Not having used a moving company in quite a few years, there was a bit of sticker shock to deal with, but A&B did come in low of the two estimates we received. We live up 3 flights of stairs, so the crew got quite a workout bringing our things down to the truck; then we met them 150 miles away for the unloading. They completed a FREE in home estimate, Jerry was efficient and professional. I did price-shop with two other moving companies, each not only more expensive but less thorough. Move day was a success. Mike, Roy, Matt and John were on time, efficient and handled our items with great care. These guys must have a lot of experience as all of our items (3800 Sq foot home) we loaded, unloaded and re-assembled without any damage. I do not recommend these movers under any circumstance. We hired them when we bought our house, and I would prefer to forget the entire thing. They showed up with a truck that was half the size we needed, and then blamed me for not giving them a proper inventory. I told them we were moving from a large 2 bedroom apartment into a 3 bedroom house, and they showed up with a truck that would fit a studio to small one bedroom apartment. The head guy raised his voice to me, and finally my husband left to rent a second truck (at our own expense) so that we would be able to finish the move. The moving team was slow and took lots of smoke breaks. They were unfriendly and unhelpful. I would never hire this company ever again. read more

I rented three Penske trucks from Above and Beyond at various stages of moving from NH to NC. Lena, who works in the office, was a pleasure to work with all three times. On the final stage of our move we rented a 26' truck and hired Above and Beyond to load it for us. I hired two guys, they showed up with three. They were supposed to arrive at 8:00, showed up at 8:45. Towards the end I wasn't sure if all my stuff would fit so I was prepared to order another truck, but the crew was able to get everything in, but it wasn't until I started unloading the truck in NC when I realized the lack of respect they had for my belongings. I had a Rubbermaid deck box they put a pub patio table on top which crushed the box. Luckily after a few days the box went back to it's original shape. My husband's bureau was not so lucky. They had placed the bureau on it's side and piled a bunch of heavy items on top of it causing the wood to buckle and warp. I can no longer close three of the drawers on this bureau. My daughter's bureau was damage as well. It now has five different rub marks and dents on the bureau because it wasn't wrapped properly. Another piece of furniture that was damaged was a couch table; leaving that with two rub marks and dents. When I emailed Above and Beyond to file a claim this is what I was told: "Mike the owner was the lead on the job. My understanding is that you had self-packed all of the boxes, leaving only the bulky furniture items to load. This makes it hard to pack efficiently, as boxes are normally used to fill gaps and tighten up the bulkier items. Mike expressed to me they had run out of pads for wrapping items and they had tried to use "blankets" but were given sheets as supplements. Unfortunately we are not liable for items that are loaded onto trucks we do not own and are not driving. I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do to help given the situation." May I point out when I unloaded the truck in NC I found a pile of blankets (not sheets) that were placed in between some items not being used. I'd also like to point out they had a bunch of packing blankets with them in the truck they used as transportation. If they needed more blankets then why wasn't I offered to purchase another dozen or so that were needed? I would not recommend using this company. They have no respect for you as a customer nor do they have respect for your belongings. I've used Above & Beyond for two moves - one from NH to NYC, and one from NYC to NH. Five years apart, and excellent service both times. With the latest move, I was moving out of a fifth floor walk-up in Manhattan - not an easy move at all! But Above & Beyond made it a breeze. The three guys were super friendly, efficient, and FAST. We couldn't believe how quickly they got everything out of the apartment - with five flights of stairs, we expected it to take much longer than it did! I had just moved from CA in December of 2015 to Hampton, NH. The movers could not fit everything into the storage unit so, what didn't fit, I brought to my rental. I recently bought a house in Peterborough so I contacted Above and Beyond for the moves. I was told they were coming from a move in Maine that day and they could pick up my things that I had at the rental, however, could not pick up the things from the storage unit because it would be too late in the day. They got to the rental late in the day and were able to quickly load everything from the garage to the truck in under an hour. For whatever reason, they never invoiced me for the move. I forgot about it and then months later, when I had to move my things from storage, I contacted them, let them know they didn't invoice me and scheduled my move. They again, had a move in Maine on Saturday and I was told they would pick my things up on the way back and deliver them on Sunday. I got the call from the driver, that they were at my house in Peterborough at 8:59 am on Sunday. I drove over to the location, was there at 9:10 am. They unloaded my things in 50 minutes, that was even with taking a 5 minute cigarette break. The driver went to his truck wrote the invoice and handed it to me. It had 2.5 hours for the unload! It also had 5.5 hours for the load from the unit. Far longer than it took my movers to unload it and position/pack it into the unit when I moved from San Diego. When I told him that was incorrect, he told me they were waiting for me at the house since 8:00 am. "Huh?" When I showed him my phone with the time stamp he then said they had a two hour minimum. I told him that I was not paying that invoice and I would clear it up with Trish or Lena from Above and Beyond. I immediately called the office and Lena answered. When I explained to her what happened and how upset I was she tried to justify things, then stated there was a three hour minimum!! I was NEVER told there was a minimum!! EVER. In addition, I have moved all over the United States and never had a mover tell me that. Typically you are charged by the hour and how many movers there are. Since then, instead of apologizing for their dishonest employee who is CLEARY trying to steal from their customer and deescalating the situation, Lena has made every excuse in the book!! She even threatened to call the police. AVOID these people at all costs! Had I never called them they wouldn't have ever charged me for my first move. I am an honest person, so I contacted them! And then to turn around and do this to someone, is disgraceful. Again, I have moved all over the United States and NEVER have experienced such dishonesty and unprofessional behavior from a mover in my life!! read more

In July 2018 we asked Above & Beyond Moving to move us for the second time in 2 years - again they came through, on-time and this time even under budget (because we were better organized ourselves and helped when we could and it was safe). We are recommending these guys so highly because they were personable, professional, very, very hard working (I've never seen movers almost run back for the next load as these men did repeatedly). I was also disappointed with these movers though I'm not sure I've ever had great movers. I would agree that it took them longer than we thought it should have and agree re: many smoke breaks. I watched them load and unload and they were pretty rough with our stuff at times. Some things were broken and the amount taken off the bill was minimal. read more

We used Above and Beyond twice in the last year (doing a house move in two sections) and were extremely happy with their service. We will absolutely use them again (though hopefully won't need to move again too soon). They came to our somewhat out of the way location twice to give estimates, were knowledgeable and affordable. On move days the guys were fast, professional, skillful and very careful with our belongings. There were no smoke breaks! On the day of our second move there was a scheduling snafu that could have been a disaster but the owner exhibited grace under pressure by making sure everything happened as promised.
