It's absolutely vast and almost completely unspoiled. There's a toilet block and a small visitor centre, and a wooden walkway across the dunes, but otherwise it's completely as nature intended it to be. Even in the middle of Summer the beach itself feels empty because there's so much open space. As a child my cousins and I used to love running up and down the dunes, eating picnic on the sand, collecting pretty shells and paddling in the water. The sea is a bit rough for swimmers, but otherwise it's perfect. I really enjoy taking my own children there when we come to Wales for visits. It's also a great place to walk dogs in the Winter and to work up a hearty appetite!

Then you see the sandy bay below, carved out of the hillside and framed by massive steep hills on either side, focussing into the distant sea horizon - spectacular. There's a little hut at the top selling beachy stuff and ice creams and things, along with toilets facilities. The steep steps to the beach are a bit daunting but didn't seem to stop anyone - in fact the beach was packed (this was summer time - just ignore the date of this review) but this didn't spoil it - a great holiday spot for all. Some of the breakers were a bit rough on the day, but these will vary. Excellent place, well worth the effort to find and get to.

It's an unexpected thing and a nice place to stop if you're doing the whole day's walk along the mountains to the beach at lovely Aberdyfi. It is known to surfers as one of the best beaches to surf at, cliffs to hike, has parking, and a restaurant. There is a lifeguard on duty from end of May and the beginning of September.

A 'blue flag' area which is popular with surfers, swimmers, canoeists and walkers. The Pembrokeshire coastal path takes you in either direction around the cliffs to enjoy the fantastic views. We have friends in St Davids (just a few miles away) so have often combined visits to see them with walks around this lovely bay.
