Exactly what I would expect from an AC hotel. Crisp, clean, modern and minimalist. Great location in the heart of the city, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Parking is at the garage across the street but it's easy so no complaints.

Family vacation 2021...bringing the California variant of COVID-19 to your city. The AC Hotel Grand Rapids was a surprise stay for us. We had no intentions of staying in Grand Rapids. Our original plan was to drive from Detroit to Milwaukee with a stop in Holland on the same day. A 7 hour drive. Instead, we decided a last minute change was needed and cut the drive times in half. This AC Hotel is located in Downtown Grand Rapids. Without staying here, I never would've know how trendy a place Grand Rapids was. Check in was quick and easy. This was the first hotel that we stayed at that sealed the doors after housekeeping cleaned the room. We were given a nice room overlooking the parking lot with a downtown view. The beds were comfortable. It was also the first hotel on our road trip that had soap, shampoo, and a conditioner dispenser in the shower as part of Marriott's program to reduce the use of plastic containers. It was a "fancy" brand that I never heard of. Breakfast was not provided for Platinum and above Bonvoy members. This hotel closed it per Michigan's COVID guidelines...the same guidelines that allowed the Marriott in Detroit to serve us breakfast. We were given points in lieu of breakfast. They have a parking lot out front. You have to wave or honk at the front desk clerk so that they can open the parking lot gate for you. It was an okay stay. Grand Rapids is a very nice area to visit. I'd give them 4 stars if they had provided more than just points for breakfast. I'd love to come back when COVID is over and everything is back to normal.

We generally stay at JW MARRIOTT just across the way...this time we didn't want to lay down that kind of money ..so we're at AC Hotel...we weren't sure what we'd be walking into...Abbey at the front desk started out nice and friendly..briefing us on the parking available in the area..she let us keep our Jeep in front while we went up to room 712...it's one of the weirdest rooms I've ever seen...a camouflaged door is the length of the wall..very heavy to open..strange SQUARE toilet...ONE hook...outside of bathroom sits a sink without a back to it..so be careful your items don't fall and break..I do like drawers but couldn't find right away..of course..they're under the refrigerator (not in the area where it seems to make sense)...like where the bed and tv are located..or even perhaps next to or beneath bed stands ...the floor is a manufactured laminate/vinyl so don't walk in too far with wet shoes...Abbey (no name tag so maybe spelling wrong) described the room (s) as European..not quite sure what that meant...we will back our bet and stay and pay for now..but..NO WAY would we return

Overall nice AC, great location, but very LOUD. Check-in: Although I'm Titanium Elite and requested a 3:00 pm check-in, I wasn't be to check in until nearly 4:00 because of room availability. Front desk staff was overwhelmed. Said they'd call my cell when the room was ready, but they didn't. Suite night upgrade resulted in a rather bland upgraded room. Room: Seemed like a standard AC room but with a couch added. All standard amenities including little refrigerator, micro coffee maker, etc. Bathroom: Ample counter space. Shower only. Lighting could be better. Bed: Decent king bed, not great, but not bad. Housekeeping: no room housekeeping during our two night stay. Sleep quality/noise: This is where the AC takes a big hit. Street noise is horrible, even on the 5th floor. Interior hotel noise is higher than normal but not extreme. But street noise is so bad that we woke up several times each night. Gym: tiny gym on the ground floor. Staff: Front desk staff saved us. For some reason Uber doesn't operate in the early morning. We had a super-early flight and no Ubers were available. We called the front desk in a panic and a really nice lady (trying to recall her name, perhaps Janet or Jeannie) got us a taxi. Tips: Don't waste a suite night upgrade here. Also, I'm very disappointed in Marriott's suite night upgrade availability in general. It's turning out to be a scam because only the most mediocre properties honor the upgrade requests.

My and my girlfriend came to GR to take a downtown beer tour, and decided to try out the new AC Hotel downtown. I'm thoroughly impressed with the amenities in the room, especially the bathroom. But the real draw is the great building that houses the hotel, and the awesome lobby/bar. Not to mention that the proximity to spots like The B.O.B., GRBC, and Founders. Also, the staff has been fantastic. Definitely try this hotel if you're staying downtown!

Food options - they had nice options for onsite dining. I was able to enjoy a dinner at Knoop on the 8th floor. It was a happening place. The food - excellent! The rooftop deck - lovely. Staff - friendly and they hustled. The room - it was ok. I like the simplicity. There wasn't a dresser with drawers. There was a side table that had drawers. It appears I might have been in a room that was designed to be handicap accessible. Which is great to see they offer accommodations for everyone. The challenge I had was the shower bench that folds down from the wall made the stall more narrow. I love that they provide magnification mirrors for primping...however for this room it was mounted low - just above the counter sink. I wasn't able to use it. The complimentary handsoap - was not appealing. I used it without thinking twice because I have never experience "offensive" smelling hotel products...flowery yes, but never offensive. This had "charcoal" in the name and it seemed appropriate because it smelled like something was burning...yuck. I didn't enjoy it at all. Thankfully I bring my own toiletries. I didn't use theirs. Parking - Love the valet service - not cheap but worth it if you are there for a work trip and work is paying. They also have a garage you can park in behind the building. Surrounding area - there several great restaurants within walking distance. If I return to the area, I will definitely try to stay here again.

My accommodations at The Hampton were extremely spacious (much bigger than my room growing-up, that's for sure) and the walk-in shower was huge! Update to my previous review …read more... My third time staying here to visit sick family and each experience has been easy and wonderful! Thank you. Wonderful experience! From start to finish I had a great experience and it's in large part due to Parker, a front desk employee. He/him is professional and friendly and upbeat, a joy to interact with and very helpful. I have been coming to Grand Rapids from the Cincinnati area for the past three weeks and will be doing so for the unforeseeable future... I am in town to visit a sick family member and it's all very difficult so to walk into a hotel and to be greeted with genuine enthusiasm and kindness is everything in that moment. I went to my room with a smile after spending a day in tears... truly thank you for having such wonderful employees. Okay, as far as the hotel is concerned... loved my room and the shower was amazing! They had shampoo and condition and body soap on the wall full of decent products.... I had forgotten body soap and hate bars so I was very thankful for the body soap! Everything was just easy..... I am an early morning person so I was heading to the hospital early each day and completely forgot they have a free breakfast... family member's that had the breakfast said it was great- cousin grabbed oatmeal and berries I think she said each morning on the way to hospital.... Finally, one of the nights I was in the lobby with a cousin waiting for another family member and when we were all ready to leave for dinner I neglected to grab my purse from the chair.... So after about 30 minutes I realized it and was devastated, assuming it was gone for good...I started thinking about all my losses and the credit cards numbers I'd have to call and then I called Parker. He/him found my purse and we came and got it.... Again, such a wonderful and kind exchange. I had a big bag of Costco chocolates in my car I promised her and on my drive home I saw them in my rear view mirror-- Parker- they are headed your way next week... and genuinely, thank you for your amazing and kind service!

Inconvenient when there's two people taking an Inconvenient when there's two people taking a shower. Also the showerhead and the position of the door was not in a good position. It would be better if the door was by the showerhead so you could open the door turn on the shower to get warm. I'd actually get sprayed every time because I had to step into the shower to reach the water. Also, in the lobby, most hotels have coffee available for their guests. There was an empty counter near the elevators that would be perfect. Sometimes it's just nice to offer free coffee to your guests that tastes better than the pods in the room. One downside was that the air conditioner was extremely loud, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I also discovered that while my room door locked, the deadbolt wasn't functioning, which was a safety concern. On the plus side, there are several bars and restaurants within walking distance, which made it easy to explore the area. We even stumbled upon a nearby concert while out walking, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, it was a decent stay with a few issues that, if addressed, would make the experience much better.

There was a scrapbooking convention and a few sports teams, but I found that the accommodations were pretty quiet on the sixth floor. The kickback meals were huge and delicious, and they had allergy friendly options for both of breakfast and the dinner for my big Allergy baby. There was a small fridge in the room that worked so well it froze a lot of our supplemental food we brought for those of us with allergies. The room was clean. We had laundry on our floor, which was incredibly helpful when my baby product exposed to an allergen. The front desk was able to take the cache I had and give me quarters for the machines. They had speed queen machines, which were efficient, but they definitely could've used a little bit of a cleaning. I didn't expect a lot since it was a hotel, laundry room but I was pleasantly surprised. If you don't have any allergies staying at a brewery, can save you so much money with all of the food choices. This is one of the best ones I've ever seen, and all of the staff was kind helpful, and communicated very well. Unfortunately, we didn't do the pool much just because of how packed and insane it was... the weight room could've definitely used a little spruce up. There were only three treadmills a recumbent bike and dumbbells up to 35 pounds. I was still able to get an OK workout in with the dumbbells, but a mat and inflating the ball would really go a long way. This hotel is an excellent area close to a target/Starbucks a Meijer 5 to 10 minutes from Cascades Park, which was perfect for my kids to get a little energy out after our travel day.
