Stopping in for a little R&R on the balcony of the Mediterranean. This Marriott Hotel is located on a bustling side street of downtown Terragona Located about an hour south of Barcelona. Pricing for hotels in this area is a much better deal and offers access to great restaurants, beautiful beaches of the Spanish Riviera, plenty of shopping, and historical venues. The hotel offers parking for an additional fee although spaces are much tighter than what you would find in the US so don't plan to get an oversized vehicle in this parking garage! The folks at the front desk here are exceptionally helpful, offering maps, directions, and any special assistance which we fully utilized when one of our locks got stuck on a suitcase! Rooms are sparse and moderately sized, but are clean have all the basic amenities, including safes and air-conditioning. The lobby provides a business work area, the lounge in the evening, and the area in the morning, where breakfast is served, continental style at an additional cost per person. Super quiet, spacious rooms, impeccably clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Walter, the maintenance guy (I believe) helped me back into a tight space in the garage--he literally spent a good 15 minutes, if not more. I will certainly go back!!! read more

This is a very nice hotel-easily lives up to its 4 star rating. My room was quite large (for Europe) with everything I wanted - even some things I didn't (like the bidet). It's a boutique-style hotel (it's a chain so it seems less boutique-like to me). There's a FREE mini bar in every room--but don't get your hopes up too much because there's no booze, only bottled water and Coke. The front desk staff were nice and were very tolerant of my limited Spanish. The location is good, but that really depends on were you need/want to go! The interesting parts of Tarragons are a little hike (uphill), but I didn't see any hotels closer to those areas. One big negative -- the AC calls themselves a "Marriott" hotel, however they don't participate in Marriott's reward program. As far as I'm concerned, earning points for free or upgraded stays is the only perk about any hotel's rewards program. Without, it, calling yourself a "Marriott" is of no benefit. read more

We came to this hotel by accident after having a bad experience with a different one in Salou and having to escape. We were able to make same day reservations in July and have no regrets. Features: 1. Very helpful staff, especially Victor, who helped us immensely on the first arrival, even with our poor Spanish/Catalan skills. 2. Nice businessperson's hotel, clean comfortable rooms with usual nice AC bath and good bedding. 3. Good location - right off the Rambla Nova and blocks away from the downtown and old city. Also the Little train tourist ride stops a block away and takes you right into the old city. 4. Decent workout facility with free bottled water. 5. Amazing rates, especially when we were there. 6. Nice food and room service. My only complaint is that the breakfast buffet cost 20E (not terrible) however they charge full price for all children, so our family of 5 with children 8 and 9 would have cost 100E, so we chose to eat elsewhere. This is in contrast to the AC Hotel Gava Mar which charged nothing for the same children. Had either place charged 10E for each child I would have eaten at both, instead we only ate at the Gava Mar buffet. 7. A few blocks from a nice large shopping mall. Overall I would highly recommend for business and leisure travel, and it was fine for families as well. read more

Okay, it's a nice hotel in most ways: executive styling, decent size rooms that are well-equipped. The downstairs area is spacious with a cafe area and office space, which are useful for meetings. Don't bother using the public computer; it's slow and old. Since my last stay, the furnishings have taken a beating. There were scratches and stains on the dresser and bedside table areas. The light in the bathroom mirror was broken. I had to dock a major star because of one serious design issue. The bathroom doors in the rooms are a semi-opaque glass. It's pretty embarrassing for privacy. Besides the glass, there's about a one inch gap around the door. I don't know why they couldn't just put normal closing doors on. It's creepy. Lastly, I think the hotel is somewhat overpriced. Get a Marriott rewards account (free) before you arrive or at check-in to get free wifi otherwise you have to pay over the moon. Parking is also expensive, but the location is good and you can sometimes find on-street parking across the road. read more

Booked room with Marriott rewards points. Requested room on upper level with king bed. When we checked in for 1 night on July 16 we received a room on the 2nd floor with two small single beds. Not at all as requested. The nighttime concierge (whose name I did not catch) was extremely unhelpful. He said the hotel was full and we could talk to the concierge who came on in the morning about it if we were unhappy. The hotel advertises 24hr room service, however, the nighttime concierge said that there was no such thing available. When we asked if there was anywhere open for food nearby, he said he did not think so (it was around midnight when we arrived in). The next morning as we took a taxi to the train station we passed a 24-hour McDonalds that was just down the street from the hotel! Overall very disappointed with our stay at this hotel and disgusted with the guest services on our arrival. What a waste of my rewards points. Would not recommend. read more
