Should read 3.5 stars! Can you find a carpet cleaning service on Yelp? Well yes, you can.......you can also find a grouponish offer like I did and research them yelp, but either way, after checking out the feedback of other yelpers I had them come over and Yay! I'm a semi-fan. So why am I a semi-fan and not a full-on fan? The experience with them was a little trying. I called to schedule and they didn't reply right away, but when they did it was via email and for an appointment time 3 weeks out. Since I wanted the carpets cleaned before the holidays, I didn't reply. To make a long story short, even though we never actually scheduled, a technician was sent out anyway wasting that poor guy's time (since I wasn't home) and us having to formally schedule. When we did get formally scheduled, there was a snafu of sorts on their side; the guy that was scheduled to come didn't, was replaced by someone else (making him late) and then their schedule must have been messed up because his supervisor called me trying to find him. Also, for a Groupon-like deal (it's Amazon Local) where I'm supposed to be saving 63%, I ended up paying only slightly less than the last time I got the carpets cleaned. So to sum it up, my carpets are clean but with a little drama so Yay, I'm a semi-fan. read more

After reading my review the owner of Mr. Sparkle, Mike, called me up earlier today and was wondering what the problem was with the initial cleaning. I explained to him what the deal was, and he insisted on coming over and taking a look for himself. Initially I hesitated because I just didn't feel like dealing with it anymore, but after Mike insisted I finally relented and agreed to meet him today at 4pm. He arrived promptly at 4 and we discussed all the goings on of the day in question. He then insisted on making the situation right and volunteered to do the job over himself right then and there. Well he went to work and within a few hours I was one happy camper. The floors looked 10x better than when the previous guy was done and I was finally satisfied. I think it takes a real mensch to do what Mike did. Most business owners get a bad review and just wave it off to the cost of doing business; especially when the customer didn't pay full price for the service being done in the first place. I'm sure he lost some money on my whole deal and that's why he deserves a special commendation for doing what he did. Not to mention the fact that he volunteered to do the work himself. That's something you don't see every day. I would easily give them 5-stars, but I'm gonna have to hold to some principals and deduct 1-star for all the scheduling snafus, and not to mention the fact that it should've been done right the first time. However, I would still highly recommend this business to anyone because when they say 100% guarantee they mean 100% guarantee. read more

I got a Amazon local coupon for the cleaning. I have used several carpet cleaners througout the years, but this is my favorite one by far. 1. They are on time 2. The guy who cleaned my place was super nice. He offered to get started on my cleaning with the risk of getting a parking ticket. ( Because the street didn't have any parking). I helped him find a spot so he wouldn't get a ticket, but the fact that he was offering to get one in order to start my service on time says a lot. The quality of customer service is amazing. 3. They are very reachable and always get back to your phone call in a very timely manner. I highly highly recommend this carpet cleaning service. I don't usually say that for most "handyman jobs" like carpet cleaning but they are truly amazing. My carpets are so clean, and it is a "DEEP" clean. I bought an Amazon Local deal for Mr. Sparkle. I was very skeptical about it. To my surprise, I had no problem getting an appointment at a time and day that worked for me. The person that came to do the cleaning was running late, but called to say he was running late. He insisted that he clean our 2 runners to make up for his tardiness. He was polite, respectful, and helpful; the service was great! Besides the high level of service, the quality of the work was great. The house feels cleaner and there is no perfumy smell. The only problem I had was the time it took for the carpets to dry. BUT that's because it started raining in the afternoon and we had to close the windows. Mike is awesome! We live in Marin and our condo is up lots of steps, so his portable gear really worked out for us. Mike showed up on time, was pleasant, hard working and fun to chat with. We had rented our unit out for 5 months and the people had TRASHED our carpet. We hoped that it could be a bit better but did not expect that someone could get all of the heavy stains out in the traffic areas and around the furniture. We were actually surprised how hard he kept working over the areas. Mike said "he took it personally" in regards to getting the stains out and he did! Last but not least, Mike was very fair. The owner came, was extremely polite, professional and courteous, and worked with me and his crew to figure out the best, most efficient and cost effective ways of doing the tile and grouting work that was needed. I've had other contractors come in the past and give estimates, or do work, and they were not good at all, but these guys were great. And I liked that I was able to send him photos via text of the work that was needed for him to help give me a ballpark estimate, which he did very quickly and efficiently. AND THEN when he showed up, he did NOT change his story (like other contractors have done in the past to me). They have great, most professional equipment, they do a very thorough and deep cleaning of all the tile and grout first, and then refinish with very good quality grout, caulking and finish. I got one of those Amazon Local deals for Mr. Sparkle. I had no problem making an appointment, getting a time and day that worked for me. This service was great and they way exceeded my expectations. The guy showed up 15 minutes early, which is GREAT in my book. They did not try to pull any up-sell, there was no "Well, the area rug is going to be $20 more than we estimated." No BS. He got to work, did the job, and split. Dude was totally cool. To me, the best thing is my place feels really CLEAN now, and not that "cover it up with air freshener" kind of clean, but a real, deep, genuine clean that doesn't need perfume. So I am quite, quite happy. One thing to know: depending on the weather outside, depending on how many windows you can keep open (cross-current air flow) it can take anywhere from 6 to 24 hours until all the spots are your carpet are DRY. So, just be aware of that. I only wish they had Homer Simpson on a box of detergent as their logo, that's the only drawback (^_^) read more

I Hired Above and beyond to clean the marble and grout in a recently installed master bath in Mill Valley. When I Met Mike and he agreed to do the Job for $700 and spend about a day on it. I thought that was Very Expensive but was under pressure go get it done promptly and agreed. When Mike showed up hours late, he did some of it, and to be fair, what got done was very well done, but he declined to finish the job as he explained it would too difficult and would take too long !! (the difficulty of the task could have been discussed when he made the estimate). All in all he was on site and worked 2 hours, on a job that was supposed to take the day. I bought a coupon via Amazon Local and scheduled cleaning well in advance. I corresponded via email with a guy named Mike. I let him pick a date and time when it would be most convenient for him. I got up about 2 hours ahead of the appointment and spent quite a bit of time moving all the furniture so that it would make it easier for them to do their job. When no one showed up I emailed Mike, who responded back and said they were in the middle of a large job and wanted to reschedule for another day. At this point in time most of the furniture is on beds and in the kitchen and now he wants to reschedule. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable. If you are going to reschedule you should have emailed or called at least a day in advance. I asked if he could come later on that same day, he ignored emails and did not respond back. It felt like he could have cared less about people who hired him via coupons and gave priority to other customers. Obviously I was absolutely not interested in rescheduling as there was a very good chance he would not show up again .... not sure how you can run a business that way. read more

I bought a voucher for tile and grout cleaning (I forget through who) and honestly didn't have very high hopes. The first appointment was cancelled same day due to an equipment breakdown and I was annoyed. We rescheduled and planned to have AB Floor Care (aka Mr. Sparkle) do the cleaning and then we planned to seal the grout ourselves because it's expensive to have them do it. Mike said we could do that but he recommended we rethink it because he could apply colored grout seal that would make the floors look like new. So we decided to have them do it even though it was going to be $500 just for the sealing in the kitchen/family room area. They squeezed me in to do the sealing that day even though it was a very long day for him. I really wanted it done in one day and they accommodated me. First, Mike worked hard all day scrubbing each grout line and tile. He hand-scrubbed it, then he steam cleaned it and let it dry with a big fan. Then he applied the colored grout seal. I was stunned at how great it turned out. It seriously looked like new tile had been installed. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and it was worth every penny. I got to pick the seal color to be ordered for the bathrooms. We had them back the following week to do the bathrooms. Mike said if we spilled on it it would wipe right up and he was right. Our dog bled right on the grout line and I was sure it wouldn't come up. It wiped right off. They are honest, work very hard and do a great job. I've been with the same carpet cleaning vendor for years but I think I'm going to try AB for that too next time. read more

Update: the owner contacted me a day after I posted my review. He apologized for the delays and rescheduled me at my earliest convenience for a complimentary cleaning and sealant removal. The technicians arrived on time and completed the job satisfactorily. Bought an online deal, but have not been able to use it because the business will not schedule an appointment, despite repeated efforts on my part (multiple phone calls and e-mails over several days) to schedule one. Their excuse is that they have too many clients right now. Their poor customer service is inexcusable. If they're so overwhelmed with business, they should limit the number of vouchers they issue. A man named Mike came out to give a bid for exterior work that needed to be done on our condominium. First of all, he was 20 minutes late and did not apologize. He parked a few blocks away when there was parking in front. Did he not want me to see his car? He brought his 3 year old son and that was fine. He seemed as if he had awakened on the wrong side of the bed... not nasty, but not happy. I asked him how long he had been in business and if he was licensed and bonded. He said he had been in business 10 years and was licensed and bonded under the name Above and Beyond Floor Care but not under the name Roller and Brush. He said he was the owner. If he was the owner, he made a 1/5 star impression on me. Then he announced he was not interested in the job with no reason. I was surprised with the ratings he got on Yelp, that he was so unprofessional and I felt that he wasted my time. I explained the scope of work over the phone before we set up the appointment. I try to give small companies a chance because I believe small companies are the backbone of America.They are also being shut out by corporations. Very impressed with these guys. I moved into a place where the previous tenant didn't take any care if the carpet, and it was full of stains. We tried everything to clean them and they wouldn't go away. They got some guys over and in a few hours the carpets look brand new and the stains are completely gone! We normally use Sears for rug cleaning once a year and we see a little change in cleaning the stains. I just figured the rug was old and destroyed and that's the best they could do. This year I used a local Amazon deal and found this great company, that I will only use going forward. They use all green products and have amazing pricing. Our rugs look brand new! Old wine stains are gone, dog stains are gone, high traffic areas that were 10x darker are cleaned to perfection and the rug is actually a very light cream color...who knew!! At my place of work, the carpet was in very bad shape. It's at least 10yrs old and desperately needs to be replaced, which is unrealistic right now. We have had our office carpets cleaned many times over the years, but NEVER have they looked like brand new after a cleaning. This was a FIRST! They got stains out of the carpet which I thought would never come out---and this was carpet that was installed in 2011. The method used was so much better than any of the steam cleaning or Chem-Dry cleaning that we have tried before. It was great! read more

I would sincerely love to offer a 5 star rating for Above and Beyond Floor Care but am giving it four stars for the following reasons/need to know basis. We hired A & B to deep clean floor tile and seal grout (had never been sealed by the builder when the house was new). Mike and Ben are likable fellows and they worked hard (you apply grout sealer on your hands and knees, laborious tiring work). The issues I had are corner areas that missed getting cleaned by the scrubbing machine/or hand scrubbing and the tile buffing stage at the end which left some areas of grout product smeared/dried on the tile (machine buffing should have removed residue however they were having buffing pad issues). For the finished job to be perfectly done (the next day is when I noticed the areas that got missed) I had to hand scrub some soiled corners and buff some areas myself (@ my age, 70 years young!). The grout itself came out great (should never need to be resealed). Also, due to the size of the areas we needed cleaned/sealed I think it would have been wise for it to be a 3 man job vs. two. I realize that would cut into profit/bottom line but @ $1.50 sq. ft. (852 feet area) times 7.5 hours = good money (even after supplies are deducted). For the most part we're satisfied and can recommend A & B however make sure any issues are taken care of before they leave. Never having had tile floors cleaned/resealed I didn't know what to check/examine prior to them finishing (after they leave is too late). read more

I have porcelain tile floors that have a rough surface to mimic Travertine tile. Dirt tends to get in the nooks and crannies and it's difficult to remove even if you get on your hands and knees and scrub with a brush. At one time, I purchased a Hoover Floormate in the hope it could steam clean the floors. The Floormate was dismal for this purpose. When I saw the Amazon Local deal, I decided to give it a try though I didn't have high expectations. I don't remember the name of the guy who steam cleaned my floors but he did a very thorough job. I was surprised that he spent as much time as he did. I was more surprised by the results. Over the years, I had forgotten how the tile (especially the grout) looks when it is thoroughly clean. There was an area of my half bathroom he told me that he really could not do because it was too tight for the equipment but that was a very small area. So, all 'n all, a very good job, thorough and on-time. I expect that once my floors get sufficiently grungy again, I will use them again based on my first experience. read more
