As most of you know my parents are retired and are in the process of placing their house on the market so they can move south to Tennessee. Things need to be done in order for the house to be placed in its best condition to ensure my parents get the best bang for their buck when it comes to the property. For the most part they have done things on their own, painting rooms, replacing floors, etc. However, given my father's age he reached out for help to deal with the siding of the roof and soffit's. This is where it gets ugly. My parents hired Top Notch Contracting to come take care of this job. Dad had some appointments out of town, so the work was left for them to handle with nobody on site. Today these guys showed up (unannounced) didn't check in with my parents to say they were on site and just started to unload their equipment. My dad went out to discuss the issues he had with the various mistakes that this "contractor" has performed. Upon the discussion Sean was IMMEDIATELY dismissive. He told my father that the work was sound, made excuses for the mess that was left behind, and tried to brush aside the various damages that had occurred from the job. When my parents attempted to bring the issues, they had with the work to Sean's attention he responded with "It doesn't matter what I did you would've bitched about it anyway". At this point I advised my father to just leave the conversation and send this "Contractor" on his way. At that point the employee Sean told me to shut up and "not talk to his boss". I informed him that he was on my parent's property and I was allowed to speak candidly. This person then stepped onto the road and said "I'm not on the property anymore come say that to my face!" Never, in my life, have I been treated so aggressively and disrespectfully by a business. I expect that kind of behavior from the teenagers at the Ice Arena but I was taken aback to have that happen in my parents front lawn from a contractor. At the end of the day I am writing this to warn everyone that: A. This company will not stand by their work and will be combative if you confront them about your dissatisfaction. B. The owner of the company allows his employees to belittle and verbally assault his customers without consequence.

Let's just say we are in July and he still never bothered to show up. He kept telling us "be there tomorrow"....well after 27 times of empty promises (yes I counted my text messages). Went up on the roof to see the rest of the work....what a total abomination. Tar paper not even reaching the drip edge. The peak above our bedroom...no valley or anything (no wonder it leaks). And you can forget about them cleaning up. They think that eavestrough is their catch all. Oh, and a full tube of black silicone tucked away near the vent. I'm glad to see the materials "I" purchased went to good use. They are NOT roofers......the work is piss-poor, the clean up is non-existent. You can forget about an after the job Guarantee. He will promise the world....lies, lies, lies. They have a word for this, oh yes "crook". We hire contractors in hopes (with trust) that the job will be done completely and adequately. We place our trust in these people.....unfortunately, some are crooks and just don't give a damn. Sound familiar ?? I could have posted more pictures of the workmanship.....but sorry, I was just getting more and more frustrated as I went along, and getting depressed. His Motto is correct though "your house deserves the best protection from the top down".....but they are NOT the crew to deliver this promise. This needs to be removed from his Logo.

We hired Justin Kuhn in November 2023 to complete roof repairs on a small home. We signed a…read morecontract and provided $1,000 upfront for the job. Unfortunately, Justin Kuhn of Kuhn's Construction failed to start or complete the project as agreed upon. We contacted Mr. Kuhn multiple times via phone and email to discuss the unfinished work, but he is not responsive. Although we received a judgment in small claims court, I can't imagine we will get any of our money back. We hope this review helps others avoid the frustration and financial loss we experienced.

8/18/2024. Signed a contract with Justin to redo my entire roof in metal about a week after hiring…read morehim in October to fix a hole in my roof (October 2023). Initially he was very responsive, said he found my request on the Better Business Bureau website. Due to his responsiveness, I hired him to do the entire roof in blue metal. Not a single action has been taken since October 2023 on my roof. In the contract it says that I agree to pay up front for most of it (for materials, etc) and then the remainder after the job is completed. I signed a contract with him and as per contract I handed him a cashier's check for $4,700. It is now August 18, 2024 and after months of excuses "waiting on your metal" or "you're next" or "got held up by rain on this other job" he finally stopped responding to my text messages in total. The interesting thing is that he was the one that said my roof "wouldn't last the winter" (2023 Winter) and yet ... he didn't even put a tarp or a temporary barrier on it before the winter set in. Now we've had significant rainfall from two tropical storm/downgraded hurricanes and I sustained much water damage as a result of his neglect. My insurance company is waiting for him to finish, and wouldn't you know that he put "homeowner's responsibility to maintain homeowner insurance policy" in the contract. Fortunately, my insurance company has the evidence of contract and money paid to him. And so will the police, particularly if he has done this to numerous others (which he appears to have). He also put down "Homeowner's responsibility to get necessary permits" but refuses to give the information (his insurance company and policy number, etc) that is a requirement of securing said permits. Usually it is the contractor who secures the permits. He ALSO puts in there that neither party is permitted to hire a third party to do any of the work unless it's agreed upon in writing by BOTH parties .... yet he hasn't responded to any messages; begging, pleading, stern expectations being set ... none of it. I've been patient enough. So Justin ... I don't know if you're overloaded by your personal life or by all these jobs that pop up for you that may seem more interesting and fun to do, but I have paid you for a service. And at this point, you have just stolen the money I borrowed to be able to pay you do to the roof.

Avoid if you actually want the job done in a timely manner. Their prices are no better than a…read morereputable company, plus you will be lucky if they show up for 3 hours every few weeks. Many excuses and issues as to why a simple one week job takes months and months on end. Not very professional in my honest opinion and would never recommend them to anyone for any job, no matter the size. We are now in the process of filing a legal case and BBB complaint against them, as my elderly father made the mistake of paying them up front, after being told by William, that they needed money for materials. Beware....this company uses other names and numbers online. North Country Builders, North Country Roofing, & Coyote Builders. William Gray (or Grey) is the shitbird crook. Follow-up: We won the case in court last month, no repayments still. One last demand for restitution and then we will have to take the steps to have enforcement seize personal property, residential property liens filed, bank accounts frozen, report him to NY Business enforcement as required for noncompliance to the court's ruling...... As it is very unlikely he will do the right thing otherwise. Updates will follow.
