I agree with the guy below-- everyone in St. Louis should know about Mwanzi, the gateway city's…read morevery own Green Building Supplier. As I am buying an older house, I've been exploring my options for renovations. Ideally, most of the work I do will be done with sustainable materials. Even at Lowe's, Home Depot and Lumber Liquidators, sustainable materials still carry a relatively hefty price tag, and for what? Some of the stuff is questionably sustainable, or less sustainable than another brand. After having my cabinets quoted, countertops quoted and floors quoted, I am confident that Mwanzi can give any of those discount suppliers a run for their money when it comes to sustainable materials. You can rest assured at that every bit of lumber is either reclaimed or Forest Stewardship Council certified. One of the neatest things that they do is to claim local, fallen timber from North St. Louis and have it milled into lumber for their very own cabinet line, "Greenhaus Cabinets". These cabinets are made right here in St. Louis of a number of different woods and appear to be made with the finest hardware and craftsmanship. I will be saving all I can to afford my Greenhaus Cabinets, but I will be incredibly glad that I did. The sheer variety of sustainable countertops and flooring offered at Mwanzi is nearly staggering. For countertops they have Cambria, Caesarstone, Bamboo Butcher block, Squak Mtn. Stone, Richlite and Paperstone. There are many many more options for flooring. I look forward to working with them on every home project I am able to afford. I highly recommend making an appointment to see their showroom (yes, the showroom is by appointment only). It is worth the trip!

They fit our job into their tight schedule so we didn't have to wait months to start this project, that won us over first. Their work was careful, precise and beautiful. All their workers and designers were helpful, patient and professional. I live right around the corner in McKinley Heights and always drive/walk by this place, but it sometimes looks a little mayhem. What do I do when places look mayhem? I buy online. I started following them and one day while sitting on my plane wi-fi, I noticed the blurry shots of a gawgeous milk glass shelf, walnut sideboard and hutch. In my horrible connection, I typed "#sold". Then, I was asked if I wanted the matching piece for a little discount. There I went again - "#sold". They will send an invoice and you can pay online then pick it up on a Saturday or Sunday 12-5. Pick up can be a little hard to understand because you have to find The Unlabeled Guy (whoever that is) and find your piece. We were able to back the truck up the sidewalk to pick it up once I found The Guy and he confirmed my invoice. The inside is chaotic, with pieces of furniture everywhere. I think they list their nicest pieces online then keep them in the front room until pick up, so I'm guessing their nicer stuff is in the front. Basically everything they have is priced cheaper than any antique store or online seller, with the only exception being maybe an auction. I suggest following them on Instagram and checking it daily, with your #sold fingers ready to go. The good stuff goes quick. I bought another item just last night. IT'S SO EASY. TOO EASY. The peacock wall piece? Yeah, that was me.
