MUST TRY. Came on a Saturday night and it was pretty crowded, but luckily no wait. They mentioned they were short staffed, but I couldn't tell bc the service was still good. The menu is extensive - lots of things to choose from. Food is family style so you can try a little bit of everything if you go in a big group. We ordered the Peking duck and thank goodness it comes in a half order w 5 buns bc that's all we needed. (The full order comes with 10 buns). We also ordered the scallion ginger lobster and they brought out the live lobster to ask if we were good with the size before cooking. Pan friend seafood noodles was spectacular. None of the fish or duck felt gamey or too fishy - tasted very fresh. Family friendly. Fresh seafood. They sell beer & wine. One downside is that the bathrooms didn't seem that clean, but whatever. Will return: the best sesame balls 煎堆! Calm, with Zen-like music and fake bird chirping. The decor feels outdated. The staff are polite and kind, and they didn't laugh at my Cantonese (though they switched to Mandarin - oh well). Chairs are low; the portions are large. We had two fish dishes: Black bean flounder 豆豉/豉汁 and Sichuan spicy fish fillet 水煮鱼, which wasn't the smartest choice -- that was my fault. Both dishes looked unusual - dark and no floating oil, which I don't mind, but tasted okay: I'd order the flounder again, but not the Sichuan fish fillet. All the fish prices are 'seasonal'. At a Cantonese seafood restaurant, live fish are typical. But when the server asked me 'pomanno' or 'flounder,' I knew we'd be eating dead fish. The flounder was very clean, per this bone lover. By the way, they do have salty fish chicken tofu clay pot 咸鱼鸡粒豆腐煲 - next time. The sesame balls are served on a bed of white radish, which is odd, but they're some of the best I've had. We arrived at 5:30, and it gets busy by 6:30, mostly with non-Asian customers who do seem like regulars. The bathroom is decent, especially compared to the one at Rocca, which we visited two days ago. It was so peaceful upon our arrival. When I moved my chair, it squeaked--maybe try using tennis balls on the chair (may not look nice...); I'd donate some. It's a little out of the way from downtown St. Pete (about 20 minutes to the St. Pete opera), which is why we didn't come sooner. read more

Let me preface this by saying i'm Thai and my wife is Chinese. We're both born and raised NYer's. ABC Seafood is hands down our favorite Chinese style restaurant in Tampa Bay. It is the closest thing we have found to real NYC style Chinese food that is not the usual Americanized takeout. The place has an old school feel and the venue is big enough for parties or large groups, which makes it great for any occasion. The food is consistently good and the flavors are on point. If you eat here often, you get to know the staff and they get to know you and your go to orders too. You will usually see plenty of Asian folks eating here because we know what we like and we know what is good. Prices are fair for what you get and for the portion size. Inflation is just a pain these days. Overall, I recommend ABC Seafood over any other spot in St Pete. read more

ABC has since relocated to 66th Street, and I haven't been yet, but I'm praying that the food is consistent in flavor. We went a couple months before they moved and it's always good. This time, we ordered a couple of different things and were not disappointed. We got the fried quail, salted fish fried rice, oysters, and mapo tofu. Everything was packed with flavor (yes, even the mapo tofu) and so dang delicious. We'll always support ABC, and will check back when we try the new location! read more

This is a great no frills, AUTHENTIC Chinese restaurant! So far the only one we've found in the area. Everything we've had has been great--salt and pepper calamari, clams with black bean sauce, garlic green beans, lobster with ginger scallion sauce, snow pea tips with garlic. This is a good old fashioned Chinese restaurant. Very unassuming decor with paper lanterns, large round tables with lazy Susan's available for big parties sharing entrees, good for families. We had their walnut honey shrimp dish which was as good as everyone said it would be. Our server was attentive and helpful with suggestions. If you're a wine snob, I would bring your own and pay a corkage fee. Or order tea or a cocktail. Wine is not where this place shines. I would not call this a date night kind of place, but great for a group of friends, girls night out, and families. For authentic Chinese food, 5 stars. read more

This new location has a lot more room for seating. We always get the honey walnut shrimp and the eggplant with seasonal vegetables. Everything else has always been good too. We came from Chicago to escape the cold winter. We have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and so glad found this one on Yelp. The food is very authentic Cantonese food and is comparable to what we have in Chicago Chinatown. We had seafood and fish maw soup, steamed oysters with garlic sauce, and dungeon crab with ginger and scallions. If you are looking for authentic and unamericanized Chinese food, this is your place. Pros: soups. Seafood hot and sour soup was good. The wonton soup was really good. It is misleading, though, because on the website the Hong Kong style wonton soup shows it comes with egg noodles in the picture. It doesn't and i was disappointed. However, the broth is super flavorful. As for the entrees, I ordered beef chow fun and general Tso's chicken. The beef chow fun was nothing but an oily mess and the general tso's chicken was probably the worst I've ever had. Do not get it. Look at the picture. It doesn't even look like general tso's. They have CHOW FUN which is something I was only able to get up North. They make it just like they do in China Town NYC. You will love the fact that everything is fresh and served hot. ABC is now at the old Lucky Star's location. They open late which is great for family that works the later hours. We stopped by on our vacation and we enjoyed everything. My favorite is the seafood tofu dry pot. It's very cantonese like. All the dishes are flavorful and don't need any extra soy sauce. Beef chow fun has that smokey wok flavor that we all love. The sizzling beef is also unique and we haven't had anything like it before, definitely a must try. And the fried rice is very good because they do not stick together that's how you differentiate good and bad fried rice. The service is also really good. The Seafoid Fried Rice was more like steamed white rice, very bland and tasteless. And, my Seafood Chow Fun had very little seafood in it, only 1 piece of squid. The real disappointment was the Salt & Pepper Calamari which had a stale texture as though it was cooked hours ago. These squid have fantastic reviews and they sucked! Have heard great things about ABC seafood from Tampa folks. I believe this is their new location as the old location is permanently closed. Plenty of parking and seating . Note that all these dishes are huge in portion , by the time we finished more than half the portion was left. We had the clay pot braised short ribs 4/5 meat was tender but a bit on the dry side . Beef chow fun 4/5 had a nice grilled flavor yet not too oily there was not much beef to be found however . Shrimp with walnut 5/5 is my go to dish at Chinese restaurants and this one did not disappoint. Pan fried dumplings 3/5 outside was crispy but lacking flavor and filling I think with a better dipping sauce it would have been better. Clams with black bean sauce 4/5 surprisingly a huge portion for medium size, the clams were very plump not small. Chrysanthemum tea pot was delightful and flavorful in itself , didn't need to add much sugar . Overall service was excellent the food came out all within 10 minutes of ordering and we did not have to touch any plates they took care of all the to go boxing and bagging. Restaurant itself is a bit outdated but there was plenty of room for seating for small and large parties. It was nice to try a more authentic Chinese restaurant . read more

This Saint Petersburg, FL restaurant has been around in the area longer than my 23 years here. And for good reason. The location, service and especially food are all above par. The menu is varied and expansive. The prices reasonable. The meals are fresh tasting. I can't say enough good things. Now the only slight debit is that the area is an open room, so it's a social/family style restaurant rather than an intimate nook type place. The decorations are appropriately Asian. What can we say we decided to get take out from a different place tonight. This seemed to be a non traditional Chinese restaurant which is fine with me. We ordered three main dishes. Mongolian Beef which I wanted spicy which traditionally is a beef dish with scallions, onions, some hot peppers could be a couple of different types. This dish had green beans , very little hot pepper and little beef. The next dish was Kong Pao lChicken I ordered it with light celery. They put little to no celery and had beans and scallions. The dish had very little flavor and suckedl. The last item on this menu was house lomein which had four proteins in there chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops. I would have to give this dinner a solid F. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Tampa Bay. We used to live in St Petersburg and went here all the time. Now that we live in Tampa we drive down there occasionally. We love the eggplant dishes, and they make the "spicy eggplant" mild for us. My husband orders the beef dishes with "extra beef" and I love the chicken. They are open 4:30 to 11 pm and closed on Tuesdays. The staff remembers us when we come in and are very helpful. Prices are reasonable. Most of the customers are Asian. read more

We got ABC for takeout, and we ate everything soon after picking it up. The flavors were all there, and it satisfied our Chinese cravings, but it definitely would've been better to eat fresh at the restaurant. Take the calamari, for starters. It had a nice flavor, but the texture became soggy once it arrived home to us. However, this food is much better than ones from most Chinese restaurants and everything had a well balanced flavor. The meats were all well marinated, such as the peking duck. We ordered two types of fried rice. One was combination and one was salted fish. The rice was very bland, but the proteins had some flavor. The flat noodles were delicious, but I would've preferred more meat in the duck flat noodles. The beef flat noodles had plenty of meat, though. I'm not taking off points for this, though, because it's just preference, and I understand duck is much more expensive. Overall, I know that if I were eating this food at the actual restaurant, I would thoroughly enjoy it. Taking home food usually never reaches its full quality. ABC is the ultimate go-to restaurant for any Asian families celebrating an occasion. The lazy Susan tables make it easy to share all the dishes on their very large menu! There's definitely something for EVERYBODY on it. My fav dishes are the Peking duck with the steamed buns, the cold cut platter is a definite must for a starter and the fried flounder topped with ginger scallion soy sauce always pairs well with fried rice and sautéed snow peas tips. The service is always extremely friendly and fast and you always finish the meal with a complimentary fruit or some sort of bean dessert. I just tried ABC Seafood for the first time! I usually order Sweet and Sour chicken and mixed vegetables from a typical Chinese carryout. I am happy that this sweet and sour dish is more natural without the bright orange sauce. They also include green peppers, onion and pineapple which I haven't been getting at the other place. I've always seen in pictures the dish with the peppers and pineapple. Now I actually got them! The mixed vegetables are different too with some bok choy, straw mushrooms and tofu added. This past weekend, I was craving some Chinese food. I really wanted some mapo tofu, so we decided to head to ABC Chinese in St Pete. We arrived about 7:30 on Sunday evening. The place was packed and we were lucky to get the only 2 top table. Our service was great throughout our visit. We started out with an order of dumplings. We also order mapo tofu, Szechuan beef, and ginger scallion chicken. Our food came out quickly and it looked tasty. I dove in to the mapo tofu and it hit all the notes I was looking for. The Szechuan peppercorns gave it a tingly feeling and it was a bit spicy. The Szechuan beef had the same character, but a different sauce. It was enjoyed. The chicken was tender and flavorful. We enjoyed all of our dishes. Overall, we had a great meal. The food was great, price was reasonable, and the service was great. I have enjoyed all of my previous visits and this one was no different. Definitely recommendes. read more

My parents came down to Tampa to visit me and they wanted seafood... and preferably Chinese seafood. So, I heard a lot of good things about ABC, how they are very authentic. The way Asian parents compliment the dishes: "It's not very oily!", "This dish is not so salty!", "These oysters are so plump and juicy." We ordered scallops, garlic steamed oysters, the Dungeness crab, spicy clams, pea sprouts, beef chow fun, and pompano fish. The Dungeness crab was just a bit over cooked. It appears to be fried, so the crab shell was easy to crunch through. But, the crab meat was over cooked so it stuck to the shell. I thought the fried pompano fish was very good. The skin was so crispy. The good thing is there aren't so many sharp fish bones in this fish. read more

Service is very quick at this restaurant. If you are looking for NYC Chinatown Style Chinese food, this is the closest you'll get in Pinellas County. Huge plus is they are open late at night. After watching a game of football or baseball and craving for some authentic Chinese this is the place to go!!! I had heard of this place, but for over five years never went. I regret that. Does not look like much on the outside, nor even when I entered. Wonderful hot tea, rice vinegar on the table, and using more authentic fresh ingredients like Chinese broccoli and mushroom shoots.
