These guys have a full service shop, an entire design room with THOUSANDS of fabric samples and a top notch sales staff. I recently bought down feathers, down ticking fabric and foam for an antique Camelback sofa I was reupholstering. They even carried my stash of goodies to my car! Great selections, very knowledgeable and patient staff, centrally located. Would highly recommend! read more

This place is the holy grail of upholstery supplies. (Ok, at least for Denver.) These guys have everything from the tools you're going to need, to pre-stitched welting in a rainbow of colors, vinyl, discount commercial grade fabric, foam, and even the sparkly vinyl for diner seats. They don't do any upholstering in-house, but most of the counter guys have been doing it for years. I talked to a guy named Vince, who not only gave me a great run down of what they do, but cut samples and offered advice. Keep in mind, it's a warehouse. I wouldn't suggest wandering in after work in your heels and silky shirt. (That, and you're going to get eyed by the guys shooting the breeze and picking out vinyl for their boat seats.) Also, it's a Wholesale warehouse. They seem pretty flexible on whether or not you need a tax ID to actually shop there (because they seem to get plenty of industry business), and their prices are roughly half of retail. So forget the 9th circle of hell that is jo-ann's, and get on down to western upholstery. read more

What a find this was. Thank you, Yelp! I just started my first upholstery project and was struggling through the "sales" prices for supplies at certain chain craft stores in town. No more I tell you! this place is a dream for anyone that wants to do some DIY furniture reupholstering. I think they are a wholesaler, but they were happy to work with me. I bought some kitchen chairs off craigslist and they needed a new foam cushion. since Jo-Ann fabrics has a depressingly limited selection of upholstering necessities like foam, I was looking for where the pros shop. western was PERFECT. it was busy, so we had to wait 5 minutes for someone to help us, but they had a lot of foam from which to choose. we didn't buy our fabric there, but they had TONS. and they also have all the fixings for upholstering. it's one of those type of places that if they don't have it, either it doesn't exist or you probably don't need it. read more

I have been a customer of Marks for over 30 years, even when he was with Acme when it was downtown and he bought it and started his own business. His employees are exceptional and are very helpful in filling my order from just a spool of thread to several yards of material and foam. They even will cut my foam to the size I need. Since I have moved out of state and restarting my upholstery business I will be ordering from them still and they will ship it to me. Thank you Mark and gang, stay safe. read more

I was mislead by Nicole P.'s review of this being a place where people are "happy to work with" you if you're not in wholesale. No. They definitely are not. In no uncertain terms. Even though the policy they have taped to the counter does not say a thing about not selling retail. They certainly do not. If you don't already have a decorator license, they won't even answer questions. ETA: the email on their website does not work. read more

I was back again for the second time and right away I was greeted by same friendly staff as before, the store has a larger selection of fabrics, supplies and better prices than the competition. Acme Western not only has a huge selection of upholstery and foam but a VERY knowledgable staff! We live in Steamboat and while in Denver we came in looking for replacement foam and material to cover the cushions in our vintage trailer, not really knowing what all we needed. We were taking a stab at it knowing the cost would be much less than in Steamboat. We were so thankful for Vinnie (as we came to know him) and his no pressure attitude, valuable knowledge of the materials and how they would or would not work for our needs. By the end we had everything we needed to complete our project! He steered us in the right direction and away from unknown costly mistakes and wrong materials, sent us with his card and said to call with anything else we need! A few things to note after reading the bad reviews: try not to go in there 20 minutes before closing, the place is huge and you are definetly going to keep them late if you do. You will catch more flies with honey, they know their stuff so take it or leave it but don't expect it on a silver platter, this is a warehouse folks one that I will visit for any upholstery/padding/DIY needs! read more
