Access TLC Home Health Care took on my home care after being discharged from the hospital with a broken ankle. Being on non-weight bearing status for an extended period of time required special adaptation training and acquired skills. RN Petra was very thorough & professional in her review of my situation, including supervising medications and limitations. She made recommendations to check with my doctors and made sure I had everything I needed. I felt she listened well to any concerns and questions I had so that I was comfortable being at home with assistance from family members. She shared a story on a situation she'd dealt with that gave me a lot of hope about getting through this time. Physical Therapist Kristi is a delight! She's been in the profession for many years, which means she brings a wealth of experience. Even more, she applies that wisdom with a fresh sense of figuring out what works best for the individual patient. Several times I was discouraged with the challenges I faced to follow the doctor's orders, while still needing to do practical things, like get up the stairs. Previous injuries (and fears) came into play. She made sure that I had time to rest and regroup before moving forward. And she voiced the right measure of encouragement without making me feel in any way patronized. Well done! Her reassurance and problem-solving skills gave me the confidence to try again and triumph. Her personality is so well suited to her job. The joy is the way she shares it in such a genuine way. I felt truly cared for, heard, and encouraged to make strides. I achieved measures of independence that were valuable, like being able to get back to work. I still need help from others until the cast comes off. However, Kristi also reduced the load others have to carry for me by teaching me safe ways to care for myself. We even collaborated on a new way to handle stair climbing that produced an "aha!" moment. Worthy of a high five! Based on the experiences with Petra and Kristi, I feel that there are likely other team members at Access TLC with similar skills and outlook for the way they care for patients. read more

As an organization that services the healthcare needs of special populations this company falls short of reasonable expectations. A brief exchange with front office personnel makes obvious marked deficits in the areas of reliability, communication, professional conduct, emotional regulation and follow-through. If this is any indicator of company culture and overall professionalism company-wide, I would encourage those not limited by service area restrictions to strongly consider an alternate agency, one capable of meeting the sensitive needs of those they service, and whose customer service interactions better reflect the company's mission and values. For those subjected to the monopoly Access TLC has on the Ventura county service area, I cannot stress enough that you will likely be better served by avoiding any case-handling by office assistant, Gabriela P. This individual is tasked with the critical role of proofing and submitting paperwork (on your behalf) to state-level agencies. Several business days after initiating contact and verbally confirming receipt of documents and stating they would be submitted I received confusing telephone call in which she claimed no independent recollection of our conversation and reported an issue with the paperwork (which she had cleared days prior). This resulted in further authorization delays because the documents had not even been submitted. When confronted with an account of prior communication she simply blamed the situation on her having to "manage hundreds of client forms" (as is her job). Rather than apologizing or admitting fault Gabriela became argumentative and tried to take corrective action to swiftly cover her mistake. When pressed multiple times for an alternate resolution she interrupted repeatedly, mid-sentence, and in a bizarre act of gaslighting, accused me of actually yelling at her. After asking for her supervisor I received the same maltreatment from "leadership" who was again dismissive of the confusion and mistake they created. It was an unfortunate and frustrating encounter. The ordfeal was nothing short of a messy disaster. I disagree with AccessTLC's policy of delegating high priority tasks to an office assistant, rather than a case manager. For reasons mentioned, a more senior person should be appointed to serve in this role. Please be sure to request written or email confirmation from this organization on every aciton they claimed to have taken. A paper trail is necessary. When possible, contact any involved third parties to ensure a task has actually been completed irrespective of any claims made by AccessTLC. Do not trust, only verify. You cannot fully trust an organization that employs individuals who operate in this way. Access TLC advertises themselves as a palliative care provider, as well as offering home health and hospice care services. But my experience as a client looking for palliative care has been very disappointing. One or two people in their office seem to understand what it is but that's as far as it goes. And I came to them through my UCLA primary care doctor's office. The two main pillars of palliative care are managing symptoms and continuity of care. We were kind of hobbling along, stopping and starting, then they changed their computer system and it all came to a halt for a week and a half. I called numerous times and with the exception of one nurse visit everything stopped. So I am returning to my previous agency who doesn't offer palliative care in particular but seems to do it nonetheless. I liked all of the providers that came from Access very very much and it makes me sad to be cutting ties with those people. They are without exception, high-quality, kind, and very, very capable. So for any other services, I think they would be great. read more

I've been home, waiting for services for two weeks. So far, nursing services have come 3 times. PT has come for an assessment, but no services. OT and social services were ordered but haven't shown. Essentially, I have researched my own exercises for PT and since my hand /OT needs are so unique, I really can't come up with a plan. So I have lost 2 weeks in trying to recuperate... all due to delay. Maybe I should have stayed in rehab hospital. Nursing services are good and up to par. The office manager was really clear that she is in charge. Oh well... and here I sit, still waiting for services. Thank goodness that the rehab hospital loaned me a platform walker, otherwise I would be bed bound and losing a lot more muscle mass. I am very disappointed. read more

I'm pretty disturbed and upset with the fraud going on here. I got a call from DaRaujane with CenCal about an ECM program. After giving her info to see if I was qualified; she never sent me the info of what she sent to CenCal. I did get an "Approval" letter but I haven't heard from them since. I drove to the address on the letter which is not at all this address and they were not there. It was a therapist's office who had been there since July who told me someone used her address and to contact building management about it. I'm disabled and homeless. I suspect my health insurance and appointments with my psychiatrist may have been messed up bc of this. Everything has been an extreme struggle since giving them my info. A lot of runaround for necessary medical supplies and treatments with CenCal and I haven't spoken with this ECM company since. She honestly sounded like someone from a church in Carpinteria. I got a Member Survey from CenCal in the mail and the questions were the EXACT questions DaRaujane asked me. I don't appreciate the healthcare fraud, HIPAA violation or ADA discrimination from them and everyone else that's increased since this. They're supposed to help with care management. I can't even get a psychiatrist or optometrist appt... read more

Absolutely the BEST! A+++++++ Before my mom passed away in May 2020, we used Access TLC's home healthcare many many times. Each time they came, they treated my mom with respect and educated us on how to care for her in between visits. Each person who visited was professional, friendly and treated my mom like their own mother. Two days before she passed away, she was in the hospital. It was her decision to come home to pass. From the moment I notified Gina at Access TLC and throughout the entire process, the nurses/staff who visited our home to check on my mom were empathetic, caring and gentle with my mom. They educated me throughout the process on what to expect and how to keep my mom pain free. I can't speak highly enough about the care they gave my mom. Thank you Access TLC!! This has been the worst experience. This agency shows no empathy to the elderly and sick. My moma couldn't get shower assistance, or timely therapy. Everything was a fight. Every type of service requested took enormous efforts and time to get done. It took them two weeks to send someone to wash her. The staff does not return calls as promised. I can't imagine the care they would've given my moma if I would not have constantly call them. I must say, my advocacy didn't help much. read more

If I could give it a zero star I would. This company is only about the owners making money and it is not about their employees and it's definitely not about the patient. I came to this company for my mom for home health because it had a five star rating but as you dig into it the five star rating was not even for home health care services it was for something else. So that is misleading. They do not return your phone calls. They have the staff call you the night before they are coming to let you know that they'll be there at whatever time they choose with no notice and no regard to your life or your schedule or your work. The staff members who have come to my moms are really nice however the management at this facility is horrible they do not communicate with each other and nobody knows what's going on. But they do miss lead you by letting you think you have a registered nurse coming and it's an LVN or that you think you're getting a physical therapist or an occupational therapist but it is an assistant. I don't like that they're not being upfront with this. The last place we were at we always had a registered nurse and always the physical therapist and occupational we never had to deal with the things I'm dealing with here.. My mom was home for three weeks before OT even showed up and they came for three appointments said they would call and have never called or returned. If you call and let them know your concerns they act like you're the enemy and that you were being unreasonable. I definitely do not recommend this company at all there are better ones out there. Unfortunately I left a good company to come to this one thinking it would be better for physical therapy but it is way worse mostly because of management and they deceive you by thinking you're getting an actual physical therapist but you were only getting the assistant. From what I can tell they give their staff their directions for the next day after they're done working so they receive their orders between 5-7 pm and then those poor workers have to call all those people that they are going to see the next day and I think these people have to do this on their own time they're not even getting paid to do this which is really wrong and it's a terrible way to do business. Again to me and my family this appears to be deception on the owners part and that they're only about making money for the owners and they don't really care about their staff And when I say stuff I mean the people actually going to the patient's home the staff that works in the office are not helpful at all I've been in medical my whole career and I've never seen anything as bad as this for home health. They outright told me we're only here to train me because Medicare won't pay and they said, "we're coming in and leaving as soon as possible Because Medicare doesn't pay and then the workers come and they don't even know they're supposed to be training you. I'm trying to get my mom in with another facility this one is not working at all. As a caregiver to both of my parents and trying to work full-time and manage my own household it would be really wonderful if this company would take scheduling seriously and not make people have to either not be there or miss work at their beckon call... extremely frustrating this should've been a time of joyous celebrating as my mom survived but only to come home and be frustrated by this company's ongoing neglect and lack of concern. I would not recommend this company. I feel like I really tried super hard to work with this company to accommodate everybody's needs their side and our families side and they just not willing to want to work with us. My mother was going home from CMH Hospital on Hospice. Of course it was overwhelming and not what we had planned. After talking with 2 other hospice company. We decided on TLC. I won't lie it was a little ruff the night she came home . Not because of TLC but because Kaiser Permanente discharged coordinator Mabel had her going home at 730 pm. Nothing good happens with a late discharge. TCL nurses were very nice, compassionate, respectful and knowledge. My sweet Mamma passed away the next afternoon. This is a very professional, well run company. I needed someone for 3 days when my husband had to go out of town unexpectedly. I contacted them on fairly short notice and they responded quickly. The caregivers they sent arrived on the dot and were professional, knowledgeable and well trained. They are client oriented and go out of their way to accommodate special needs or requests. I shopped the rates at this company and two others and Access TLC had the best rates and offered full disclosure on costs and billing at the initial meeting. This has been extremely disappointing experience not because my mother in law is terminally ill but because the nurse Michelle is rude and unprofessional and the social worker Kristy is also extremely unprofessional. My mom was with TLC and was also in an assisted facilities. They gave her the additional help needed doing her remaining time. The staff, nurse Jill, was so attentive and made my mom life very comfortable and was very knowledgeable of what needed to be done. Wow!! What else can I say about TLC except, AMAZING. My mom was in a tremendous amount of pain during the last few months of her life. TLC made sure we had EVERYTHING we needed to bring peace to her. Anything we needed or requested was delivered, without question, in a timely manner so my mom's comfort was never neglected. Nurse Elizabeth was kind, compassionate, and caring. She gave daily updates to us regarding my moms health. She went above and beyond the call of duty. Aide Liz was kind and patient in taking care of my mom. (which is a mammoth task because my mom was stubborn and particular). The owners and all the staff were attentive, detailed, and above all, caring and understanding. I never worried about the care my mom was receiving, NEVER. I felt positive she was in good hands and TLC did not disappoint. After my moms passing, they reached out to the family offering support and assistance and even had dinner sent to us. They followed up with the funeral home to make sure all the services were in order and went smoothly. This is a wonderful company that I would highly recommend. I cannot speak highly enough about Access TLC and the incredible staff who came into our lives when our grandmother entered hospice in our home due to advancing Alzheimer's Disease. Manager Gina, Tika our lifesaver and RN/Case Manager, angelic nurse Stephanie, Kristy our empathetic and extremely helpful social worker and the my savior and bright light, Nancy, our home health aid who was with us every day in our home, were all incredible. Not only was the entire team lovely and professional while caring for gram, they provided support and guidance for me as the caregiver when I was exhausted and looking for answers and wisdom and someone to tell me to take a break! Our young children loved them all so much and were as excited to see them every day because of the warmth and affection that came along with them. After putting my mother in law on hospice she went down hill fast. Josette RN guided us to make decisions based on what she wanted before getting so sick.
