I stumbled upon this tattoo shop because I was looking for a place to get my first tattoo and this place is super local to me. I talked with Charlie and he made my first tattoo experience so smooth and easy. I was nervous coming in initially but that quickly went away after how chill the vibe was inside. Rachel, the owner, was also there and they both were super nice and friendly which really made me feel at home and like I've known them for years. Definitely a hidden gem in North Park. Got my two tattoos from the artist at this parlor and both experiences have been 10/10. Couldn't have been more happy how they both turned out. Each artist was very professional, clean, and kind! The butterfly was tattooed by the artist Captain around August 2023 and it healed up nicely. He was very communicative and made sure that the size and placement was to my preference. I am so happy how that turned out. This was during his flash sale, amazing piece for a good deal. The bee was tattooed by the artist Charlze just yesterday. I sent him some reference photos of what I wanted and he executed it so well. Shout out to Ben Rounds, started following him and his work and absolutely enjoy all of his traditional work. He's super prompt at messaging back and even uses his Instagram story to post availability. He checks in while drawing something out to make sure you're cool with it too. During the tattoo appointments he's super chill and makes solid convo, it's never a dull moment in the shop which is a great atmosphere. OH I also didn't mention his awesome use of colors!! He really does add a lot of detail and shading to make everything perfect. And he will even check-in periodically to see how the finished product looks. After the first tattoo.. Recently visited Aces High to get my second tattoo from Ben Rounds. The shop owner Chris was awesome and keeps the place super clean with a great overall vintage tattoo vibe to it! Ben Rounds is always an awesome dude to get work from! The prices are very reasonable, and the work you get is phenomenal! My first tattoo from him several years ago barely needed any touch up! Got a tattoo on Friday the 13th. The tattoo isn't bad. It's a bit expensive for what it is ($100). Good artists. Nice art all over. The problem lies with the ethics. When we came in they said "you can take off your masks" and then the owner yelled from the back "this is America where we can breathe through our nose holes!" And the place was full with about 10 people (none wearing masks). Then half way through the tattoo I realize they didn't check our IDs or make us sign any consent form. I just picked from the sheet and went back. Then when it was time to pay we payed through Venmo and the owner didn't wait to make sure it went through. Now I like my tattoo, but for them, these r a lot of ethical problems that could get them in trouble. If I was 17 and this got infected I could easily sue. So be wary. read more

I've been going to Ben for almost 3 years now and I'm never disappointed by his work or his professionalism. I travel from Arizona to San Diego to get tattooed by Ben and it's always been totally worth it. Big, bold, beautiful, colorful tattoos for not a bad price either. My Hannya piece is not in a noticeable spot, but always the one piece to get the most compliments. I originally picked the peony from a huge flash sheet, but the one he did on me was not only drawn freehand, but it absolutely came out 10x better than I ever imagined it to be. Definitely my go-to for Japanese traditional. The vibes inside the shop are 10000/10 as well. Music choice in the shop is 10000/10. Ben and Chris together are super funny and super personable. I would give zero stars if possible. I have been getting tattoos for years and met tons of different artists and shops all over the US and I have never experienced what I did here. Me and my friend wanted a small tattoo and the assistant girl and Chris the owner treated us very badly and unprofessional. He made fun of what we got, made fun of a tattoo I did on myself and said it looked horrible. The girl laughed at our tattoo choice and made fun of our placement. I am so disgusted by the unprofessional in this shop and how the owner and the girl mopping the floors acted. I never leave reviews but this stuck with me enough to leave one. If you want to be made fun of, judged, criticized, and over all treated like garbage go to this shop.
