It's not big, meaning that rarely are there ques and arranging an appointment is fairly straightforward. Keep in mind that their opening times are inconvenient for those who have a 9-5 but I think that goes for most banks branches.

I never really like banks, and this place is no exception. However, the service is good once you get past the slightly snotty reception desk lady and the manager who I talked to was friendly enough (perhaps a bit too keen but oh well). Lloyds has certainly picked up on the value of customer service and the importance of even the smallest account. Just make sure to be careful not to go even a penny overdraft or they will charge the cr** out of you. This is their main branch and it's in a rather imposing looking building. Head to the reception desk if you are confused to where to go (I was) and they will help you out. They could do with a bit more seating places. So compared to the rest, it's A-OK.

I use it as a back -up for my main bank account but as I have become older it has in many ways been the mainstay of my financial future. My only concern is that it does not become too big and loses the personal touch, I have always had 100% customer satisfaction and I am not that easy to please. Long may it last.

I had been a good member of the union for about 18 months,i saved and even had a small loan with them. However,i got shot of my own bank (LIoyds TSB)for the amount of charges they were levying against me so i called into the Hamilton place branch of the union to upgrade my account which would have included a debit card to be told "Sorry,we cannot give you a card as you are not in paid employment. Now,let me make my situation clear here. First of all,i wasn't some deadbeat on the dole,i am a genuinely disabled person who has his own house and i was getting about £220 per week clear from the DSS,my mortgage was paid for and i am rates exempt with no bad debts but still they refused me a poxy debit card because i wasn't in "paid employment". Well,suffice to say i am no longer a member of that Credit Union,in fact i now bank with a non-status bank who have given me a good Mastercard Debit card so up yours capital,here is one customer who is getting on all right without you and,as far as loans are concerned i joined another Edinburgh Credit union who cater for my loans request just nicely. The staff are nice Cash machines are clean and tidy.There is one outside the branch and one inside the branch. The queues can sometimes be quite long in here but the staff seem to get through the people quite quickly and you do not feel like you are getting rushed. The information desk is helpful i had a problem with my credit card and they helped me fix it. Opening hours are good apart from on a Saturday when they close at 1pm.

However, I've probably been over there out of necessity rather than choice, as there seems to be a real lack of reputable looking money exchange centres in Newington (correct me if I'm wrong!) The first time I was there, they seemed quite professional, requiring my ID and a signature for the transaction. However, none of that's been necessary the last two times I've been, and service is relatively quick. On one occasion, I was even directed over there by staff at the Royal Bank of Scotland to get better exchange rates, so I assume they give may offer a better deal from time to time!

What impresses…read moreme here is that when there a queue they bring out extra staff to work through the queue dealing with anything that the counter staff don't need to do - good peice of customer service. They have two counter areas - with the upstair one for higher cash transactions. there is also an are for customer services which is away from the queues so pople waiting can't hear you discussing your business. also have private rooms for discussing finances as well.

Since they're a smaller branch, they weren't able to accommodate my request but offered me an appointment for 15 minutes time at this branch. So I legged straight there in the pouring rain, a woman on a mission! I was seen to promptly, with the healthy balance of friendly chatter and focus on getting my business done. At one point the branch manager came over just to say hi, introduce himself and thank me for my custom. I was so impressed by the lovely man helping me it was great to have the chance to compliment him to his boss. So I was in and out in 45 minutes, business done, no dramas. I couldn't compliment them anymore on the great service and am one super duper happy customer.
