A piece of metal broke around the hinge. They needed to be welded. I had to get them fixed today. Thank goodness I went to Schmidt Optiek and they were able to repair them on the spot. Went in to ask a lot of questions about how getting glasses worked in the Netherlands, and found it to be quite simple. I made an appointment for me and my husband for us to get a free eye exam. Service couldn't be better. Really! Everything about pricing was explained to me on my first visit. Though we have Dutch insurance, we don't have vision. But with these prices, it wasn't concern! The eye exam was standard and the man giving it was super nice and was happy to explain everything...even the process. The hardest part is always picking out the glasses. But someone even helped us understand things we might want to look for based on our preferences. And he was super patient considering how long it took for us. Honestly, I'm happy to recommend this place to everyone!

Bad service. I…read morepurchased brand-name prescription glasses here for over $500 and was told at the time of sale that they included a warranty. Later when I called to use my warranty, the lady on the phone refused service and denied that the receptionist who sold me the glasses had offered any warranty. I got the run around when she then seemed like she would make good on the store's word. They instead sent me a bill and held my glasses without service until I paid. I demanded not to pay and got my spectacles back without repair/service/warranty. The shop looks very nice from the outside, but based on this experience I cannot recommend Occhiali Opticiens. Would steer clear if you expect them to guarantee any warranty or service. Won't be back.

This was our favorite place; the owner has a small, exquisitely curated selection and we each bought a pair. Cool things about the shop: 1. the frames are not divided into men's and women's. You are free to try them all out with no preconceived ideas, and choose a pair that looks great, that you love. 2. friendly animals work here as well as the owner. 3. the vibe is that rare combination of extremely cool and extremely friendly.

He is a charismatic larger-than-life character that I warmed to instantly. It's been a long time since I have been to an opticians and he had a computer that estimated the prescription before he manually check it and tweaked it which made the appointment relatively quick and allowed more focus time on the precise tweaking as needed. He recommended the glasses, I eventually bought, straight away! The ones he picked out for me to try were perfect and he said he chose them as the colour complimented my eyes and frame matched up with my eyebrow and face shape. He clearly is an expert in both eyewear style and fashion! They have a text service to let you know when the glasses are ready to pick up. I got lucky as my frames and lens were in stock so I got a text within an hour/hour and a half to say they were ready and picked them up the next day. Arnold also asked about my insurance and checked his list and made an extra copy of the receipt for me to claim back 50/100 euros on the cost. I highly recommend him and now wouldn't go anywhere else.

The range included the brand new Oakley prizm daily polarised in wood, Prada, Rayband, Ralph Lauren, Versace, to name a few. We went with the Oakleys. There is a 50% exchange policy with glasses within a year. They also sell a glass protection/cleaning kit for 10 euros with a washable cloth which can be refilled for free at their stores and used to clean all glasses, iphones and ipads etc.

My husband came here to get new glasses and to get a new lens for his current glasses that had…read morefallen out and broken. His exam was great. The British guy who helped him was very knowledgeable and measured his vision well and had expert knowledge on different lenses types and could identify the model of lens in his current glasses. Unfortunately that's where the good times ended. My husband couldn't get an immediate replacement for his broken lens because they don't grind lenses in house. Instead the shop put in an order for a new lens from their supplier off-site, and that took a couple of days, which was ok. Not great, but ok. That lens came in on time, and was put in his glasses just fine. The real problems started with the new glasses he ordered. They said his glasses would be in 13 days after ordering, but instead it took 23 days. Along the way there was no communication about the delay, so my husband showed up 17 days later at the store expecting to pick up his glasses, and instead they had no glasses and no explanation about where they were. Depending on who he talked to he got different stories, from 'they shipped, they can be here any day now,' to 'we got them in, but they weren't good enough so we sent them back. another replacement will be here soon' to 'I don't know, I have to get in touch with our supplier but they are not answering the phone.' So he got a bit of a run around, and ended up calling every few days because they always said the glasses would be there 'in a few days', and then again 'in a few days'. Now he has his glasses, and he liked how they adjusted them on his face. The frames still need a bit of getting used to because their selection isn't that wide so he ended up going with a different style than he's used to, but they're ok. In the end he got a store gift card for 16.90 euros after he picked up and paid for his glasses. For what, I am not sure. I don't know what you can get for that much money there. Maybe eyeglass wiping clothes? My experience of this place remains a mixed bag.
