It's an art deco style stadium that was built in 1938 and opened in 1940. It can seat 40,199 futebol fans. Who plays here? Big 4 football clubs of São Paulo: Corinthians, Palmeiras and São Paulo...and Santos (not from São Paulo). Corinthians (working class) and Palmeiras (Italian immigrants) have the oldest, biggest and most intense rivalry in Brazilian futebol. The World Cup held a few matches at Pacaembu in 1950.
