It is the old cemetery that is worth a visit there are two…read moregraves worthy of note, the first is the Singer Mausoleum. Considering Isaac Singer (he of Singer Sewing machine fame) had 22 children and died worth several billion, it is a modest tomb. (see my photo) The second is that of Skene Craig - one of the Founders of Melbourne in the State of Victoria Austrralia,who was the first postmaster general & who planted the first vines there. He married Frances Zenobia St Aubyn of the family on St Michael's Mount.(see my photo) If you go to Oldway Mansion in Paignton (see my review) afterwards, you can see the magnificent Singer Family home being converted into luxury flats (April 2013) but hurry, it will soon be locked off to the public

The staff here are lovely people, all of whom volunteer their time for this worthy cause. If you want cheaper clothes, you could go to Primark, but on the other hand if you want to buy clothes and support kidney research this is the place for you! You never know what you'll find here, and as long as you try to forget that most of the vintage items come from the homes of dead old people, it's a fun place to browse around.

Sharpham House is a majestic Palladian villa with great views…read morealong the river Dart, dating back to the 1700s. Its name came from Clemens de Scharpenhamm, the owner of the original manor house that was located here. A later owner, Captain Philemon Pownoll,who was a high seas adventurer, made his name in 1762 by capturing a Spanish treasure galleon. With the wealth he secured from this haul, the Captain appointed an architect Sir Robert Taylor to design a new mansion & lovely gardens. These days all sorts of cultural activiies take place here;the view is breathtaking across the river Dart. The interior has a famous cantilevered staircase, matched only in beauty by the much larger one at the National Liberal Club in London. This beautiful church is hidden away on the outskirts of Exmouth, set in wonderful grounds with a…read morepeaceful graveyard and lovely views. It is only small, as it is a village church, but I recommend a visit, even if you just have a look round. Services are friendly and welcoming, and the family service is VERY child friendly! We got married in this church, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The church is always well kept, and the grounds are tidy. It has some great history and is well worth a visit, whatever the reason.
