I inquired about their adventure tours. They no longer offer them. Unfortunately, the hurricanes that struck the island in 2017 devastated many locations and trails, plus the insurance issues. After 22 years of tours they had to call it quits. The only one they kept doing was the camping tour on Mona Island (off the west coast). The pandemic and earthquakes of last year put a halt to that. While there is still a possibility they do them again, it may take a long time because of the conditions of the harbours. They need repairs. For the meantime, the focus is just the store. No tours. Bummer. Still, the store is the best place to get hiking and camping gear. Great selection, quality products, and knowledgeable and friendly staff. read more

Lately I have been interested in camping. I want to take my 3 year old on a little camping trip. I'm sure he will love it. My nieces recently went and they loved it. My husband took me to Acampa to look at camping gear. I really like this store. They have a nice inventory of camping related products, as well as for hiking. I'm sure you will find some items at the sporting goods section in Walmart or Kmart for less than you will here. But you won't find everything you will find here, nor will you find the quality. Also, you can't beat the knowledge the staff here has. You can tell they live and breath the outdoors. It's their passion, from the owner to the employees. And they are nice. I would say if you are really interested in hiking/camping, this is the place for you, whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced. I know I'll be returning. read more

I'm writing this review super late but I couldn't just ignore it. The best part of our December PR vacation was this amazing rainforest adventure. I literally can't put into words how fun it was and our tour guides Cristina and Ludgardo were amazing. My BF and I did the whole day Toro Negro tour and were picked up bright and early from our hotel in San Juan. Rappelling, zip lining, climbing up a waterfall...literally the most fun, exhilarating and exhausting thing I've done. Worth every bit of exhaustion by the way. The home cooked meal was also delicious. I came out with a few battle scars but that's only because I'm not the most active person out there. Also, biggest tip I could offer...BUY shoes that have good traction. Maybe like water shoes or something you don't mind getting dirty because the Nike sneakers I had on were a horrible idea for me. A lot of the rainforest involves waterfalls or water in general so it's very slippery if you're wearing basic sneakers like I was. Lesson learned. Anyways, we LOVED the tour and would definitely do it again. read more

We went on the TORO NEGRO all day adventure and had a blast. The description on ACAMPA's website is pretty accurate: you do some hiking, some zip-lining, you taste some yummy fruits and have a lot of fun. We are a young couple (grad students) that fits more in the couch potato than the super active category. The activities were just the right level of challenging and they were extremely well paced such that you could always catch your breath. I was majorly impressed by the degree of professionalism from ACAMPA in general and our tour-guides (Raymond and Reynard) in particular. For me this was not an outdoor adventure only: it was a learning experience. I am curious person and for every question I had (whether it was about the roots of a plant or the history of the region) got answered. At the end of the trip we had an extra treat and we tried freshly brewed, locally grown and roasted coffee. I took a sip and next thing I was asking when their coffee tasting tour is so I can sign up. As students we were on a tight budget and this adventure was definitely considered splurging. Looking back I think our day trip was well worth the money and I'd to it all over again in a heart beat (and I'd plan our vacation better so I can do the coffee tasting tour too). read more

Recently did the Mucaro 1/2 tour with the friend which consisted of hiking up a river and 6 ziplines. If you have done neither (Hiking through natural rainforest terrain or Zipline) then THIS is the tour that I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend! It's a great introductory adventure that'll leave you craving more. I initially was going to book with another tour company but they didn't have the tours or days that I wanted, and I'm so happy it ended that way so I could experience Acampa! I had two amazing tour guides: Debbie & Eduardo. They were so funny, lively, informative but most of all, safe! It was very funny to have been stuck on a tour with a whole Bridal bachelorette group from Chi-town & most have not done stuff like this and of course, they had many many questions. Eduardo was very sweet & patient with everyone, answering every question and even more. Throughout the tour, they would make precautions to make sure every single person crossed a certain point or got through a tough climb, they shared information about the Puerto Rican plants, trees, neighborhoods, animals and more. I'm the type of person who loves to know everything I'm involved in. I don't like to dive into something without walking out without some form of knowledge. (Hey, you never know if a Jeopardy question will pop up about it! ;P) I was initially scared to Zipline when I first started the trip, but throughout the hike I felt more and more comfortable with Debbie & Eduardo that honestly all my fears subsided and I was the first one to take off! Now, I do have experience hiking/climbing/rappelling. I love to take adventures on my own, find waterfalls and jump from them, all that crazy stuff.. so next time I'm back in PR (hopefully soon) I'd like to do the full day Toro Negro tour. Traveling during the low season has its perks and I'm glad that there were enough people to form a group this past week when my husband and I visited PR for the first time. What everyone says is true, it is normal to feel anxious at first but once you get over the games that your mind plays, you will find yourself truly enjoying this one of a kind experience. Christina and Raymond were beyond fantastic and they alone deserve 5 stars. They guided us throughout the entire tour with patience, energy and moral support so that we could fully enjoy every part of the trip. The company's approach to ecotourism demonstrated an obvious respect and appreciation for Mother Nature and a love for the Puerto Rican culture. The only suggestion I might make is to have another guide who could perhaps be in charge of taking pictures of people and capturing it onto a CD that can be taken home by the participants of the tour. This past week, my two roommates and I went on Acampa's Toro Negro Waterfall and Zipline Rainforest adventure during our vacation in Puerto Rico. Without a doubt, it was the highlight of our entire time there, and one of the better travel experiences I have had. From the time I made our reservations to the drop-off at our hotel, it was well-run and highly professional. To start with, the customer service before our tour was outstanding. When I emailed about booking a tour, I got a fast reply with all the details needed. Originally, we had booked the Mucaro Zipline 1/2 Day adventure, but because too few people signed up for it, Acampa offered to move us to the full day tour at no extra charge (as it needed more people), which we gladly accepted. I doubt it happens often, but how nice! Hashing this out over the phone was a breeze, since Eduardo was so friendly. On the day of our tour, a van came to pick us up right on time, and we were welcomed by our amazing guides for the day, Raymond and Raynor. To say these guys love their job is a huge understatement, and their passion and excitement is contagious. Both of them seemed intent on tailoring the tour to the interests of the group, and answered every question in detail. After a 90 minute drive to the rainforest and up its twisty, narrow mountain roads through a very remote village, and then a pit-stop at what is apparently the only gas station/store there, we suited up with all needed equipment and set out. It's not the most physically demanding thing I've done, by far, but the tour is not for "indoors-ey" types. We got wet and dirty almost instantly. Hell yeah! The trails themselves are fully curated and pretty tame, but along the way we hustled over some wet rocks and climbed up some waterfalls. As we got closer to the 3000 mile summit, we saw some jaw-dropping vistas and canopy views. It was beautiful. Peppered throughout was Ray and Raynor's dialogue about the rainforest, and its many creatures and plants, some of which was saw. The way back down was by way of ziplines for the most part, which honestly weren't fast/death-defying enough for me, but then again nothing is. Still fun! At the end, we were treated to a traditional Puerto Rican meal cooked by the locals, which was delicious and much needed. Ray/Raynor hung out with us a bit afterward, and continued to impart their knowledge about the rainforests, local culture, food, and lifestyle. On the ride back to San Juan, they even pointed out some attractions they recommended, and welcomed questions about things to do and see. Just really nice dudes. Acampa is clearly an incredibly well-run company, and our tour was amazing. We'll definitely be back for more, and I can't recommend booking with them enough. ¡Trabajos increíbles, amigos! read more

I've done the Full-Day Toro Negro Rainforest Ziplining Adventure twice now. Terrific excursion! The tour guides are purely professional (this round I got to adventure with Raymond and Reynard) and are genuinely wonderful people who care about the rainforest. Our group of four was picked up in Old San Juan and we headed down towards Juana Díaz and then through Villalba into the mountains to our Toro Negro Rainforest destination along with seven other people. We stopped at a little gas station/convenience store/bar (aka the "downtown" of this tiny mountain town!) about five minutes from the final destination so we could use the last working bathrooms until after our tour and grab some food/drink. In the morning, we hiked and climbed waterfalls. Great exercise; especially since PR had gotten a lot of rain as of late and the waterfalls were strong! Once again we had an amazing Puerto Rican lunch (served buffet style) and some down time to just relax and soak in the beautiful mountains after eating. I wish I had brought my yoga mat to do a quick practice. The afternoon was full of ziplining! There were even a few new/different paths and ziplines this time. Since it was passion fruit season, we got to eat a LOT of them and even brought some back that day. We got to sample a few other fruits along the way, too. After all of that we headed back to the gas station/convenience store/bar in the tiny mountain town. My friends and I decided we had "earned" some shots after all that hard work. Four shots of Don Q were $3! For serious?! Here was my convo with the bartender: Me: Cuatro shots de Don Q, por favor. Bartender: Okay. Me: ¿Cuánto? Bartender: Tres dólares. Me: ¿¿Que?? ¿¿Como?? Bartender: Tres dólares. Me: Um, okay. Who am I to argue paying three dollars for four shots of rum? Anyway, the trip was once again fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend it. We just got done today taking the full day rainforest adventure. One word....incredible! Our guides made it fun, educational and really like old friends. The climbing, zip lines, the waterfall repelling was a real adventure....the lunch served after by a local was great, I had two plates. A nature hike with zip lines, we climbed up river and zip lined down. The guys were super friendly and very knowledgeable. Great tour with great guides Advice: wear shoes with good grip that you don't really care too much about. Bring dry clothes and flip flops. Also, bring snacks - you can leave them in the van Photos - don't bring your smartphone or expensive camera. Get a cheapo one, preferably waterproof. This tour company is amazing. We found them online when we were searching for waterfall tours and boy are we glad we did. To start, the booking itself was a good experience, they called to confirm when we booked and then they called a day or two before the tour to reconfirm. They also sent us follow up emails after the tour. We went on the Toro Negro tour. They were very punctual and arrived a few minutes prior to the pick up time. The guides, Raymond and Reynard are amazing, very knowledgeable, comforting and encouraging. We also got to try some of the different fruits that were ripe. And learned a lot of random facts. And to end the perfect trip we had food homemade by a local. You definitely felt like they cared about your experience rather than just getting your money, like a lot of other tour companies. We did the toro negro zip lining and rappelling all day tour. $159 pp. definitely worth the price. The group was only 10 people so it was great to do this with extra attention from the guides (Raymond& Christina). Both were super helpful and informative. Raymond was just full of knowledge of every plant in the rainforest I.e. What could be harvested for food, what could be used to burn as candles, how many times of mushrooms live here. Acampa did a wonderful job leading us through the rainforest in San Lorenzo. The half day tour cost $125 plus tip and was really one of the highlights of our trip. It's an exciting, active departure from sitting on the beach all day for sure and the perfect thing to do on a cloudy day. On the day we took the tour, Ray and Raynard picked us up at the hotel bright and early in the morning. It had rained all night and was raining on and off during the day. We climbed directly up the river and made our way back down via multiple ziplines. The guides took our safety into account and were great sources of knowledge. Some locals who let us park in their driveway had fresh pineapple and mango waiting for us upon completion of the tour. Great tour! Not for the inactive... wear old sneakers with good traction. You will probably throw them out afterward. read more

My wife and I wanted to have an adventure in one of the rain forests during our trip to Puerto Rico. We read great reviews about Acampa on Yelp and TripAdvisor and decided to do their full-day adventure in the Toro Negro Rain Forest. Our guides Reynard, Francisco, and Giovanni picked us up on-time and were very enjoyable to spend the day with. It was apparent to us that they were very knowledgeable about the area and the plants and animals we encountered as well as had a great joy of being in the rain forest. We did some hiking, rock climbing, rappelling, and zip-lining. There were fresh water creeks and waterfalls that we walked through or climbed on. We saw some wonderful things, beautiful wild flowers, amazing trees with crazy root systems, coqui frogs, gigantic snails, and all types of wild fruit trees. Reynard and Francisco were very friendly, funny, and patient. It truly was a wonderful adventure and the Toro Negro Rain Forest was absolutely beautiful. Be advised: you need to be in at least OK shape to do this tour. They picked us up at 7am and dropped us off at 6pm so it was a full day of activity. We feel it would be equivalent to the activity of running a 5k. At the end of the tour, we enjoyed a fabulous meal cooked by some residents in the nearby community, ate a banana picked in the rain forest, and we bought some coffee beans that were harvested from the rain forest and roasted to perfection. **this is a customer service review** We had a tour scheduled to go to the Toro Negro Rain forest. Expecting a confirmation call 24 hours in advance and having receive none, I called to confirm. I was told that they were trying to get more people signed up since the majority of the participants were canceling. "Okay - but you could have called earlier to warn me so I could inquire about alternate arrangements." Later that night, we were told it wasn't going to happen because we were the only two confirmed. Disappointed we made a last minute trip to El Yunque the next day with a different vendor. Two days later as we were taking a shuttle to our dive site, the driver was explaining other things to do and recommending Acampa to other passengers. He told them about the Toro Negro rain forest tour that he took up there the day before!!!! THE DAY THEY CANCELED ON US?!? Lame. The company should have either found us another tour provider or quoted us a private tour cost instead of canceling us at the last minute. read more

I had an awesome time on this adventure tour! Before making a reservation to Acampa, I did my due diligence and researched all of the rain forest adventure tours. I read through over 150+ reviewed all across different tours from different companies and read the pros and cons. Acampa seemed to me the best fit and had the highest reviews across the board. I was scared at first because the idea of zip-lining, water rappelling, and climbing up rocks is a bit intimidating for someone like me who is not as active, however the whole tour is not that strenuous and actually more relaxed than I thought. After completing the tour, I checked marked a lot of things on my bucket list to do's. Zip lining through the rain forest was breathe -taking, nerve wrecking, and adrenaline filled fun- especially for someone like me who has never done it before. The tour is a good mixture of appreciation of the rain forest through knowledge of the plants and animals that live there (provided to you by the awesome tour guides-Raymond and Alex) and the adventures mentioned above.I highly highly recommend doing the all day tour. It really is not that strenuous and from previous reviews, everyone who did the all day loved it! What to bring: - Backpack -Camera ( I used my iPhone and just bought a waterproof case which works because you won't be submerged into water.) -old sneakers or water shoes (don't wear hiking shoes unless you don't mind having it get soaked in water. -backpack (important to have) -maybe a towel -snacks but not necessary because you stop by at a small shop and there is stuff you can buy there. -change of clothes -your credit card ( you pay day of) What to expect: They pick you up. My pick up time was 7:15am (someone in our group was late for their pick up so my real pick up time was like 7:35) No biggie but don't get nervous if they don't come pick you up on time. We drove for 1 hour 1/2 to the rain forest. I slept most of the time. Then stopped at the small shop to buy snacks. drove to the spot where the equipment was and we loaded our equipment (zip lining and water rappelling stuff) into our backpack. walked like 5 minutes to a waterfall and there is an area where you can dive in and its pretty fun Climbed up some rocks- that was really fun There are a total of 5 zip lines 1 rappelling- that was a lot of fun and really safe and the best part was truly learning about different plants and animals and seeing them live. Ends at around 2pm with a lunch that is provided in the end. It was delicious. I highly recommend doing this if you are in Puerto Rico. These guys are sooo passionate about what they do that it's ridiculous. They are soo super nice and make a point to remember your name. They made this tour super awesome. FANTASTIC adventure tours! My wife and I recently did the Salinas Kayak and Toro Negro tours, both of which were amazing. Pros: -Tour guides are experienced, personable, knowledgeable, and fun. -Acampa offers unique tours. For instance, the Toro Negro tour is done on private land that is owned solely by Acampa. -They will pick you up from San Juan or Isla Verde. Salinas Kayak highlights: learned about the ecosystem, i.e. mangroves, manatees, starfish; kayaking in clear, calm, warm Caribbean waters; general scenery (Salinas is beautiful!), Lunch was amazing (some of the best seafood I have ever had, especially the octopus and grouper), paddle boarding, exploring private beach/island. Toro Negro highlights: lots of waterfalls that we jumped in / hiked / climbed / took pretty pictures of, learning about plants and wildlife, ziplining, views from the mountain, rappelling, traditional Puerto Rican lunch. Also a great workout! Tips: -Consider getting a GoPro camera to take on these tours. -For the kayak tour, bring snorkel gear; there were a number of fish around the private beach. -On the Toro Negro tour, bring long sleeves and pants. This is for the bugs, not the temperature. Hiking pants that convert to shorts would be ideal. Under Armour might also work. Summary: Why is Acampa so good? It was founded by people who were established in other fields, but decided on a career change to do something they are truly passionate about. They focus on building relationships with the communities where they do their tours, which allows them to do more than other tour companies. Genuinely great people and a well-run company. If you love the outdoors and are an adventure junkie...put on your hiking shoes and let Raymond and his buddy guide you through the magnificent rain forests of Puerto Rico. This is one of the best experiences I have had on my travels...It was great being around people who love the forest and are so passionate about what they do. They made sure everyone on the tour was having a good time and put a lot of effort into making our forest experience exciting and insightful. We got picked up from our hotel in a van and drove through the hills towards the forest, stopped for some coffee and got on a dirt road....the ride was a little bumpy from then on but it was worth it....got off the road, put on our helmets and then as we hiked a little bit into the forest we were asked to jump in a hole at the bottom of the waterfall in ice cold water....what??!! was my first reaction...haha...good joke...but then I figured he wasn't joking at all....the next thing I knew I was standing on the edge of a slippery rock looking at a waterfall in front of me and a hole below and splash!!! I closed my eyes and took the plunge...I was sucked into this cave where the water gushed in from all sides and I could feel my mind and body go numb against the cold water, the water pushed me back up and I was where I started and as I gasped for air and took Raymond's hand to climb back up I was ready to do it all over again. It was crazy, fun, mad, exciting and it set the mood for the day.....I knew this day is going to be fabulous... Next, we climbed up waterfalls, zip-lined through the forest- we did 6 ziplines and I think doing 4 would have been sufficient. It wasn't as exciting and thrilling as I thought it would be and I think I would go Zip-lining again only If it were the fastest/ tallest/ longest Zip Line in the world.... but I enjoyed being in the forest and the experience none the less. We also ate some delicious local food, picked bananas and passion fruit from the trees ...it can't get any more organic than that and above all met some great people and made new friends. Raymond also suggested that we check out the local market near our hotel ( La Concha... AWESOME) for some fresh coconut water, fresh fruit smoothies and juices which were absolutely divine and YUM!! They also carried a camera and took pics...which I guess they email to you, I'm still waiting on our pics from the tour which I'm sure will be awesome. I absolutely loved Acampa and our guides and thank them for a beautiful and exciting day in the forest . I highly recommend them, Going hiking with Acampa is a must do activity when in Puerto Rico. If you are considering this tour, stop and just book it. Don't be scared. The guides are great and helpful and you CAN do it if you are physically healthy! I reviewed the half day Mucaro Zip Line trip on Trip Advisor (5 stars, obvi). My sister and I went on Friday 9/02/16 (with Ludgardo and Cristina) and then I returned (alone) for the full day Toro Negro tour on Monday 9/05/16. Ludgardo was my guide again, along with Rey! I was so glad to see Ludgardo again, and a little sad that Cristina wasn't joining (she was on an intense hike nearby), but Rey made our trip complete and I wouldn't have had it any other way! The chemistry between the guides kept us giggling as we faced fears and soaked in the breath taking scenery. Rey has an easy-going sense of humor, knowledge of all things coffee, and expertise at taking awesome pano's and selfies. He pointed out life everywhere he could from ripe berries and fresh pinas, plaintains, bananas, snails, tiny birds and he even caught a cute coqui and released him after giving our group of 11 a close up. Ludgardo knows how to push and challenge his clients by encouraging us to try things we didn't think we could accomplish, giving very specific tips about when and how to use crack(s in the waterfalls for better footing), and by genuinely believing in the competence of each of us. He would show us techniques to spin on the zipline, take ROTATING, IN-AIR SELFIE VIDEOS (for real!), rappel through torrential rainfall on slippery ledges, and represented a close relationship with nature, including humans. It also rained on this tour, as expected in a rainforest! Because of the warmth of the rain on the Mucaro tour, I unwisely left my rain jacket in the van assuming the rain would be of similar temperature. Turns out, I'm not an expert on rainforest climates! The rain was very cold and I was wearing a thin quick-dry tank. DO PACK A WATERPROOF JACKET! Ludgardo, being a gentleman, lent me his and suffered through the cold! I hated being that unprepared visitor, and there were others without raincoats who were also very cold with no reprieve! However, 15 minutes later we came to a waterfall where the sun broke through to warm and dry us all back up for the upcoming ziplines. Oh, and the local food was BOMB! We had chicken and ribs, cassava (very much like mashed potatoes that are slightly sweeter), fried bread fruit, and Rey's favorite, momposteao (seasoned rice with red beans). Oh man, I'm getting hungry just thinking of it. Please experience this trip. It's well worth the small price and I wish I could go 3x a week for the rest of my life. I WILL be back. My girlfriend and I were very excited about our 1/2 day adventure with Acampa. Boy, did Raymond and Josue not disappoint. We had a great time from start to finish, enjoying the beautiful scenery, the adventure of climbing waterfalls, learning about the land and the plants and animals that live there, and the fun of the ziplines. Safety was a top priority for the guides, and they handled the group of small children with us with the greatest of ease. Whether you are single, a couple, or a family with kids, an Acampa Adventure tour is definitely a must do while on the island of Puerto Rico. We have gone on many "adventure" tours previously in Costa Rica where, as the saying goes, everything can kill you. So the chance to relive similar experiences in PR got us very excited. Adcampa is highly rated everywhere you look and rightly so! We did the full-day tour and it wasn't cheap, nor was it the most dangerous. The wildlife in the Toro Negro Rainforest is pretty benign; there're no poisonous snakes or dart frogs, or things that can kill you unless you're allergic to wasps, plants, etc. But the tour took us to a "private" part of the rainforest, and included zip lining, a 100-ft repel, and an educational hike (our awesome guides were Alex and "Raynard" - sorry if I butchered the name). The waterfall, trails, lunch, mountainous sceneries...in short, epic! Book a tour and go! read more

We did the Toro Negro full day tour. It was awesome. Our tour guides Christina and Reynard were awesome, informative, patient and very helpful. Would recommend this tour to anyone that wants a real rainforest adventure. The food at the end of our tour was very tasty, authentic Puerto Rican food! Luckily that day we went it was not raining, but rain or shine this is adventure is worth it. read more

Super fun. Definitely not too physically demanding, most will be able to do the trek if they are in reasonable shape. While the views were awesome and the activities fun, the guides were the ones that really made the trip. Kind, silly, and incredibly knowledgable- Lugardo and Reinard (sorry if I'm misspelling those) were perfect. The friendly little dog Rin Tin that follows you around was a nice little bonus! read more

A friend and I went on the full day tour and had an incredible time! Our two tour guides, Raymond and Reynard, were awesome, fun to spend time with, really knowledgeable about the plants, animals and history of the area, and really put together a great trip. We did ziplining, rappelling, rock climbing, some brief hiking, wading through waist deep water and mud and had a blast. These guys really have the best interest of the land at heart and are passionate about sharing their knowledge and love of the area with others. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more

Just did the 1/2 day Mucaro adventure today. It's awesome! We were picked up at our hotel around 7:10 am in the morning. Hardly any waiting around. Acampa only does small group tours for this trip (like less than 12 ppl) so everything's very well organized and efficient. The tour was a lot of fun and unique. More challenging than ordinary Yunque Rainforest tour! Lots of river trekking, waterfall climbing and ziplining... definitely gives you the full experience in a private rainforest! read more

Highly recommended, I don't know why more people aren't posting a review on Yelp, there seems to be a lot of review for them at TripAdvisor. Having just returned from Puerto Rico during Labor Day, I have to say the Toro Negreo Rainforest and Zipline Adventure was one of the highlights of my trip. I didn't have trouble signing up over the phone or arranging for transportation pickup. I was a little hesitant at first about what would be included in the $170 adventure, but as soon as we started I was impressed. I was promptly picked up at our hotel (we stayed at the La Concha) at 7am and started our hour drive to the southern part of Puerto Rico. We had 3 tour guides with us (Raymond, Reynard, and Cassandra) and I would suggest asking for them if you ever get a chance to sign up, they were terrific. They know their history and know all the animals, plants, and highly trained in safety precautions so I never felt like my life was endangered, even when I was ziplining across the rainforest. At the very beginning they told us they wanted to have all of our senses working, tasting fruit (passionfruit everywhere?!! I literally grabbed them off the ground and ate them), smelling plants, hearing nature, seeing beautiful scenery, and feeling the excitement of climbing and ziplining. I climbed a waterfall!? How does that happen?! It was nuts. Lunch was a homemade feast of chicken, pork, rice and beans, yucca and plantains, and all the crazy passionfruit we picked up along the way. You will get dirty, wet, and there is a lot of hiking and climbing. So if you're not into that kind of stuff and can't handle a full day of physical activity, this is not for you. I was fortunate to go with a group of 7 young physically fit tourists, so we hiked at a very fast clip. Waterproof camera is highly suggested. I ended up tipping them since I liked them so much, they also gave me restaurant recommendations for Old San Juan. I would definitely do this again. read more

My Toro Negro hiking/ziplining tour with Acampa was the highlight of my trip to San Juan. Raymond and Reynard took great care of us and shared their unique knowledge of the forest and all of its vegetation. They were friendly, helpful, professional and were clearly very passionate about what they do. When I return to San Juan, I will definitely take another tour with Acampa. read more

Really enjoyed this trip. Alex and Raymond are very informational and the zip lining and rappelling were very fun. My wife and I both really enjoyed this and would do it again. The price seems high but is worth it and comparable to other full day rainforest tours. read more

Raymond and Eduardo made this an adventure to remember! The half day of ziplining and hiking was a blast, and I learned so much about the environment...the plants, the animals, and about Puerto Rican culture in general. I definitely recommend this company! It is so personal and fun. read more

Our tour of the Toro Negro rainforest with Acampa was one of the highlights of my trip to Puerto Rico. They promptly picked us up at our hotel at the designated time and after picking up a couple more people, immediately set off for the rainforest. The day was chock full of jumping in pools, wading through rivers (sometimes up to your chest, climbing over rocks, climbing up waterfalls, hiking and of course ziplining. All of this under the careful (yet unobtrusive) help of our guides Raymond and Renand (sp?). They also served us a delicious homemade lunch of typical Puerto Rico cuisine (Lechon, mofongo, plaintain tostones, etc). Both my husband and I had a fantastic time and if we're ever back in Puerto Rico, would totally go back and book another tour with them. read more
