Prime rib is pretty good. Buffalo chicken strip horseshoe is better than the steak burger horseshoe. Monterrey chicken was average. What a pleasant surprise! Accidentally stumbled upon this great place. The waitress was really on top of her game. The food here is amazing! I have been here twice and have loved it. I usually go on Saturday nights as that is when they have their prime rib available and both times the prime rib has been excellent. My favorite are their french fries which is an option for their sides. It was very crispy and its oh so delicious. The service was also very good (alright on the second trip) but overall the entire experience was great. The restaurant has a nice feel to it but it is a bit chilly. I've been told that when you go to Springfield, you have to try the horseshoe. We stopped at Abe's Hideout and I got the steakburger horseshoe. I have to tell you, it didn't disappoint. The seasoned fries were nice and crispy, the burgers cooked perfectly, and the cheese sauce was so good. Next time I'm gonna try the buffalo chicken horseshoe. read more

We had went out as a family for dinner, mid service our waitress had starting acting extremely rude and wouldn't talk to us and then she stopped coming to our table. We didn't even ask for refills or anything extra, and are always very generous and nice to waiters/waitresses. They treated us like freaks and that we did something wrong!? They never asked if we needed anything not even to go containers! And we had half a pizza and some pasta and bread left! So we just ate the pasta and carried the pizza with out a box! We were not sure what happened as to why we were treated so poorly!? The food was not good at all anyway but, we were treated like we weren't human for no reason!? My husband had taken our toddler to the car to wait for 30 minutes, that's how long it took to get the bill AFTER we asked for it because nobody was coming to our table for over 20 minutes, it was INSANE!! We will NEVER go near here again and won't let family and friends go there as it was so discriminatory there!! We paid ALOT of money for the special occasion and it was a total disaster and was humiliating!! We were SO uncomfortable in there, the staff was looking at us like we were crazy people?! We were quite and just having a normal dinner, I don't understand how you could get treated so poorly. read more

I don't think Abe hid in a strip mall but suppose it could of been a salon back in his day. Other than that clean and friendly. Decent bar with better than standard bar food. Back tonite for a tasty little ribeye cooked just as ordered, baked tater, cheese curds. Their fried food is hot and crispy and the oil is light and clean. The food isn't greasy. The side salad was fresh and crisp and the croutons were very crunchy - not soggy or stale. While this is not a fancy place - certainly nothing pretentious about it - they have really good food and it's just a good place to watch sports. The servers are super nice. If you wanna go nuts somewhere else for lesser food and indifferent service, have at it. If you want real good food and great service at a nice casual place, come to Abe's Hideout. read more

Was in Springfield with my kids for the weekend and stumbled across this restaurant, as it was the only non-chain one we can find in the area. What a pleasant surprise!! First let me say that our entire dinner was extremely reasonably priced, especially for the quality of food. All of our entrées were delicious! I had my first horseshoe (pony sized) and with a recommendation from the waitress got the grilled buffalo chicken variety. It was so delicious that I finished the whole plate. The cheese sauce alone was to die for. Definitely homemade. My daughter had the spaghetti dinner, and the meat marinara sauce tasted homemade. My son has a filet mignon, it was cooked to his perfection and again the price was a steal. I would also recommend the roasted vegetables as a side, they were so good I could've eaten then as a full entree. read more

In town for business and it was between here and Hooters. Based on the terrible reviews they got, I chose Abe's instead. Well, the servers were really nice and on the ball.... they are the reason for the 3 stars. The food was not recommended at all. I started with wings out of curiosity and they were way over cooked, tiny (like 2 inches) and smothered in sauce that I'll need tums for later. Whoever recommended wings has ever had decent wings. I ordered the grilled catfish. It was undercooked, over seasoned and swimming in oil. I didn't even finish it. Overall it's a decent atmosphere with nice Staff. They should stick to pizzas I think. One of the worst food experiences I've had. My wife ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich. They fried it with the paper that separated it from the others pieces when frozen. The paper was still on the pork when it arrived at the table!!! I ordered a cheeseburger. When the bun greatly overtakes the burger, we have issues. It was just like bulk burger patties I get at the discount market My daughter ordered pulled pork. Dry as dirt during a drought. I can say the waitress showed legitimate concern for the issue with my wife's meal. That was nice. I don't think they actually cook any food here that isn't frozen and prepared for consumption. So we went there because someone on yelp raved about the pulled pork and I heard a radio commercial featuring the dish. It was pork microwaved out of a can with a mini cup of generic bbq sauce. It was the most unflavorful pile of generic canned meat. The garlic mashed potatoes were instant powdered potatoes had been sitting on the stove all day, just look at the picture, that cook should have never served them. I had the grilled vegetables, same thing, some frozen veggies thrown on the grill with zero flavor and still just a touch cold on the inside. Can't say it was good. I've been there before for lunch and it was pretty good. Went tonight for dinner and it was pretty bad. My kids cheeseburger was missing the cheese. My husband and I got caesar salads... They were pretty gross, drenched in dressing (and we both like dressing but this was over the top). We got an app with buffalo wings, Mac n cheese bites and mushrooms. It was very ok, wouldn't get it again. On a positive note my brother in law liked his side salad and Reuben sandwich. Great casual place for dinner. The outside looks like a strip mall but inside had character. The waitress we had was very accommodating. You can see the menu online but nice selection of 'bar' food but also had plenty of salads if you don't want fried or cheesy food (although their fried, cheesy food is delish!). Never going back, period! I ordered one martini and it was so strong I felt like I had been drinkig for eight hours straight, and I wasnt even half way through it! The food I thought could be better and we waited forever for the waitress to even get to our table so we can order. And thats not even the worst part! Because of how strong the drink was and how much grease was in the food I threw up all night and had a rough day trying to keep any food in my stomach. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. From the outside and the name, Abe's sounds like just a small local pub with a couple slot machines inside. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full menu, a large dining area, and great food. There's plenty to drink served by a friendly bartender. I'll be back. read more

I've eaten here at Abe's many times and we love it. Nice selection of food and service is always friendly. Beer menu is a big limited but they have the basics. The steaks here are pretty good but at times they've overcooked my steak (normal for many restaurants though). Tables are disgusting and "sticky". My paper napkin (only one was offered) stuck to the table and tore to pieces. Prime rib arrived tough and barely warm. Also our table was next to the gambling area (apparently these machines are popular all over Springfield!). Not going back here when in town. read more
