    Italian grinder
    Julie D.

Acropolis is a popular spot. We were able to walk in on a Friday evening and get seated right away. It was somewhat loud inside due to the restaurant being full. We ordered a traditional gyro and the Italian grinder sandwich. The gyro had meat, sauce and sliced tomatoes. I was not super impressed with it. It looked like there was half of the meat that should have been on the sandwich, the meat was somewhat dry and lackluster. Same opinion about the grinder. I feel like the quality has declined over the years here. This would not be my first choice for a gyro or sandwich.

    Stavi and 2 amazing grinders!

We stopped in to the family restaurant for some grinders and wow these are good! The food is hands down amazing. The service is great too. We met one of the family members we've never met before Stavi. Thank you. The restaurant has updates but is just the same as it has been for 20 years. Amazing. "Yes, you should put the pineapple on your Canadian bacon grinder with extra mayonnaise. "

    Oh yes! That's the post.

Returning to the Kirkland area after having been away for over a decade, our son insisted on heading over to Acropolis pizza - his fond memories of their food have been his gold standard for pizza (notwithstanding one establishment in the San Francisco area, but I digress...) We didn't have too much time to spend for a lunch - so we place an order to go while driving around the region. We kept it simple - a small pizza with sausage, cheese, green peppers as Kalamata olives. Extra crispy. We arrived and the store was exactly as he remembered. Indeed, it *smelled* exactly as he remembered - with the scents of deliciousness wafting from the inside as soon as we opened the door. Despite ordered to go - we made the game time decision to sit down and truly savior the pizza. Hot. Fresh. Crispy. It was EXACTLY as he remembered. Childhood memories revisited. A perfect lunch. Now, to try the grinders next time.....

"ma tov" (mama mia) what a great sandwich!. Mom and Pop, old school restaurant. Great staff! A little dated but still a great atmosphere. This quickly became a fave-crave stop for me. I can't go every day if I want to be able to fit in the door.

    Oven Baked Spaghetti

**Oven Baked Spaghetti (meatballs added)** The entree arrives hot out of the oven, with the ceramic dish bubbling with fat and sauce. The highlight is definitely the cheesy crust over the top, which tasted good. However, the meatballs were nothing special--just balled-up ground meat with light seasoning that you can barely taste. The spaghetti portion of the dish was reminiscent of Chef Boyardee, which was okay, I guess. However, the Oven Baked Spaghetti gave off an interesting smell that I wasn't sure how I felt about. So, the million-dollar question: would I take this home and finish it? Probably not. It wasn't spectacular like pasta dishes you'd find in Italian joints down in Florida or on the East Coast, for that matter. Overall, it was just okay.

How I heard of this place: After a visit to the Kirkland Waterfront, the family was interested in a pizza dinner. This place had great reviews online, so we made a quick decision to give it a go! Type of cuisine: Pizza, pasta, sandwiches and salads with Mediterranean flavor. Ambiance: Interiors looked to be out of the 1980s, with faux leather booths, and waxy tables, "fancy" lighting in 80s-esque chandeliers and spacious dining area. A random assortment of souvenirs from Greece were interspersed throughout as decoration. A stand-alone building, with parking makes for easy access. What I ordered: We selected the Gyro Salad ($16.95) of mixed lamb & beef strips over lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, feta, cucumbers tossed in a house-made Greek dressing, served with a side of tzaziki & pita bread. For dinner, we chose the Vegetarian 10" pizza ($23) with onions, green peppers, black olives, fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese and tomato sauce, as well as a 10" Build Your Own ($13) with onion and pepperoni ($2 each additional topping). What I loved: We loved that the cheese topped the toppings in a thick layer, and the kids truly enjoyed the pita & tzaziki appetizer, while we downed the fresh, crisp salad. Why I loved it: The staff were so friendly and patient, accommodating and kind. The space is easy and comfortable and the food tasty. Cost: High

A great place with friendly atmosphere to have dinner. The pizzas are loaded and very tasty and the grinders are very good as well. Good prices and good amount of food. We enjoyed our time here.

This restaurant has been well received for both business dinners and personal dinners. They are old school charming Italian (not to be confused with American Italian). The service is often warm and charming. The restaurant is painted with warm tones and artworks of villas. Business partners from foreign countries often find this restaurant adorable. The menu has some hits-and-misses, but we have settled on our favorites by now. My hubby orders their lasagna as his favorite; he often orders it early since it's a longer time to cook. I recently visited with girlfriends, so extra desserts are involved. Lol. The Food: Salmone Piccata, $32 - 4.5 Stars Menu: Fresh salmon filet, capers, lemon, garlic, white wine sauce This is my standing order - a good size piece of salmon rests on veggies with a wonderful wine sauce. It's light, it's a repeatable dish, and I don't feel guilty afterwards. Tartufo Classico - 4.5 Stars Menu: Chocolate Gelato, zabaglione cream center, covered with crushed caramelized hazelnuts and cocoa powder Tiramisu - 4 Stars Menu: Ladyfinger biscuits, espresso coffee, mascarpone cheese, and whipped cream Curse my sweet tooth friend who convinced us to order not one but two desserts to share. The tartufo is more unique, and somewhat reminds me of a much better Ferrero Rocher. I particularly like the cool gelato. The tiramisu is of course the classic. If I am sharing with hubby, the tartufo is the easy win.

My wife had never been here, and for me it had been over 10 years, so we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be disappointing. On the positive side, the bread was good, the burrata appetizer was tasty, and my Marsala chicken wasn't too bad. However, my wife's Linguine Tutta Mare was not good at all. The mussels tasted completely off and had a bad smell. I tried them myself and they were fishy, not how mussels are supposed to taste. We told our waiter, and he kind of brushed it off, saying they get their seafood in daily and that mussels can sometimes be "that way." He gave no apology and no real acknowledgment to the issue, but just cleared our plates and walked away. To top it all off, they were out of the Panna Cotta, which was the dessert I'd been looking forward to. The other options didn't appeal to us as much, but we settled for them anyway. Afterwards, we still felt a little hungry. For our first lunch date in a while, this was a real letdown. Definitely not worth $35 per person.

Even with a reservation, we did have to wait a bit, but it was Valentine's Day, so totally understandable given how busy Italian spots get. Parking was pretty convenient with spaces both in front and behind the restaurant, and if those are full, it's close to the Totem Lake area so there are other options nearby. The ambiance was definitely unique--lots of mannequins, motorcycles, and a sort of roadshow vibe. It felt fun, a little quirky, and different from your typical Italian restaurant. Service was good overall, especially considering how busy it was. Our server was attentive enough and kept things moving smoothly. We started with bread and butter--nothing particularly special, but still enjoyable. The garlic herb compound butter oddly felt nostalgic and reminded me of childhood. For appetizers, we got the meatballs, which were hearty and flavorful. For my entrée, I had the seafood pasta in a wine cream sauce and really enjoyed it. There was a good amount of seafood--not super crab-heavy, but enough to get a few nice bites--and the sauce itself was light and well-balanced. My husband ordered the chicken parm, which he said was good but leaned a bit on the bland side. Overall, it feels like a solid neighborhood Italian spot. Definitely a place we'd come back to when we're in the area.

A simple concept that seems to work, and seems to attract a lot of customers. We were a party of 4 and we each picked our own pasta meal. For starters, we shared the burrata salad. It had fresh basil, pesto, fine nuts, and of course, the creamy burrata on top of fresh mixed greens. The flavors were just jiving together and I wish I could have it every day. For my main, I had the short rib ragu with fettuccine. The sauce was deep in flavor. The short rib ragu paired well with the al dente fettuccine. Each pasta is served with a garlic focaccia bread. The restaurant's ambiance is casual and yet the food being served up in the kitchen is elevated for a fast casual establishment.
