A technician came out and analyzed the issue with my washing machine, which I already knew was the issue. I had watched videos on YouTube, had my manual and gone through the steps to figure out the problem, so I did appreciate the correct diagnosis. After that it was downhill. He proceeded to lie about the cost of the part. He proceeds to tell me the part is over $100. It's not. On Amazon it's $17. He then tells me to place the part would cost $400. The washing machine cost $475. It's a GE top load. Why would you pay just as much to fix it as a new one would cost. When questioned about both, he had no response. It made me feel as though he saw a woman and was going to take advantage of the situation. If you are a woman, proceed with caution or do your research prior to calling them. I wasted $150. I bought the part for $17 and a friend installed it. My machine works fine. read more

My Samsung fridge was cold and totally quiet. Action Appliance said they could send someone expert in my particular brand named Brian for a miniumum $139 [plus tax] just for checking (even if he did nothing else). Brian came by 4 hours later. He took a few continuity and voltage readings and told me it was a 50% chance it was the controller board and 50% chance it was the compressor, and that a controller board would cost $700 to $800. I told him I would rather just buy a new refrigerator. He collected his fee and left. I proceeded to order a new controller board that I found online for $89 plus tax and shipping, assuming I could install it myself. I have not received the controller board, so I don't know whether my foray into refrigerator repair has been a total boondoggle or not. I will buy a new fridge if I have to. read more

Two part review. Fresh food was keeping low enough temperature and mold showing up. Checked the internet and mfg website but no solution so Action was called this morning and got afternoon appointment. Better yet tech (Brian) finished early as was able to come this morning. Quick diagnostic check determined cooling fan in fresh food compartment not pushing enough cold air. Time to replace it along with the cover for compartment that had mold. Parts were available for this GE French Door model so Action will be back in morning to replace fan and insulation cover. Right away the temp got colder and by evening A-OK. See photos. Part 2. Tech returned on time and commenced to work. Much faster this time as he did not have defrost the compartment and familiar with this model. He took out the bad cooling fan and showed how it had gone bad. Also pickup the old insulation panel and it was noticeably heavier with the water that did not evaporate due to run down cooling fan. Over the last 15+ years, I have used Action Appliance several times. I have never been disappointed. The technicians have consistently been beyond professional in every way. Today, I had work done on my clothes dryer that I purchased in 2019. The service tech, Jimmy C., was excellent and very patient with my questions. He taught me several things about the dryer that I was so happy to learn. He was efficient and very reasonable with the service call fee. Tried Action Appliance repair and they committed to $112 diag fee. I stead, they charged $195 for "minimum labor", and spent 2 trips, to tell me it was not worth fixing, because one part had failed. They struggled to diagnose that the gas valve had failed. It was not appliance diags and repair. It was swap parts until something worked. The repair was going to be $405 for the $8-$12 part replacements, or $600 for the $178 part replacement. Very disappointed when a rebuild kit for the failed part is $30, and they should have been able to diagnose in less than 1 hour, in one trip. But, they were very polite. read more

I have had an issue with my fridge's ice maker that has had ongoing problems for months. I had mistakenly assumed from all the good reviews I had found a trusted partner for repairs. Well, now have had them out three times for the one repair. When it stopped working again, a fourth and last visit today they decided to charge a trip fee today for the additional check on it after it stopped working again. This is despite the same service tech coming each time and insisting each time it was repaired and walked away only to have it fail again. Given the amount of service trips required thus far for an ice maker repair, I felt it worth paying the $75 trip fee they insisted on being paid one last time to not have to do business with them again. The fact the service tech had to get approval from his boss to charge me for the service visit was telling. This is despite the service tech asking me on his third visit the week prior to let him catalog the incident without notes so he wouldn't get in trouble for not finishing his job on the second visit. I'm not seeking restitution for this, I paid to make him go away, I would advise you avoid them too. read more

We live in a tiny apartment, but own our washer/dryer. This was the 3rd company we had called to repair our dryer over the last 15 years. The last two companies got the job done and were friendly and priced exactly the same as Action, but this team of professionals brought that little extra, above and beyond commitment to total excellence you rarely see. First, they were RIGHT on time. Gave us a window of 10am-1pm but showed up at 10am on the dot. Next, it was raining outside. I hadn't even thought about that, but Jimmy and Skyler were immediately putting on clean booties over their shoes so as not to track mud in before they even stepped in the door! Then, not only did Jimmy and Skyler repair our dryer and get it back into place beautifully, they explained what our apartment maintenance had done wrong that likely caused the element to burn out (leaving the ENTIRE vent hose all curled around behind the machine instead of cutting it), but they fixed that problem and THEN told us what we needed to ask our apartment managers to do to help prevent additional problems. They also checked our washer for us and told us what needed to be done with the problem we were having with that. They were even happy to speak to my apartment manager directly so as to explain the details, and we got the work order put in. Their repairs come with a 90-day warranty too. Nice! Finally--and this was like the crazy, never-before-seen by any repair service cherry-on-top for us!--they vacuumed up everything around, on, and under our machines, vacuumed up the floor, and then sprayed down and wiped off every surface of BOTH of our machines with a nice smelling Meyer's brand all-purpose cleaner. When they left, everything was BETTER. Way better. Better than it was in every way before they showed up. Wow. We are just an ordinary, broke working class married couple cramped into a tiny apartment... but they spoke and worked with us like they were doing a job for the King & Queen of England, lol. Jimmy and Skyler were both proud, experienced tradesmen with a family history in the appliance repair trade, and we need a million more like them! If these were my sons I would be mighty proud of them both. Their parents should write a book on how to raise smart, tough, professional, civilized and capable men, lol. Well done to the Action Appliance Repair team. I joked with Jimmy I was almost looking forward to the next time some appliance broke, lol. Not really, BUT... when that happens, there ain't nobody else we'll call now. It was just an OK experience. Certainly not the best, but not the worst Appliance Repair service but I doubt that I will ever call them again. it took multiple visits to get the repair done and when I expressed concerns about the cooktop that we have and was wanting to replace that was just blown off. Our refrigerator died on Friday night. I was pretty sure that we would do without for several days. I called Action Appliance Repair on Saturday morning, thinking I would not see anybody until Monday. To my surprise they were able to send John out about 10:00am. It only took him a few minutes to diagnose the problem. He had to leave and go to the parts house for a new printed circuit board. When he got back he found that they had given him the wrong board. I'm not sure how John worked his magic, but even with the parts houses closed he still found the correct part and got us going. I've used these guys twice and both times they were stellar. I had two different techs but both were friendly, on-time and professional. Also, both quickly diagnosed the problems and then gave me two choices: they told me how I could fix it myself and they'd just charge me the fee for the visit or they could fix it and they gave me the pricing for that. Both times I chose to fix it myself with their input and both times that solved my problems - one was for a washing machine and one was for a water dispenser on a refrigerator. We had a service person come to our home to estimate the repair of a Thermador range. His comments were very confusing. He said we'd receive a bid but it might or might not fix the problem! We then received a huge bid, which included $500 of shipping for 4 small parts - the parts that might or might fix the problem! We called to discuss the bid. The person was not able to answer our questions and said we would get a call back from somebody else. We have never received a callback and yet keep getting emails checking in to see if we will be using their services. I think not. I have arthritis so small jobs requiring finger dexterity are very difficult for me. our ice maker broke so we paid the service fee and had them come out even though we already knew exactly what the problem was. The new ice maker was marked up a little over what I could have purchased one for, but only by about $25.00. The shocker came when the repair technician explained the labor was now $295.00 per hour. Buyer beware! We will no longer be using this company and next time I know to ask about labor rates before scheduling. When I explained my disappointment the tech said "are you feeling some kind of way, because I can stop.". I told him to continue because we had already paid him half the cost, but that this would be the last time we use them due to the labor charge. This review is overdue - for a good reason. My father passed away just after my repair. I cannot speak more highly of Action Appliance - Jimmy was punctual, thorough, educated me and in the end, I paid nothing... Please understand, that I live in an apartment, a building that is about a year old. I had explained to Jimmy that since I had moved, my dryer was slow to dry and that the lint catcher was completely free of lint since moving in. I had thought that, since the dryer is about seven years old, maybe it was time to replace it or that perhaps during the move, something had been damaged. Jimmy took the time to diagnose each of the three temperature settings and discovered each was heating properly. Then, he used a camera to discover the massive clog in the exhaust pipe. When we looked at the vent flap outside, it wasn't opening. So, I paid for the diagnosis and contacted the leasing office. When they came, I was told the vent flap was PAINTED SHUT... It was fixed, and the lint was removed. And, the complex refunded me the cost of the diagnosis, since it was their fault, not to mention a fire hazard. Jimmy was so nice - he reminded me of my son. LG fridge putzed out after 2.5 years. Called AAR and was told LG would cover the repair under warranty (even though the normal warranty is 1 year parts/labor) b/c LG is aware of a defect in the compressor/sealed system. So AAR recommended I call LG instead rather than him coming out and charging me a service call fee to tell me the same thing. Sure enough, I called LG (800-243-0000) and they said they would cover the repair/parts due to a compressor/sealed system problem. Super appreciate AAR's honesty and knowledge. read more
