First, know this owner Wes, takes down bad reviews!!! I put one on google and he got it taken off fast, so no telling how many other bad reviews he did that with. Then instead of telling me he couldn't do it the day I asked for, he didn't want to lose the move, so he got some buddy of his who was wreckless, slow and didn't know how to pack, with some other dude that was his first time, and only one person of Wes's crew AND HE DIDN'T TELL ME IT WAS NOT THE CREW WHO APPARENTLY THE GOOD REVIEWS WERE WRITTEN ABOUT. I was promised 4 guys, and 3 showed up. He tried to charge me for the 4 anyway till I pointed out only 3 showed which he already knew. Out of 30 moves in my life it was the WORST by a long shot. I still continue to see several 1000's of dollars worth of damage from what they did, since they loaded it end of May from the small apartment to storage unit. Once I recently moved things from the storage unit, the 2nd movers (not academy - never again) were aghast with all they damaged and showed me before they touched it. My previous review on google that Wes Wiley removed was this: Wes said he could send his crew out for their second job the day I needed them. Then the day before he called to have them show up early that day without informing me it was only one of the men of his crew. The other was someone who had only moved once and the other was his friend and the 4th guy didn't show. I was still asked to sign initially to pay for 4 till I pointed it out and he changed to charge for 3. I chose this company for the crew that had so many stars and didn't know he wasn't sending them out. The only crew guy from Wes worked for hour and half coming back and forth from my apt and I never saw the other 2 till after that. I assumed they were doing the small storage closet but then Wes's friend said they were going to "start" the storage closet at hour half in. I don't know if they were arranging the truck or what during that time but the truck should've been ready to go when they got here. For more stuff than they moved I had 3 nonprofessional friends move me in a third of the time in 100 degree heat 7 months prior. My friends also wrapped everything. This "professional" crew wrapped not one thing. I had all the materials to do so but they didn't even use them and they brought nothing to wrap. Wes's friend placed my expensive Leather recliner down and stacked heavy things digging into it on top of it to stay for months in storage that was already leaving a mark and misshaping it when I made him change it. The placement in storage was so unorganized and chaotic that it used almost 10 feet more than it should've in my storage costing me more in storage. Then when I had to step away to look for a hotel for the nite bc they took longer than expected while I was gone they took it upon themselves to place the heaviest items in another storage I didn't give them permission to use as I was using it for another purpose and needed access to everything in it to sell and other items I needed to use immediately. They took it upon themselves to rearrange what I purposely placed in order. When they said they were done and had closed both doors I saw they left my expensive office chair and a big ladder just sitting outside the storage in the hall. It took 10 1/2 hours to move a tiny 2 bedroom apt. I've moved several times in my life and without any comparison these were the worst movers I've ever had including professional and nonprofessional. It will take me having to hire someone else to protect everything and reload the whole thing all over again that's how bad a job they did. Wes tried to accommodate by taking some money off he said but it still cost me almost $1500 for a day I worked so hard moving heavy things all day just to get it done that I shouldn't have had to do at my age with health issues that got worse as a result. Wes should've just said no his crew was booked or at least let me know he was sending 3 not 4 and only one was his crew. The crew I got just didn't care what a mess they left me in and how hard it was on my body having to do so much of their work. In addition I hired a handyman the day before to take down the tv so nothing would be hard for them. They didn't use the TV box I bought and in addition when I got back to the apt I saw they left the box on another floor so I wouldn't see it apparently. The tv was placed in storage with absolutely no wrap around it at all like everything else. read more

Wes and his crew were amazing during our move from Crowley to Midlothian. They showed up on time, with smiles (in 95° weather and high humidity), and worked really, really hard. I would recommend Academy Movers to anyone looking for a moving company. These guys really know what they're doing and take great care and pride in their work! The owner, Wes was so accommodating and made this very stressful move, very easy. Of course, we also had to deal with rain and nothing was ruined, or damaged. We hired Academy Movers to move my mother-in-law and her 90 years of memories from Burleson to Austin. Wes and the entire team were FANTASTIC. The packing including the wrapping and packing of a JILLION ceramic and porcelain trinkets as well as a valuable and sentimental collection of Hummel figurines. Everything was very well cared for and the team worked efficiently and quickly. They packed one day then drove and delivered the next day. And Wes even showed up to pack us up on his birthday!
