I would give them negative star if possible. Worst attitude receptionist sitting in health center who tries their best to make extra money. They ask you get to there more than once for one medical check, in order to make more money. After reviewing healthcare report with doctor and requesting a copy, they will charge you $1.5/piece of paper. A copy of your healthcare report could cause you 10+ bucks. It's brutal place to make dark-heart money. Lost credit to serve people. read more

Got referred to Dr. Tom Liu by my family doctor because my outer eyelid got inflamed previously. Had 2 appointments - the first was a vision check (this already makes no sense - why am I having a vision check for an inflamed eyelid??), and the second one was a consultation with the doctor. At the second appointment (I waited for 1.5 hours), I was "welcomed" by the doctor's extremely rude and impatient attitude throughout the 10 minutes while I was in his room. He used great force to push my eyelids in with his fingers to inspect the inside of my eyes. Although my eyelid had been already sensitive due to the previous inflammation, he didn't care whether or not he was hurting me, the patient, with his insensitivity. He also mocked my family doctor for prescribing antibiotics for me and how my family doctor was being "too conservative" when it could have gone away on its own with just warm compresses (he only sees how the eye is healed now, but previously the eyelid was drooping to the point where I can't even open my eyes - my family doctor made the right decision to prescribe me with the oral medications, and I'm forever glad that he did, or else it would have been so so much worse). This so-called "doctor" was extremely arrogant and ignorant. How could he make such bold and uneducated comments on another doctor without seeing first hand how bad the condition was back then for the patient. I also asked why he needs to check my vision when it's my eyelid that's inflamed. He answered impatiently and irritatedly that he needs to do that with every patient coming in since he's held accountable for them. But what does having an inflamed eyelid have anything to do with needing a vision check, and he did absolutely nothing to check on the eyelid itself or made any educated comments on the actual eye condition at all...I didn't wait more than a month (and 1.5 hours in the office) for an eye specialist to do a vision test for me and hear all of his nonsense. I come here because its close and convenient even though I hate having to wait so long everytime. I work in health care so I understand that sometimes people clog up clinics and hospitals for very minor things but they need to have a quicker system. Like a walk in to get a simple shot shouldn't have to wait for an hour and a half. The Drs are hit and miss and the one I like is always fully booked. One time I came here for school medical check to make sure my injured knee was good enough to work on. The incredibly rude young (possibly a resident) Dr just made assumptions about what I could do instead of asking me to perform certain tasks. Even when I told him I could actually do certain things he didn't listen and just said "no, you can't do that effectively" and didn't check off the box. Then he rudely told me I'd have to pay for him to check a few boxes! Thank god (I don't think) he works there anymore. There needs to be better quality control here. Unfortunately I havent been able to find a new family doctor. If anyone knows a good one accepting new patients please tell me so I can stop going to these over booked clinics. read more

The one star is for one of the nice reception clerks, and for my old doctor there before he retired. But otherwise, horrible experience. Dr.Tseng is THE WORST. You (the patient) are a "billing" for them to get $$$. Dr. Tseng is condescending and opinionated, and needs to learn how to ASK FOR CONSENT. He does not care about what's best for his patients; he cares about how much $$$ he can get from you. He needs to learn how to talk to patients respectfully about the patient's intentions, wishes, and even just hearing the questions. In my case, it is best to refer me to a SPECIALIST. But he insisted I stay with him until he HAS to refer me to someone else (which will be months later)...without even ASKING what my wishes are. Basically he thinks he has the right to decide for the patient without even asking the patient any questions. Not to mention...I had a visit yesterday where no one (receptionist, doctor, etc.) told me they would be running an INVASIVE test at the appointment. He basically just said "see me in the office". And it was such an unpleasant surprise to find out, "we are going to do this test now." When I shared how I was considering alternative care options for my condition, he was condescending and beat down any options other than going to see him. In a previous visit, he even said, "You'll just end up coming back to me." Any other clinics I've been to, I was told very clearly about any tests that need to be done at the appointment beforehand. Not to mention, all other MDs I have seen were open to discussing care options and provide perspective to help patients make an informed decision. Not this guy. For those have never come to this clinic I strongly recommend never ever made appointments with Doctor George Tseng. He is impatient and I don't think he is capable to be a good doctor. I had a stomach disorder only for 3 to 4 months. The first time I told him I always felt hungry he priscribed me two weeks pantoprazole againt acid and after two weeks i went to see him again telling him although I felt a little better I still often felt hungry. This time he want me to do a blood test and a breath test for Pylori. Fortunately all test result are good. Pylori is negative and all blood tests are within normal range. So i went to see him the third time telling him these days I feel stomach ache when i am hungary. Each day I have to keep eating something every two hours. He just said it is uncurable and it is not our doctor's responsability otherwise something you should take care of. He didn't advice to take any further action not even give me a diagnosis on what my illness is other than prescribed another 30 days pantoprazole. All this happened within two minutes including the time i was talking and he steped out of the patient room. He was totally not helpful not resourceful all he did was sending you to some tests and gave you a long list of 'not-to-do-things' . Now i still need to find what my problem is Do I get stomach ulcer or do I need a gastroscope check？ But definitely I will never see him again. | read more

Yaya's eye doctor is very nice. This is his secondary clinic. His main one is in Vancouver. So having this location makes it easier for Yaya to see him. It is quite the popular clinic for Chinese Asians as it is located in the Aberdeen center (2nd floor) north west, side pocket. Well staffed and although sometimes the staff could be a bit more patient with the patients, I think being an overly sensitive patient doesn't help either. Then again, if you're not feeling well, then you're going to be cranky and that's a given. So.... The staff could be a bit better? It depends on how privilaged you think you should be. Most of the people it seems are from another generation (in the morning) and are willing to follow their system. It is a small price to pay to get past Charon and the river of Styx. However, once you get past Charon and the river of Styx, you can be assured that you've come to the right place. You've come to see a doctor haven't you? If not, you're in the wrong place and yeah, I would then understand the crankiness of the Charons at the front desk of Styx. Trust me, I've been in a lot worse medical clinics than this. Be thankful, humble and realize this is really not a bad place to go. Drop in clinic wise? Not so sure. There are less and less doctors to see and more of these drop in clinics are changing. Blame it on the political landscape to keep things flowing more smoothly in the medical community. Just don't shoot the messenger. read more

First time writing a review on Yelp but really wanted to save other's time. Had a bad headache for few months. Hard to go to a clinic after work so I Googled "walk in clinic in richmond" and this was the first clinic that came up. Called them and asked if I have to make an appoinment just in case. The lady says(very mad for some reason)"Have you been here before". I said "No". The lady answers "We don't take any more patient" me"oh..okay.." (She hung up). Called back asked her if that place is a walk-in clinic. She says the information on google was not updated. I said "Okay. I just googled walk in clinic and called you guys. How would I know if you guys are not a walk in clinic. You shouldn't talk like that to me". What she did is just HUNG UP not saying any word. NEVER EVER go there or even call them. For some reason almost all of the doctors at this clinic, at least 3 of the 4 I've seen, are all unprofessional, impatient, rude and arrogant. The staff are equally unpleasant and lacking in any warmth. It honestly feels like everyone at this clinic hates what they do and are just in it for the money - NOT what a health centre should be. read more

The one star is for at least having sofas and a tv in the waiting area. Wow. This clinic amazes me at how there seems to be no standards for customer/client service at all. When I called to book an appointment, I was rudely interrupted and put on hold before I could even finish my first sentence. I came in to my appointment at the time they have set up for me, but I waited an hour and there were still people before me. The receptionist there gave off a "I dont get paid enough to care" vibe. I ended up having to leave the clinic before even getting to my turn because I had to go to school. Also, I don't want to be judging, but I saw a nurse or doctor (I didn't know what she was but she was helping a patient) dressed in a short skirt with tights and boots. This clinic claimed to be a walk in one. I walked in at 9am, made appointment and could see doctor till noon. Crazy! 3 hour waiting made me felt even worse. I just got back from visiting the clinic today. A bit of a background, my Medical Services Plan was recently activated after the 3 month waiting period. I'm a new permanent resident and I come from Manila, so I'll be comparing my experience here with what I experience there. I ended up going to this clinic after I looked for a Family Physician online, and the searches showed about 6 names of female doctors who were accepting new a in Richmond. I ended up choosing Dr. Ka Wai Yam because she has a clinic in Richmond AND in Vancouver (where I might relocate to later), and her profile was the most complete. I called up the number provided, was advised of her clinic hours, and made my appointment for Wed at 10 am. I arrived at a quarter before 10. PROS: Location - Aberdeen Mall is very easy to find and easily accessible by public transit. The clinic, located on the second floor of the mall, was also easy to find. Facilities - Waiting room was clean, with plenty of comfortable sofas, and there was a big flat screen there though I was not paying attention to what was shown since I was reading my own newspaper. I hadn't noticed if they had magazines around. Probably. The doctor's office was clean and looked complete, though since I wasn't there for a physical, I wouldn't really know. Waiting Time - About 15 minutes, which is o bad. I wasn't able to see my doctor at 10 am on the dot even though I had an appointment but I'll put the reason for that later under the cons list. Doctor (Dr. Ka Wai Yam) - Very friendly and very professional. Asked very knowledgeable questions and asked me for some information I hadn't thought to share but which I should have. I needed to take a lab test so my condition can be better understood (I'm having a rather bad bout of acid reflux), and she explained where I can get them. Gave me forms and a prescription (to be filled after the lab test results are out). She also gave me nutritional advice. She was typing on her computer the whole time I was giving her my medical history which might bother some people but didn't bother me. I rather liked it because it meant she was taking everything I said down. :D CONS Just have one con, and honestly I'm not sure if I should be blaming them for this, but it affected my experience as a client so I'm putting it here. The receptionist took my Care Card and asked for one BC ID, told me to write down my phone number. After five minutes, she gave them back and told me that my MSP was inactive. I told her that was impossible because I paid for it. She tried to call a number again but said it was still inactive so she asked a coworker what to do. The coworker told me that there was nothing they can do if the MSP was inactive and that I should talk to the MSP people about it. They said I could still see a doctor but that I would have to pay for it, which they will refund if I can prove that my MSP was active. I asked him for a number I could call. He gave it to me and I excused myself to call the number from the hallway. The first time I called to figure out if my MSP was active or not, the line got cut. The second time I called, the automated response said that my MSP was active, so I went back in and told them that it was active. The receptionist checked it again and said "It's ok now; but I checked it twice before and it was inactive." Hmmm. I am a patient person so I didn't say anything but I was trained in Customer Service and though I knew it was not her fault, that didn't seem to be the right thing to say. She didn't tell me to take a seat, nor did she tell me how long to wait. She wasn't rude; she just wasn't giving good customer service. So basically that's the reason why I'm taking away a star from this review. read more

Yes the wait is long, but I give this so many stars because the older doctor is one of the kindest and sincere doctor I had. He was genuinely concerned with my health when I came down with the flu. He was prompt, and the fact he knew English and Chinese fluently made it easier for me to communicate with him (chinglish, some might call). I literally waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes before I got brought into a room. I made another appointment 2.5 hours ahead but I ended up being late for my second appointment. When I got in there to see the doctor, he just kept referring me as "not his usual patient" so he was not even answering my questions. I understand the importance of knowing my medical history for significant issues but I literally had the stomach flu and he was unable to use the symptoms I told him. Ok, I will preface this and say that I have nothing to compare with. Since I am American and not Canadian and this is our first experience with clinic in Canada, I can only based on my experience. We came to Vancouver, in particular, Richmond, for vacation on our way to Whistler and my son developed a very nasty cough and we were worried that it will impact his skiing so we asked our hotel concierge to find us a walk-in clinic where we can go (apparently in Canada, you can only go to walk-in clinic if you are not Canadian). Anyway, we called and explained to the lady on the phone about our situation and she told us to show up in 30 minutes. She was very professional, explaining about the pricing before we hung up (C$60 for the visit for non-Canadian). We showed up and was promptly registered and payment was processed. We waited for about 15 minutes then saw the doctor (can't remember his name). He was professional but very quick; I think we were out of there in 10 minutes or less. He told us our options and gave us a prescription. I found him helpful and he answered all our questions. And it only cost us C$60 which in the US, will never happen. Anyway, this is a Chinese clinic and I think most of the staff and doctors are Cantonese (Hong Kong). Most of their patients are Cantonese also although they spoke Mandarin well enough. The doctors seem to be able to speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. I found the clinic clean and that's a big plus for me. Overall, I will visit this health clinic again, should the need arises but hopefully, this will be our only visit. read more

Came to this clinic for walk in. Upon signing in at reception, I was told that I'm 2nd in line. However, they do not call walk in patients according to the list. This place is corrupted. Perhaps I'm a new walk in patient, hence they kept bumping me to the bottom of the list. Anyways, try to avoid this clinic unless you have no other options. I've had much better luck at other walk in clinics with a longer list of patients. After 1.5 hour of waiting, they still told me that I am 2nd in line. Unbelievable. read more

Unbelievably rude staff at the front who woulf blame you for anything yet still charge you for their own mistakes! Dr Feng there had referred my mom to an abdominal exam. The front lady had taken the form and told my mom they would make appointment for us. This office called us back about appointment but never gave back our req. Later the radiology office called us to remind us to bring req, and then we came back to this medical clinic for the form yesterday. The receptionist first told us there was no record of this referral ever been made and they didnt not have any record (well, then how did they call us for the ultrasound appointment?). Then when my mom asked to see Dr. Feng, the receptionist told my 71-year-old mom that Dr. Feng not in the office and urged them to come back tomorrow (Nov1) first thing in the morning to see Dr. Feng but wouldn't let them make an appointment. Hence, I took my mom there first thing in the morning today. However, this us that Dr. Feng not here today (what gives?), and had us waiting for another Dr. to sign the req. While waiting, this lady summoned us to the front and told us she phoned Dr. Feng. Dr. Feng told her she had given my mom req already (of course! Cuz the receptionist took it!) . This lady therefore refilled the req and charged us $10 claiming we lost it. Still she wouldn't give us the req and told us she would fax it to thw radiology office?! There's gotta be somewhere I can make a formal complaint about this clinic's practice! read more

Possibly the worst walk-in clinic I've ever been to. Receptionists have no concept of customer service, always rude and moody. Called several times on Saturday to book appointment and before I could finish my first sentence she puts me on hold. There was a time where I was on hold for more than 5 minutes so I hung up and called again and told her she must've forgot she put me on hold, but no apology whatsoever, instead she gives me attitude and says so what do you want to do. Wow. I understand you're busy but that does not give you an excuse to treat patients like that. Seems like we are doing them a disfavor by calling! And wait times are ridiculous. read more

The medical office assistants are poorly trained and unorganized. Terrible waiting lines and poor telephone service (lack of empathy) are frequent. Some of the doctors are very qualified but only work part time, and are ultimately ill-supported by the office staff. Expect a 15-20 minute delay from your booked time. read more
