Not a big fan of the açaí here. Came to try the smoothies instead and it was ok. It's a new location so it's really clean inside. They charge for all toppings unless you order the bowl that has those fruits on top. I will probably skip this place and head to blue bowl honestly.

It's in a cut off small parking lot shared with a Starbucks/with a Starbucks drive thru.

The service was quick! We were only getting a mini Acai bowl though. The wait was awkward but it was not the staff's fault just other folks were standing around waiting for their orders. It's very quiet in there but it's better than loud music. Lol the bowl was delicious though! Thank you!!

Could not have been happier. From the moment we walked through the heavy wooden door (fancy!) until we left- the host, the waitress, server, manager and even the owner were amazingly attentive and welcoming. When it's your birthday they put a nice sign at your table and everyone stops by to wish you an amazing bday. They also check in to make sure you're having a good time and enjoying your delicious meal. Now for the food: fresh, al dente and tasty. All adjectives you want running through your mind after the first bitesss. We ordered stuffed mushroom- hot and nicely seasoned. Mushrooms not overcooked and stuffing not overly cheesy. The shrimp linguine another hit with fresh tomatoes and jumbo shrimp with a nice snap. The light seasoning with lots of garlic was just perfect. We also ordered the beef short ribs. My friend said it melted on her mouth and the fresh mash potatoes- just right. Did I mention the portions were huge! Lots of goodies to take with us. To add to the dining experience we watched as patrons steadily came and went throughout the evening. You can tell this is a favorite for many. There were High-5s, handshakes and lots of "Welcome back friends!" Just an overall beautifully decked out neighborhood restaurant with so much heart and soul. I heard that the restaurant has been handed down from their grandparents... I'm sure they would be very proud. Highly recommend.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

I opted for the soup because it was Friday and they had clam chowder. Soup was decent, typical diner clam chowder with crackers. It could have been a little hotter, but I enjoyed it. The burger and fries were the star though! The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly and the bacon added a great flavor. Fries were crispy and salted well. Almost forgot I also got an egg roll to try because it had been so long since I had one from here. It's huge! Super crispy outside and a nice amount of filling. They give you hot mustard and what I thought was ketchup but honestly I'm not too sure. Either way, they were great mixed together to dip your egg roll into. My waitress was pleasant and attentive which I appreciate. My booth was a bit saggy so I'm going to have to go back again and try a new booth each time till I find the perfect one. Decor still hasn't changed since I've been going here and I love that! Don't ever change!

I've never been disappointed in the quality of the fish on those Fridays I go, especially after they updated the breading to be a more seasoned and crunchy variety. That being said, I've sometimes been disappointed by the service at the usual location I go to as sometimes it's taken ages to get my next piece going and onto my table. There's been more than one occasion where I'll finish a piece and the next one will take 5-10 minutes to get to me. At this location the waitress was awesome enough to get the next piece going well before I'd even started on my current piece. She even had two in the pipeline instead of just the one that I thought was standard practice. As always, the ambience was cool here. It matches every other location I've been to. I think I like the area better. It's part of a much larger shopping area than the my normal spot, but it's well away from the freeway, which means you're getting less of that road weary crowd and more of the people who want to be there. I don't know how often I'll be going to this location because it's kind of far from home, but it's nice to know there are alternatives when I'm feeling like 5-6 pieces of fish and have grown weary of average service elsewhere. Good service is a nice bonus and this one has that in spades over its sister spots.

There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime.

The host immediately greeted us with a warm smile, explained that it was a full-service restaurant, and made us feel welcome right away. We were seated almost immediately, which was a great start to our visit. The food definitely lived up to the service. I ordered the chicken plate since I don't eat mammals, and it was flavorful, juicy, and cooked perfectly. My partner ordered the large beef rib. At first, he was surprised because the meat was served off the bone instead of on it, but after the first bite, that didn't matter anymore. The flavor was rich, the meat was incredibly tender, and it quickly became one of the highlights of the meal. One thing you shouldn't skip is trying the different BBQ sauces. They offer three varieties, and each brings something different to the table. My personal favorite was the original it complemented everything perfectly. If you're looking for delicious BBQ with genuinely welcoming service, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing and you feel like you are transported to a different era! Kevin was one of the best servers Iv had in a long time, he gets 5 stars!! My wife and I shared the 2 meat plate and added the beef rib bone and a happy hour portion of the brisket fries. I eat a lot and we had a lot left over! The ribs were perfectly smoked and not overwhelming and did not even need sauce on them! The brisket was a little on the dryer side but was still pretty good The beef rib was a little heavy on the pepper for my taste but was still great and not many places offer a Dino sized beef rib The brisket fries were loaded with cheese and brisket and were amazing The Mac n cheese and creamed corn were fantastic however the creamed corn was a little on the sweeter side but was still full of flavor The corn bread is a must to add on! It's not overly sweet but more of a perfect balance of sweet and savory and paired with the special butter, it is perfection! We spent about 100$ total for ALOT of food and had plenty of leftovers. All in all this restaurant does a great job if you want authentic bbq! It's not like Lucille's or Dickeys, this place has real bbq and because of that it will be my new go to for bbq!
