Photos were a huge priority for us from the beginning, and ABM knew the ins and outs of our venue (Martin Johnson House) to provide an array of unique photos. We found Brian after looking at the engagement photos and wedding pictures of one of our friends (yup, we stole their photographer). You can tell he is very passionate about his job and he picked the BEST areas to take pictures. He really made sure the lighting was perfect. ABM Photography took the most breathtaking photos of my special day. They are all so professional, kind, punctual and definitely know what they're doing - my pictures were amazing! I had two photographers and the photo booth at my wedding and it turned out phenomenal. Also, one of the pictures with my flower girls came out with a basket handle over my niece's face and I was a little disappointed because it is a beautiful shot! We hired ABM for unlimited hours on our wedding day [October 20, 2012], the Diamond Package, and it paid off immensely! We also hired a second photographer for half the day and that was also a huge payoff! The got every angle of our first look at Balboa park and the ceremony/reception at Admiral Kidd Club! That's right, they even traveled to multiple venues without extra charge in fact photos earlier in the day at Balboa Park was Brian's idea! Example of the passion: It ended up misting pretty good outside during the reception so Brian took us out and got some extremely romantic photos in the rain. He really thinks outside the box! Best part, after the wedding and the photos were done, was the viewing at their huge studio in Miramar. Way overdue review. I should have written this sooner, but forgot. We used Brian 4 years ago when he was just getting started with his photography business. He did a fantastic job for our wedding, and drove all the way up to Vista to shoot it. His prices were very reasonable, and his service was outstanding. I can't say enough good things about him. We felt very comfortable to trust him with our day, and he did not disappoint. I wish I left a review earlier, but it looks as though Brian is keeping up the great work with all these reviews. The quality of the work is as good as it gets. If you use ABM, you will not be sorry. We actually looked at the wedding album a few weeks ago as we were packing and moving into a new house. First off, I would like to state that I SIGNED up for Yelp (welcome to 2017, I know), just so I could leave a review for Brian and ABM Photography. I met Brian (and Nick) at a Bridal Bazar that my friend dragged me to. I am SO glad that I went. ABM's booth was the last one that we stopped at that day. After a few minutes and looking through the photo booths they had available, I knew that I wanted Brian to shoot my wedding! Great photos were one of the top things I knew I wanted when planning the wedding. My (now) husband and I met with Brian shortly after to go through options, what was important to us and packages that would be best for our needs/ wants. He was never pushy and offered great advice and options to suit anyone. When we decided to use Brian and ABM, every other photographer that "popped up" or email me, was nothing in comparison to Brian's work. We used Brian for our engagement photos (which I highly recommend!) He suggested the perfect location for our personalities. An old barn with beautiful lighting and amazing shots. I was obsessed with our photos. Not only was the lighting amazing, Brain was super fun to work with! I knew we had nothing to worry about our wedding day. We got married April 21, 2017. We did a second photographer (enter Nick!) for the first look and ceremony. I am SO thankful we decided to do that. The shots we got from having two photographer was well worth it! Brian (and team) were amazing to work with on our special day. We didn't have to worry about anything. He set a realistic time line to make sure we got the lighting we wanted and chose location on site that I would not have even thought of. We got our wedding photos back not even two weeks after the wedding. ALL of them. **Obsessed** I have looked through them several times; and there is a lot of them. I contacted ABM Wedding Photography at 7:30am on a Monday morning expecting to leave a voicemail and to my surprise they answered the phone immediately. They were able to accommodate my need to film an acceptance speech asap and deliver the final video within 24 hours. Brian did a great job with the video that I booked him to do my headshots. The rates were very reasonable and I loved the way the way it turned out. Most recently I had them do my maternity shoot. Nick Mantzel from ABM is amazing!!! Nick is super friendly and easy to work with. He was very responsive and flexible throughout the whole planning process. He shot our engagement photos last year in La Jolla. He made us feel super comfortable and gave us direction throughout the shoot, which was great because we would've been lost. He was super patient and was able to get amazing shots, even with our crazy dog. I met with him again right before our wedding and he went through every detail to make sure he got every shot we were looking for. One thing thats really great about ABM is the unlimited time on the wedding day. This is pretty unusual for most photographers and it makes a huge difference when you're dealing with all of the timing logistics. I really appreciated how laid back they were and weren't trying to charge extra for everything. They gave us a disc with all of our photos with printing rights. On the day of our wedding, Nick and our second shooter, Brian were amazing. They were super helpful and friendly. They worked really well with our videographers. During the ceremony they were so unobtrusive, I never even saw where they were taking photos from. Nick was on top of everything, he went through photos super quickly. ABM was the perfect choice for us. Brian was the lead photographer for our wedding in Carlsbad. He and Heather were wonderful!! They were fun and flexible to work with but clearly had a vision. My wife and I cannot say enough great things about our experience with ABM--from beginning to end. We knew from the moment that we met Brian in the office that ABM was the way to go. One thing was clear from doing some research ahead of time, as well as just browsing through sample albums: they know how to capture the moment, without getting a whiff of it being cheesy. On our actual wedding day, we of course had a few minor disasters prior to "First Look" (I had the bright idea of thinking I could tie my first bow tie on my wedding day; one groomsman was unbelievably late; wedding dress malfunctions) and no fear--Brian and his team took it in stride. It was great to know that even though our timeline had been majorly thrown off, all we got in response was "Don't worry about it!" For the photo shoots, let me tell you I am not one who usually looks forward to taking photos. However, Brian had a way of being so natural, funny, cheerful and professional throughout that it was a pleasure. We went to a few locations in San Diego he recommended and have jaw-dropping results. He really has a knack for finding the right amount of lighting, highlighting the bridge and groom in front of fantastic views. Surprisingly, I don't have that "fake" smile or cheesy pose reminiscent of middle school year book days during any of them! One other thing that was special about ABM was the turnaround. After our wedding day, we had ALL of the photos in our emails by 1.5 weeks from the big day. From other couples I have spoken to, this turnaround is unheard of. I wouldn't hesitate to choose ABM again or to recommend them to someone else!! read more

Don't hesitate...go with ABM!! Like every bride, you want your wedding to be perfect and just as important, you need those perfect memories captured in photos that you can keep and look back on forever. We spent a long time looking for the perfect photographer, and didn't make a decision quickly. For us, this was one of the most important choices to make so we really did our homework before choosing to go with ABM. First of all, we LOVED their body of work..the modern and vibrant style was perfectly what we wanted to capture our special moments. Then there's the photographer himself...with some companies you don't actually get to meet with the photographer that you will have on the day..that's not the case with ABM. We got to meet with Nick and we knew at that moment that he was the one!! I think it's so important to gel with your photographer (they are going to be hanging out with you all day, on the most special day of your life, so you have to like them!). We met with Nick at the ABM studio where he talked us through the day, asked questions, and showed us his previous work (which is amazing!!). What made a difference was that we really felt like he genuinely cared about capturing the best possible photos for our day. (Note that I met with other photographers from other companies who really just feel like they want your money.). It was a no-brainer for us... Nick was our man!! On the day, Nick was there on time, and worked his magic throughout the day. All the time, being so pleasant and fun to be around. He stayed later than we contracted and we never felt rushed. He even asked if we wanted any more shots before he left, and was so accommodating. After the wedding, our photos were finished earlier than expected. The photos came out AMAZING! Everyone that has seen them are totally amazed by how much he captured (and the quality). He did such a good job at capturing the story of our day...they are more than we could have hoped for!!! The photos were all so good that it took us 2 hours to choose one for our thank cards!! Haha! I know this review is long, but I just can't say enough amazing things about ABM. My advise is don't take as long as we did to make a decision. From my experience, you will not be disappointed! We used ABM for our wedding in July 2013 (this review is long overdue)! I went to high school with the owner, Brian. When it came time to select a photographer, my mom brought him up and it just made sense to head in that direction! The communication was great as he took care of everything we needed! He was timely and made me feel very comfortable! The day of our wedding lacked some sunshine which sucks. But we got some amazing photos that turned out beautiful! Our wedding party was not easy to deal with I'm sure (I would like to knock some of them out sometimes), but Brian really just rolled with the punches! Happy with him the day of! Brian takes everything you say in to account plus helps you work through things that you never even thought about. I have never felt so beautiful and he captured every single moment of it... You get ten times what you pay for, he is with you the ENTIRE day morning to night, you forget he's there yet he captures everything, he makes you feel so comfortable, he takes both classic and artistic shots, and his pre-list picture must haves is amazing... I am in debt to my colleague, who suggested ABM as a photographer for our wedding (9/14/2013). She said that I should go visit ABM's studio in Mira Mesa, because it blew her mind. Even going in with such high hopes, Brian Kent (head of the company) and his work did not fail to disappoint. Upon meeting Brian, my now husband and I instantly felt like we found a professional who understood what we wanted from a photographer - this is no easy feat, as we have opposite styles (my husband is modern chic, and I am traditional/classic). Though I wanted to stop interviewing photographers then and there, my husband insisted we do our due diligence and interview others. What we ran into was eye-opening: one very high-end photographer told us that the timeline of our wedding day would need to revolve around HIS schedule, as he would absolutely shoot no more than 9 hours. Sure, some of the other work we saw was good, but Brian at ABM has a rare mix of breathtakingly-artistic work, and a fun, pleasant, upbeat personality. After giving Brian our deposit, we scheduled our engagement session, to shoot at Sea Port Village (for which I had to get permission), and downtown San Diego. Brian graciously went over our two-hour time limit to ensure that we had the chance to pose for every photo on our list. The results were incredible - we will likely be enlarging some of the engagement shots to have around the house. The results of the engagement shoot confirmed what we already knew to be true - Brian was, without question, the man for the job. We also decided to spring for the second shooter for our wedding day, which I would HIGHLY recommend. While Brian was shooting me with the bridesmaids, Heather was off shooting my husband with the groomsmen, and that flexibility kept us on-time throughout the entire day. The second shooter was also able to document the men getting ready, while Brian documented my preparation. ABM worked amazingly well with our videographer (NR3), which was really important to us also - Lord knows there is enough potential drama among family members that no bride should have to worry about a photographer and videographer vying and jockeying for the best shot, over one another. Brian's attitude throughout the long day never failed to be optimistic, and his mind creative. He has a knack for finding very flattering natural lighting that will make all the difference in your photos. We received a lot of advice while planning our wedding but the consistent "most important" piece of advice we received was to choose our photographer carefully as our pictures would be the most cherished part of the wedding we would have forever. We had heard about ABM from friends but we had a vision of wanting pictures that really captured the emotion of the day in a unique and artistic way. As I perused through wedding photography from different photographers, it was the photos from ABM that always stood out. Brian is more than a photographer, he is an artist with a journalists eye that enables him to capture details and moments in images that are simply breathtaking. After sitting with him once, we booked ABM for both our engagement pictures as well as our wedding photography. Initially we were unsure about needing engagement pictures but we are so glad we did them because we were able to show them at our wedding and just having the opportunity to have a "practice" session and get to know Brian better really prepared and relaxed us for the wedding pictures. Everyone on the ABM team was incredibly professional and supportive on our wedding day. In fact, Brian noticed I was having a bit of nerves and he was the only person around me who brought me a bottle of water and gently reassured me that everything was okay. He also understood timing limitations and was on the ball about keeping to schedule and making sure we got all the shots we wanted. We have also been so pleased with the timing of getting our pictures and picture book back. My friend who got married a month before me still hadn't received her pictures when we received ours. Choosing ABM was by far the best investment we made for our wedding and the only problem we have had is choosing our favorite pictures for our wedding books, frames, etc...
