. The only solution they could offer was asking me to bring it back tomorrow, and they refused to guarantee whether they would be able to do it tomorrow. What kind of service is this? I am approaching the 55K mark and I travel often and long distances, and recently the car did not shift properly. I was nervous and called AAMCO for a check up. They gave me an appointment the next day. Checked the transmission fluid, told me it was still ok, but I could change it because it was approaching the 60K recommended change. I ask for a price range and was given the researched price. I authorized the labor and in two hrs total I was out of the place. The staff is very friendly. One of the guys, possibly the head mechanic/mgr gave me a tip for never having a problem with catalytic converters is to use 93 gas. He told me that they were checking all other fluids levels, and that the car was ready. I went in to get a quote to rebuild my transmission but they ended up telling me I have an electrical problem. They kept my car 3 days for that? It seemed they wanted to charge for more stuff. I took my car somewhere else and was told there wasn't any electrical problem. Malek got angry, was rude and unprofessional. Keith and Cindy were not much better. Don't settle for bad service. I cant say enough good things about the Aamco on Atlantic Ave. Malek is a good and honest person. He and his team are friendly, honest and reliable. I brought my car there after having been at another shop. Malek looked my whole car over and gave recommended repairs (all valid) but never tried to scare me into changing anything . In the end he repaired my starter which I needed, and said to come back when I was ready to do the other work. The other thing I liked is that he took the time to explain what was going wrong with the car and why. His pricing was also very reasonable. Being a female its hard to find a good shop that respects you and will be honest in dealing with you., but Malek is a gentleman. Ladies- you can go here and will be well taken care of. I completely understand why my warranty company (SilverRock) has them as their main provider because the customer service is excellent (Keith), he conversed with me the entire time I waited and offered advice that I'll preserve in the future and the owners are fantastic to say the least (get to know them). They were honest. Told me for now to keep an eye on it and to bring it back in 10days. It might not need anything serious. Unlike Star where they wanted $5,100 to replace. They then told me I had to fix minor things. Some which I new about others I had no idea because my previous service center never told me about.... Needless to say I found my new auto repair home! PLEASE READ REVIEW IN FULL Completely unprofessional. My LEXUS RX 350 was given in on Thursday June 10, 2021. They never called me back with the updated info. I went back there on Friday, June 18, 2021 in the morning, they made me wait for an hour before coming to talk to me, and turns out, they didn't even manage to repair my car in the time given or give me any updates on how long it would take. The amount was approximately $900. When I went there afternoon, it took half an hour to get my Car which was outside of the shop double parking on street. After 3 minutes driving, I saw the dashboard was showing "economy off" and there is a scratch on right side of the car. I had to double park again on a busy street, and called Hector. He came and saw the scratch and dashboard. He told me Malek will come. I was waiting more than half an hour for Malek, and I went there asking Hector how much time do I need to wait. Malek and Hector both got mad. Yelling at me both together. I was supposed to go my work 8PM, and they made me late. The yelling was unprecedented, RUDE, and unprofessional. It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, and I did NOT receive any apology. Malek came and didn't pay attention about the scratch. I was surprised. Malek and Hector are taking on more than they can chew. Example - in a day they may be able to provide service for twenty cars. But they are taking in more than 70 cars regardless, even though they know they cannot fix them all in a timely manner. If you go there, Hector is always complaining that they are overwhelmed, and he is trying to talk to the customers in person and other customers on the phone at the same time. With sympathy for service workers, I understand it can be overwhelming, but hire more people. It makes no sense to have only 2 people working when you are taking on 70 cars a day. It makes for a bad experience on both sides. You don't know when your car will be repaired, they do not give you an accurate cost off the bat, and every time you ask about it, they keep increasing the price. THEY GET THE BAD REVIEWS DELETED! THEY DONT GIVE TWO CRAPS ABOUT YOUR TIME! THE MANAGER IS A BOLD FACED LIAR!!!!!!!!!!! Horrible service even worse is they are all lying, soulless bitches. Walked in one dy to see if I needed an appointment. I was told by "the secretary" that I can either set an apt or do the first come first served. I decided to set an appointment to avoid the hassle. Well there was red flags from the moment "the secretary" said you'll need to leave your car and there is no guarantee what "day" you'll be receiving it back (mind you I just wanted them to do a diagnose on the car) I would have then discussed what will need to be done after. Seeing as I wasn't a fan of being separated from my car for days as it's my only means of getting around I was told to come in the next dy as soon as they open and if I was the first there I'd be the first seen so I wouldn't have to worry about leaving the car for more than a couple hours (unless I had to get work done on it) again the decision was to test drive and look into the vehicle first. Well I took true to the word and was there at 4am waiting until 8am (because I was told there would be a line of people also waiting, which was true). I filled out my paperwork and went home. A couple hours later 11am to be exact I called in to see what time I should be bk to receive the car (it's labor dy weekend so leaving my car till Tuesday was absolutely not an option) and seeing as my car was the first in for the dy I didn't expect that to be the situation. Anyhow I was told by "the manager" that the car was still being checked out and to give them another hour and a half, well what they didn't know was I have an app connected to my car that tells me where it's at and how long it's been there, surprisingly I looked and it said my car has been parked where I left it for them and hasn't been moved since then. I made my way there and sure enough there is was (not being checked out like "the manager" claimed it was) and as I got closer to it I saw the mechanic now pulling it out of the parking and bringing it into the garage. Well being sleep deprived from trying to be the first there and finding out that those that came in after me was seen and gone emotions began to rise. Long story short a couple words were exchanged (lots of lies from "the manager's" part) and after a couple of minutes and lots of words he admitted to lying to me the whole time, which I already knew and had proof of ‍ I was then told by "the manager" that I can just take my car and go (mad because I caught him in a whole lie) I did exactly that. I went there because my 2008 Mercury Mountaineer was sounding an alarm to have you fix it ASAP, my dashboard lit up like a Christmas Tree and that annoying alarm !! So I took it there after having a couple other Mechanic Quote me saying it had todo with my AWD system, ABS , Traction Control ,& my airbags!! I took it to 2009 Atlantic Avenue Amaco Transmission and they told me it was just a sensor & it was the left front Bearing which was replaced , any how I took the car when I got off the highway I heard a noise coming from that new Bearing anyway I called the shop and spoke with Cindy and Malek who informed me not to take a chance driving it and sent a Flatbed Tow truck to the other side of Brooklyn, picked up my Truck and replaced Bearing without any additional charge , where if any other shop would have hid from my phone calls , and have me drive a dangerous vehicle back to that shop !!! i dropped my '02 volvo xc70 off on a tuesday for a transmission fluid change. it was in perfect condition but it had 66k miles and i had been advised to change the fluid in the awd haldex transmission. malik called wednesday morning and told me the trans was fine but i needed tie rods ($700). i said ok and we agreed that i would pick up the car at the end of the week. on fri morning, he tells me that he couldn't do the fluid change because my trans was slipping in third. i was imagining some minor thing that i hadn't noticed before. he didn't want to touch it and said he put in an additive that might help. the first thing that i noticed when i picked up the car was that the clock was blank. that only happens when someone disconnects the battery. the car was undriveable. as soon as it shifted into third (5spd.), it started free revving. the transmission error came on within a couple of blocks. they had obviously messed up my transmission and reset the battery to hide the warning light. i decided that since they were incompetent and liars there was no reason to bring it back to them. if they had admitted what they did (probably put in the wrong transmission fluid) when i came in, i would have worked with them and even been willing to pay something towards the repair - parts, etc. i knew i couldn't prove my case in court, so i decided to cut my losses and move on. there is another shop, precision transmission, down the street. i limped the car there by manually shifting between first and second. even though, eric, the owner, was closing, he took pity on me and ran a quick diagnostic and kept the car over the weekend. a week later i had a beautifully rebuilt awd drive transmission and i was $4200 poorer. long story short: do not trust these aamco clowns with your car! p.s. yelp doesn't let you give less than one star or i would have given them a zero. read more

If you had asked me a few months ago whether I would be writing a positive review for this institution, I'm not sure what I would have said. But all's well that appears to have ended well! I brought my car, which wouldn't reverse, in to AAMCO after the local dealer told me I could take an appointment 10 days hence. What can you do with a car that won't reverse in NYC? Seriously, you can't even park it in a garage. The transmission? Well, it got fixed. Then my check engine light was on (even though it hadn't been when the car refused to move backwards). Then I drove the car around. Then the transmission got fixed again (thank heavens for warranties). So why is this a positive review? Because throughout this travail, the owner of this shop (Tom, I believe) could not have been more accommodating, even paying for a rental vehicle during the latter repair - something that was quite a relief when one would otherwise have a 4 hour daily commute. Further kudos are due to staff members Cindy and Malik, who no doubt wanted to run and hide when they saw me repeatedly walking through the door. read more

In September, 2012, they replaced my entire transmission for $3500. There is no way my '04 Toyota Matrix should need a new transmission at 57K miles, but that's another story. They did a nice job and the car ran great til this week when the Check Engine Light came on. I had the code pulled, found out what it was, found my receipt, and went back. We were past the warranty date. They replaced the torque converter and didn't charge me! In all the garages I've been in through all the cars I've had, this had never happened to me before. I thought I had major transmission problems, but they were completely honest and forthright in telling me my car only needed a simple adjustment, in which they gave me a free tutorial and refused to let me tip them. I have a 2002 Honda Accord. Brought it in because of a whirling/clanking noise coming from the rear right wheel. I assumed my brakes because they haven't been changed in a good while and about 2 years ago this same establishment said that I would need new rear brakes soon. At the time I appreciated the honesty and figured I would return to them to fix my noise issue and my AC. They check my car and say that the noise is coming from the rims because all of them are bent. The rims were indeed bent but I've never had any other problem besides the occasional flat tire. But I figured new rims would make my ride smoother, so I agreed. But I inquired about the brakes. They said the brakes were fine. Odd. But I'm no mechanic so I swallow their crap. I had profile tires and 17inch rims prior to this visit and I left with stock rims and hub caps. My car looks drastically different, but I accepted that because in the end functionality trumps all. A few days after coming out of pocket a few thousand, the noise returns. Luckily they have a 10 day follow up check. I return the car to them and inform them that my initial problem still exists. After about an hour one mechanic says he doesn't hear the noise and would like to ride with me to see if the sound comes back. We go around the block and like a charm the noise appears and he and I confirm the noise. My car goes back in for service. A half hour passes and another mechanic (the mechanic from 2 yrs ago that said I needed brakes soon) says we could not find anything wrong and is ready to send me on my way. I tell him that another mechanic drove with me and confirmed that there is a problem. With a puzzled look he excuses himself to go check. About an 20 minutes later I'm told that my rear brakes have no padding and need to be changed. Really? I agree to the repairs and leave to return later. This is a Holiday weekend by the way. I get the call that my car is ready and how soon can I return they ask. I say about an hour because I'm walking. I'm put on hold for a bit and then told that they can not wait that long and ask if I can pick it up on Tuesday? I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS PLACE! read more
