I just moved here and needed to find a new hairdresser that is good with blonde. I got an appointment the same day I called which was great. I needed my roots done so that I was in regs for drill. Serious Heat Damage from a Simple Blow Dry I visited this salon on December 19th for a basic blow dry. No chemical services, no treatments--nothing complicated. It has now been over a month, and after multiple washes (most recently on January 24th), my hair still smells burnt and feels dry, stiff, and damaged. I have always had soft, sleek hair, and this has never been an issue for me before this visit. During the service, the stylist blow-dried my hair with the nozzle touching my hair, without the proper concentrator attachment, which causes extreme heat damage. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how serious this was at the moment. To make it worse, my hair was then flat-ironed afterward, causing double heat damage. This is not just a stylist error--it's a salon training issue. Any professional salon should know: * Blow dryers should never be used with the nozzle touching hair * Proper attachments exist for a reason * Excessive heat followed by ironing can cause permanent damage The fact that my hair still smells burnt weeks later shows the damage is not superficial. This was supposed to be a simple service, yet the consequences have been ongoing and very distressing. I'm leaving this review so others can be aware and protect their hair. A salon should know better and ensure their staff is properly trained. read more

Updating my review to include what was found when I had these awful extensions taken out today. The stylist that removed these extensions was mortified. The photos speak for themselves. The fact that there are only twelve beads and the weft was unattached and hanging means your stylist did a terrible job. The installation was not perfect and my extension issues are not because my hair grew too quickly. The stylist today also told me the hair does not seem to be real hair at all, it felt like plastic to her. She was mortified and so am I. I cannot believe I was so kind and so patient for weeks and this business did not resolve these issues or concerns. read more

Overpriced, Inefficient, & Impersonal Salon The ease of scheduling an appointment was great - same day service was offered. However, now I can guess why, because my review is all downhill from here. I arrived at the salon for a chin length shag cut and foil highlights at noon. Nearly 6 hours later (5:40pm), my hair was "finished" and it was time to pay the bill, which was overly exorbitant. My stylist took almost 5 hours to apply highlights & a gloss mask, then spent around 20 minutes only on my cut & style, which was nowhere near what I had requested. Although the manager (who was in every way polite & friendly) was present, no apologies were offered nor any discounts given. My overall review: An extremely overpriced, inefficient, poorly run salon. My hair color is quite nice (after the overly lengthy 5 hours of work), however the cut I was given is amateur at best and not at all the shag cut I requested ... I'll have to go elsewhere now to get the correct cut. Unfortunately, the About Me Salon in Vail was not a good experience for me. I have been here a total of 3 times. First time was decent enough with Krystal, She gave me a shampoo listened to my haircut and focused on me and cut it where I told her my part was. The second time I came in to see her I came in about 10 minutes early just to make sure I wasn't late. Krystal began to rush with her current client, I didn't rush or say anything just let her take her time. She walked her client to the desk and said goodbye. Krystal then went through and called me up without cleaning ANY of her station, no sweeping no disinfecting her tools etc. When I pointed out she hadn't cleaned up she stated "it is just a couple hairs" I set it aside and still let her cut my hair(this is actually a good way to spread lice and other diseases). During the cut the whole time she was just talking to the receptionist, making me feel like I was inconveniencing their conversation by getting my hair cut. 3rd time I go to get my hair cut with her she is running 20 minutes late for a starting shift of 10 am, I didn't stay this time. I am disabled and have to schedule my appointments with this. I would not recommend this place, Supercuts or sports clips would be better Update: Later I get a reply from the owner blaming Me for not confirming I was going to be at my appointment that if I missed would be charged for. Yes they did call my phone and left a voicemail 20 minutes before the appointment but was never received. Putting their lack of time management aside This stylist still is not clean nor customer focused, you'll get more attention from a grocery store checkout. read more

Got eyelash extensions put on on a Monday. They were already falling out by Wednesday. By Tuesday of the next week they were all gone. My husband said I should call them and get them fixed, but why waste my time? I just won't go back there. Expensive service for eyelashes that don't last the 2 weeks they say. The staff seemed friendly and the shop was ok. It was a bit weird that they do your lashes out in the salon where everyone is getting hair cuts. read more

I've never professionally waxed the unibrow or rocked fake nails (other than those old Lee Press-Ons when I was twelve, of course). It normally takes me twenty minutes to get ready each morning, tops. But lately I haven't been satisfied with the worn-down countenance that glowers back at me in the mirror. After Internetting furiously, I chose the nearest full-service hair salon for eye lash extensions, which out here in Vail is About Me. My stomach was clenched in knots as I shuffled ambivalently toward the reception area, but a smiling employee immediately picked up on my deer-in-headlights stare and gently welcomed me. The walls serenely reassured me that "it's a good day to have a good day" and reminded me to "live every day with intention." Once situated, I idly mentioned to my stylist, Arely, that I was terrified of going from lachrymose rabbit eyes to having arachnoid protrusions bulging from my eye sockets. After a brief discussion, we agreed on the "classic look," which means attaching one synthetic extension to each of my already existing eye lashes. She said I'd just look like I was wearing mascara, tooootally normal. Keep in mind that I was visually impaired throughout the whole process, but I'm told it goes something like this: You lie corpselike on a recliner facing into the sun with your eyes scrunched shut. Each prosthetic lash is individually dipped in glue and bonded to your natural eyelash, which takes around ten seconds to dry apiece. I was REALLY glad that I'd opted to remove my hard contact lenses prior to getting started. Even so, at some point, my eyes began to well up and spring a leak. Thanks to the knowledge droppers at Dr. Google, I was expecting anaphylaxis, scarring and blindness to ensue. Happy day, though...I'm just photosensitive. Eye hair dryers are actually a thing, believe it or not! According to Internet Experts, getting a full set of lashes installed should take up to two hours, but my glabrous lids only took around an hour. For that reason, I was only charged $120 (plus tip) instead of the advertised price of $150. *** "Hmm...those would be great for date night, but don't you think they're too much for every day?" my husband asked tentatively. After curiously evaluating my reflection for the last 20 minutes, I'd been wondering the same thing but would have preferred that he shut the hell up. They didn't look outlandish; just more glamorous than I look, well, ever. *** Arely had sent me home with some instructions, which I've followed with limited success. "Sleep on your back like a mummy" ain't gonna happen. I've continued to sleep in the fetal position - as God intended - without waking up to a pillow full of effluvium. I do wash my eyelids gently with some Johnson's Head-to-Toe Baby Wash first thing in the morning and brush my lashes with a plastic disposable mascara wand. Speaking of mascara, that's verboten. Other than that, it's not a huge change to my bare-bones morning routine. *** A few days later, and I've never received so many compliments from both friends and strangers after a run-in with a beautician. I'm not talking about from just the Karens and Susans in my age group, but the Taylors and Madisons as well. As it turns out, almost all of the mom friends sport these appendages and I'd never even noticed. So, it looks like I will be planting my decrepit ass back in that chair for an hour once every three weeks to get refurbished. read more

She is from California and I have never had such beautiful highlights in my life. She used to be in the Bay Area, is Bumble trained in New York, and it shows. New to Vail AZ and thought I'd try this hair salon. Read the reviews for this business and gathered that they might lack hair color knowledge/experience. So I decided to call and express my worries and asked to be scheduled with a specialist in color and not just anyone available. They booked me with Kristal. She was nice but had to color my roots twice to match my hair color (dark brown) at first my roots were colored lighter than my hair. So I had to stay an extra hour to get it fixed. She only blow dryed my hair rather than straighten it (which is what I asked for) and I'm assuming it's because of the client she had waiting. I came out with black hair dye all over my neck and face. Spoke to the manager to express my concerns and she said she wasn't there but it could have been a consultation miscommunication and appreciated the feedback... overall not pleased with my experience or how they handled my concerns. read more

I took my son here for the first time and I also was scheduled for me his mother to get my hair done but after his hair I wouldn't ever come back. I waited for somebody to Come to the front desk then where all in the back talking and laughing slowly walks out I had a apt which they didn't get to us for another 15 minutes then sat down get simple haircut for 12 year old boy and the haircut she took over a hour to cut his hair and kept stopping and looked like she didn't know how to cut it. Then hour and half I walk up to them and say almost done what's going on she said ya just finishing up I had to tell her the hair was chopped the pieces where different lengths and it was so bad I paid 40 bucks for a kids haircut at that and then I complained she said she can re do it another weekend I said why would I want to come get it more chopped up a lot of pieces where shorter then others I am not exaggerating it was worse haircut he has had great clips has done better for 20 bucks . Then the lazy desk goes back comes back in 10 more min and says we'll that's all I can do I never went back but some compensation would have been nice 40 bucks for kids haircut and bad one ridiculous read more
