My oldest daughter expressed interest in learning more Hebrew, so we looked for, and found, a wonderful Hebrew tutor. Tamar works with both of our daughters at the same time (during the same hour) but manages to successfully individualize their Hebrew instruction. Over the course of the year, Tamar has learned what motivates them and how to motivate them! She is very patient with both girls and is so supportive of their progress. They both look forward to working with her because she is just so genuinely encouraging. Tamar cares about their Hebrew instruction, and it shows. She has brought over games, songs, and supplements that continue to engage my girls. Both girls have improved their Hebrew tremendously. My oldest is a fluent reader and while preparing for her Bat Mitzvah, is also simultaneously learning Hebrew as a language. My youngest has learned all of her letters and is an emerging reader (with consistent, steady progress). Tamar is warm, gracious, patient, dedicated, caring and works engaging her students. It's essentially a homework lounge where you can get get your homework done and have tutors on site to help out with questions. My daughter liked using the Glencoe location for that and would also book hour long sessions with their tutors when she felt like she needed extra help. This location is too far to just drop in so we stopped our membership (and maybe will one day join their future near New Trier location when it's time for high school). However, I occasionally book tutoring sessions with their tutors. We've tried a bunch, but when it comes to math my daughter has enjoyed working with both Kyle and Young. She said they do a great job of explaining concepts and are fun to work with as well. They also always send notes the following day on her progress, strengths and/or weaknesses. ' Again, sad there's no longer a Glencoe location, but great to have a membership if convenient to get to for your middle/high schooler on a regular basis. If not, great option for on demand tutoring, which is what we've been using it for.

The tutors are super nice and helpful, and they make learning fun and interesting. The lounge itself is really cool - there are lots of bright colors and comfortable spots, which makes it cooler for kids than being at home. I've been sending my kids to The House Tutoring Lounge for a few months now, and I've already seen a big improvement in their attitude about school. They come home energized by having their work done and feeling like they've got a handle on school. I highly recommend it!

My son did both Math and Reading when he was younger, and it helped him to get ahead and be placed in the gifted track in school. Then we came back to this location in the summer before 8th grade because his reading scores had gone down during the pandemic lockdown and hadn't really recovered. We wanted him to improve his reading skills in preparation for his high school placement assessment in the fall of his 8th grade year. After only six months of Eye Level Reading, his MAP score and high school assessment scores were back up to the high 90s, and the highest since before the pandemic lockdown, and he secured his placement in the Enriched Honors courses for high school. What's great about Eye Level is that it assesses your children's strengths and weaknesses and only focuses on the areas they need support. My older kids have done Kumon before, and that program only works with repetition, which is not the best way to learn for a higher-achieving child, in my experience. Once your child masters a skill, they move on, instead of forcing him to do ten additional packets of the same thing. What's great about the Northbrook Eye Level is that they send automated reminder notices the day before each class, which is very welcome for a busy household, and they are incredibly accommodating and responsive when we've had to reschedule classes due to my son's activities. My son liked his instructors and learned a lot from them. I'm very grateful to this center for helping my son get his Reading scores back up to where they should be -- and for giving him the skills, strategies and confidence to be able to take the standardized tests in school.

Silas and Emmy were no exception and helped them review for their math tests. I also received notes from each of them a few days later recapping how the session went, which is super helpful for a parent.
