2 stars for the cleanliness in the store but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check expiration dates on EVERY single one of your items that you're buying! I was there this MDW for a weekend vacation and got orange juice that was on sale for 2 for $7. When I got back from my Airbnb, I noticed that both the bottles had an expiration date of 05/24/23... I bought it on MAY 28TH! I also bought duck eggs there and good thing those were not expired. I feel bad for the locals that have to shop here. Terrible bakery service after 8 years of using them for custom cakes, etc. In person and on the phone total incompetence. Emilia has the worst attitude. (2 years in a row, so fresh). And when our cake came out wrong, which they knew, staff was laughing and saying at least they gave us a discount on the price. Whatttt???? They took a picture of what we wanted on their iPad. if you can't do it, just say it. Again, cake decorator on vacation. Again! Our guests said it tasted good at least. Alright, this place isn't THAT bad like some other reviews make it out. Store is well stocked for the most part. Prices aren't the best compared to other places but if you live in the downtown Vernon area I find it's more convenient and less of a headache than ShopRite. Staff is friendly and helpful, store is clean. Checkout lines and self checkout tend to move quick also which is a plus. read more

This pharmacy is terrible. I had unequivocally one of the worst experiences of my life with the cashier, Michelle. I will predicate this by saying the rest of the staff is very friendly accommodating and awesome. Cashiers super pleasant. However, this woman attempted to price gouge me, and refused to honor a good RX coupon during COVID-19 which is really disgusting. She makes a point to be rude to me everytime I come- so at least she is consistent there. If you were a member of this pharmacy please be careful and check your receipt. I will be going back to CVS. This place needs to close down and allow for a new business to open with new employees that at minimum don't want people to get sick from their expired / rotten food. This has been the fifth time I've gone in and meat was all past the expiration date and still on the shelf. Sausage was "Use By January 3, 2023" and today is the 14th! You walk in the store and you're overwhelmed with the smell of fish from the fish department and nearly every deli meat you get won't last 48 hours at maximum without developing a slime on it. This store is a huge health violation and you're literally rolling the dice on overpriced food that will assuredly get you sick because it's always expired. There's no reason to be stuck with a business that can't at minimum rotate and check their stock at least WEEKLY, and allow food that expired 7 days ago stay on the shelves. read more

Acme in Vernon blows! I went there today looking for a few things, for instance pasta. There are about 10 different brands, but only 5 or 6 of the varieties. Food here is expired half of the time. They can never seem to keep their water in stock (the water used for home water coolers) and the machine that would normally print receipts for bottle exchanges is constantly broken. The will then inconvenience their customers by telling them to bring their empty containers home and wait until they get stock so they can bring them back for the proper exchange rate. This place is an absolute joke and the only reason anybody shops here is due to it's location. read more

We go here when we need an item or two last minute or else we take the drive to shoprite in warwick. Today we went and asked a woman walking around with an acme shirt a question, she quickly told us she was off the clock. Don't know about her, but I work in the service industry and actually take pride in what I do. Even if I were off the clock I would be helpful to my clients or customers. She directed us to someone that could help, we asked our question and he basically responded with a condensing answer. Interactions like this can put a damper on your mood. Especially because we had such a good day then awhile after we're put off by the feeling of this interaction. It's not like either of them were having a bad day because as we walked off (and made to feel stupid for even asking the question) they both had a nice chuckle. Thanksgiving charcuterie board was a delight - excellent choice of meats, cheeses plus extra surprises of peppers, olives, veggies - no crackers but I found my favorites right in the deli department. All the digital coupons, "Just4U" offers based on what you purchase, and sale items in the weekly flyer still make it worth it to shop here occasionally. Make an account and check the app for deals as there can be some good stuff there! Otherwise, the prices here tend to be quite high for items that aren't on sale. ShopRite and even Price Chopper over the border in Warwick NY are a better value. Produce can be really hit or miss depending on when they last restocked. Sometimes there's a decent selection of fresh produce, while other times some of the shelves look old and half empty. Seafood and meat departments are usually decently stocked. Cold cuts are decent, fried chicken is surprisingly good. Pharmacy staff always seem nice and helpful. Self-checkout was added a couple years ago which is nice. There's also a Starbucks inside on the right side when you walk in. read more

Awful! Can't even put into words how poorly managed this place is. The employees take no pride in their job. Most of them are outside smoking cigarettes all day. They are always out of everything. It got better for awhile after Acme took over, but now it's back to the same bad store! Only WORSE!!!!! Rudest employees ever! They never have anything in Stock for weeks on end. Produce is old. Acme is your average super market. It's not great, but the other reviews have really baffled me. If you live in Vernon and hate this acme, I'd recommend driving to the Shoprite in Warwick. For me, this place has accommodated most of my grocery needs (at a high cost.) The deli isn't great but the staff I've encountered has always been kind. My father and I went to acme near closing to look for wrapping paper a few days before Christmas and a women helped us out with sincerity (not sure what her name is). To be frank, Acme definitely isn't my first choice super market but I've had a better experience than most of the people in these reviews. It gets the job done. read more

This ACME opened up as the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company ... my old favorite: A&P... shut its doors forever. Now, A&P had been in a fairly steady decline these last few years. The Vernon location was no exception. But the produce was always fresh and there was always a pretty good variety of things like fresh herbs, Asian vegetables, and a decent bakery and seafood section. ACME is less appealing to me. The prices are MUCH higher (yes, higher than A&P-- and A&P wasn't cheap!) and they try to bait you with big come-ons like: "$2.99/LB WITH In-circular coupon" NOT the circular you got at the front door-- the one you have to PAY for with a newspaper. A&P (and most of the big chains like Shop Rite, Stop N Shop, etc) all have a "Bonus Card" that you swipe as you check out. NOT ACME. I just think it's shitty. If I'm a loyal enough customer to apply for a bonus card, you know, then I get all the in-store specials, right? Wrong. I had been hoping that Stop N Shop would take over the Vernon A&P--- que sera sera. After 4 or 5 really bad shopping expeditions at ACME, I now shop ANYWHERE else. Shop Rite in Franklin or Warwick, or Stop and Shop in Kinnelon on the way home from work. Its not nearly as convenient as the Vernon location, but I get what I went shopping for and don't break the bank doing it. read more

Highly disappointed at this Supermarket that would allow another cashier to Harass my daughter who is 9 months Pregnant and was shopping in your store with her 1 year old daughter. Who had a mask on that slipped below her nose because with the heat of the summer and being 9 months pregnant she was having difficulty breathing and needed extra air to continue walking to finish getting what she needed in the market for her family. Nobody came to help her or put a stop to this other cashier screaming at my daughter and harassing her in front of her 1 year old daughter which made my granddaughter scream out of fear of how this women was screaming at her mother to raise up her mask above her nose !! I get it everyone is fearful right now ! That is your Prerogative to fear and worry but you DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO BULLY OR HARRAS ANYONE who does not meet your standards of masks. Shame on management and security at #acme for just letting it happen. This lady is lucky she didn't cause any harm to my daughter pregnancy or my unborn grandson from how she stressed out my daughter and granddaughter!! If I was with my daughter I would have called the cops and had a complaint on this woman. People seriously need to get a grip on reality!! I only shop here because I live in Vernon and it's the only market in town, but it's gotten worse over time. It's the worst food market in the area, by far and almost always overpriced for everything. I had hoped that Acme would clean the store up and turn it into a nice shopping experience, but that hasn't happened. The store is a mess, with broken cold cases, inadequate signage, dirty floors, poor stock, empty shelves, rotten produce that's overpriced, employees outside smoking at almost all times, and more. During the height of the COVID crisis, they were constantly out of paper towels, toilet paper and napkins. As late as early July, they still didn't have paper towels, when every other Acme and every other market in the area had them. I called Acme corporate customer service twice before they had paper towels in stock. Obviously, Acme doesn't think much of this store, or management is simply too timid to ask corporate for the things they lack. I really wish another market would open in Vernon and finally put this store out of business. read more

It's hard to believe this place is still in business. The produce is either under stocked, rotting, or both. The meats are cut horribly with fat and gristle hidden behind labels. Many items are past their due date - bacon, yogurt and milk last time I was there. Also, they don't stock regular ever day items that folks usually buy - no Perdue chicken because no one buys it? This is what I was told. Items on shelves are always dented or damaged.....why? This place is awful. Picked up shucked corn in a package - got it home - was slimy!!!! Deli people were rude when I called in order. No good selections in produce. We are a ski resort /waterpark/ golf town - so I think that accounts for the over pricing as tourists come here for groceries - meats are good but really - quite disgusted. I called and asked if they had Enfamil Infant in stock I even described it as the yellow can 12.5oz powder so they wouldn't say they had it if it wasn't the correct one. The manager said they had it and I asked him to put 4 aside for me and he replied that he had plenty in stock. So a 25 minute drive later and they didn't have the formula. When brought to his attention that they don't have it and I wasted my time coming here because he can't do his job right the dickhead managers response was "we have plenty of Enfamil formula." Well dumbass there's a reason I described the one I needed on the phone because even though you have a lot of Enfamil you don't have the one I need. Also the cashier was slow as balls and was the only cashier working. And the lady opening the formula case was a bitch when I told her what formula I needed. I walked up to the seafood department asking what do they have in stock being that they had nothing put out on display yet. The man behind the counter responded with an attitude like I was an inconvenience to his day. The mussels I got where terrible. Half of them where dead which I should have thrown them all out in being that it was obvious they where old or just not healthy. So I cooked them anyway and the produced a disgusting odor followed by a terrible taste in which I threw them out after only eating one. The salmon I purchased had unusual fat in between each layer which is unheard of for salmon. The staff really just doesn't care and takes no pride in their jobs. The chicken cuts are of the cheapest quality when they charge some of the highest prices. Standing in my checkout lane took forever in that they only had two registers open. The women was having a full blown conversation when there where 4 people with full carts waiting. My wife had said excuse me there is a line and she was replied with more attitude and eye rolling again making us feel like we where an inconvenience. They must pay these people next to nothing which reflects in the type of people working there and complete unprofessionalism. read more

1. When it's on sale, their cooked shrimp is pretty good. That's it for the good news. 2. Then take their Scotties tissues. One week they're 88 cents and the next week they are more than double that. 3. Almost everything in the store is overpriced. 4. My favorite ice cream is Friendly's pistachio. I filled out all the Acme paperwork for them to start stocking it. Here we are over a year later and they say they can't get it. Maybe because it's green and anything in the store that's green is in the process of going bad? 5. Be very careful in their meat department. They usually stock Kingsford pulled pork and pulled chicken, which are both delicious and it's the only store nearby that I know carries it. When it's on sales I will buy several of them. Problem, I was there on Friday the 13th and the pulled chicken, all 4 or 6 boxes of it, had an expiration date of a week before: July 6, 2018. I grabbed a lady who looked like a manager and brought it to her attention. I don't know if anything was done about it. IMPORTANT: Save your register receipts.
