Justin came out and did a fantastic job. It was difficult for him to access under the kitchen sink, but he managed to do it twice since his first snaking did not completely clear the line. He said it was a challenge and I was impressed with his persistence. I can tell he takes pride in his work. Before I contacted Action Drain, I called Gold Seal because they offered a promotional drain clearing for $89. This was a few days before for the same problem. The guy said it was clear, but right after he left it backed up immediately which was worse than before he started. The sink would at least drain. In addition, when he reassembled the drain pipes, he screwed one connector on crooked so it leaked! I called to ask if they would return without charge since he made it worse. They said no. The service manager was supposed to call me but did not. Definitely a second rate company. I went with Action Drain based on Yelp reviews. I definitely recommend them. read more

I requested help from action drain and plumbing with a leak in my piping in the yard. I called around 1:30 pm on sep 11th and by the next morning someone was on site to do an estimate. The estimate took hours. I received a written estimate 24 hrs after my call and was told that for $2972.75 they could get me on their schedule. Frustrated at their timeframe and shocked at their price for digging a hole, I contacted an independent guy from Affordable Plumbing who (working on a Saturday) arrived within 3 hours and completed my job in about 4 hours. Total price was under $1000. Bottom line, Action should change their name to Inaction. I wish them all the best in life but they need to rethink pricing and work ethic. In the meantime, i recommend finding someone more motivated and reasonable. read more

These guys saved my butt the day before Thanksgiving last year. We have an old house and the plumbing is funky. The sinks all started backing up and nothing was helping. They came right out and nothing was working for them either. The main was being difficult and they had to get up on the roof and go down from there. They eventually found a huge clog cleared it. There was no way, we would have ever gotten that. They didn't charge overtime, they didn't charge for backup when they had a third guy come and they didn't charge extra for going up on the roof in the dark. I have a shared sewer line. This was common practice but is now considered against code. The neighbor (landlord) has been using them to clean out the line for her renters. They did the basics. It appears that at one point they damaged the back flow valve on my side. They don't call me or make an effort to understand what has been done. They use my property to access the neighbor, which has street front access. The last visit they left their gloves behind and didn't clean up. Will they do the job...yes. Will it be the basics...yes. I called and talked to a nice lady that set me up for a plumber visit the following morning. After my window came and went with no plumber I called to find out what was going on. They told me the plumber was having car trouble. I asked if that meant he couldn't call and let me know? They told me, "We told him to call his customers." I called Action to unclog a patio drain. After attempting to clear it twice and then video scoping it twice, Action indicated the pipes were collapsed because of the original construction and had clogged over time with sediment and concrete slurry. They showed this to me on the video screen so that I was confident in the pipe routing, the broken areas, and their assessment of the situation. They replaced the existing pipes, added a new drain, added a new clean-out, linked in my sump pump pipe, and worked to properly slope and match the existing exposed aggregate concrete. I've been using Action Drain for 10 years to service my floor drain when it's clogged. This week my kitchen sink backed up and I called another company, The Drain Specialists, to fix it. A few hours later, it was apparent they had managed to move the "clog" further down the line which blocked the floor drain! I live pretty far out in the woods and needed someone to come and clear out a 4" drain line to my septic tank. I had worked on it for a couple days, and really thought it was root bound, and it was going to cost several $100. Jason came out and augered the entire line for a very reasonable price. Updated: Thought my initial experience was not good. The company did everything imaginable to make things right. Going above and beyond to show the actions of one is not a reflection of how this company operates. Tracy was kind, validating my frustration and reassuring this will never happen again. I truly feel this was an isolated incident and would recomend this company to any who need drain and plumbing needs in the future! We have used Action Drain twice before when we had drain issues and had wonderful experiences both times. So naturally I didn't think twice about calling to have them run a water line to our new fridge. However the technician who came out to do this service was absolutely horrible. Firstly, I was not instructed to have my fridge moved away from the wall before he arrived so I was forced to move my fridge out by myself while he watched me. This resulted in me tearing my linoleum flooring in the kitchen. He was unprepared to perform the work and had to go to Ace for parts, when he did return half of what he had bought didn't work for the installation. Still not having all the things he needed to install the pex piping cleanly at a 90° angle so that the shut off value set plum. Which is a problem in and of itself because we still won't be able access the shutoff easily in the case of an emergency because it is on the floor behind the fridge. The kitchen is right over the only unfinished part in the basement that will remain unfinished and the valve could have been installed to where we could access it from the basement. Then while he was cleaning up he decided to make a horribly ignorant comment about my child which put me in full defense mode and continued to say inaccurate and hurtful things to where I finally had to stop him because I was livid at that point. Then to finish out what was the worst experiences I've had with any worker doing services on our house he comes back in after calculating how much I owed him ( which was extremely vague and didn't have a breakdown at all of cost of parts or how many hours and the cost per hour. ) and walked over the one white rug I have in the living room. I understand the need to wear work boots but there was no need to walk intentionally on my rug, over my kids toys, and then sit on my couch in his work clothes. I would still recommend Action drain for any drain issues but would strongly discourage using them for plumbing projects around the house or service calls. In total we were billed $662 that did not include a detailed breakdown for adding a T to a water line and running 2 feet of pex that comes out of our floor at an angle. read more

I had a plumber out to replace a broken shutoff valve. He didn't actually do the work, but instead suggested how I could do it myself. This was unexpected and refreshing. He basically just leveled with me and said it would cost $350+ for him to do it or I could take it on myself for a fraction of the cost. He gave me some general pointers and suggested a brand of connector that is very consumer friendly. I ended up doing it myself for $80 with $30 of that in new tools. It took a bit of research but the actual repair only took 20 minutes. I'm so glad I went this route. Without his honest encouragement I wouldn't have had the confidence to venture a repair. When something major comes up I'd give them a call without hesitation. read more

So when you have poo coming out of your basement floor drain the $160/hr weekend rate is well worth the cost. These things always seem to happen on the weekend so we were stuck with the higher cost. The nice thing was that Justin (drain expert) got the blockage out of the drain with a smaller bit that got us back into working condition. He could have gone ahead and moved to the larger bit to fully clean out the drain but in order to save us some money said to call them back out on Monday. This way we'd be ok through the weekend and then pay normal rates ($95/hr). Justin came back out Monday and finished off the drain clean with a 3 1/2 inch bit. Because this was a 'continuation' of work we were not charged any minimum on the return visit. Justin was friendly, cared about making sure he didn't leave a mess, and was quick with his work. I guess the thing I appreciate more than anything was that I felt that this company could be trusted. We now have them set up to do annual root clean out. Good preventative measure given how much root was removed this time. read more

Our main line started to back up due to a tree root issue and I was recommended Action by a friend who used them prior with good results. Suzanne was very courteous on the phone and accommodated my short notice request to get the issue fixed. Jim arrived early, contacted me and waited patiently while I commuted back from work. He had a great attitude, explained the issue and what he would do to solve the issue (I ask too many questions) and got the job done within an hour (put 100ft of cable down the line and pulled out a fistful of tree root). My review was originally going to be 2-3 stars but Chris saved the day to bring it up to 5. We're in the process of buying a home and needed an additional plumbing inspection and sewer scope. We made an appointment for 2pm and were told the plumber would do the inspection and a technician would come out to do the scope. The plumber, Paul, showed up right on time and was very helpful and knowledgeable. Then 3:15 rolled around and the tech still had not shown up, so I called the office and they told me he could be an hour or longer! We couldn't wait because we were on a time crunch with the seller, so she scheduled us the following day at the same time as a priority. She then told us that they schedule in 2 hour blocks... if we were told this originally we could have planned better with the seller. So, Chris came the following day, right on time at 2:00, was able to find the sewer clean out in 4 feet of snow and gave me a discount for all of the missed communication and inconvenience. Probably the most ethical businesses out there, always willing to work around your schedule and charge a reasonable price. About 10 years ago, I had a sewer line that was backing up. I opened up the phone book, and booked Mr. Rooter to come clear the line. Big mistake. Mr. Rooter said they put a camera down the line, said it was collapsing, and that I had to replace the whole line at a cost of around $7,000. Of course, I was freaking out about that kind of expenditure. I started calling other companies about repairing the line. When they asked who diagnosed it, I would say "Mr. Rooter". Every one of them cringed when I said that name. One of the contractors told me to call Action Drain for a second opinion, which speaks highly of him because he was basically turning down business. The owner came out and sent a camera down the line. Although the line was not in perfect shape, he said with regular cleanings the line would last for quite some time. He even gave me a copy of the video (which Mr. Rooter mysteriously never did). Just as he said, the line still works fine ten years later. I have it cleared every year or so, which is about $100...and sure beats a repair that would have cost me thousands! Keep up the great work, Action Drain. And screw you, Mr. Rooter! read more

I just wanted to update my review as I have since resolved my previous issue. The wrong phone number, address, miscommunication when multiple people are involved, were contributing factors to the delay in getting my concerns addressed. I spoke to both Steve and his manager Justin. Both were respectful in discussing my concerns and I did NOT get the condescension I was prepared for, due to being a woman. The professional way my prior concern was resolved I opted to call Steve again when one of my rentals had a plumbing issue. Steve was there the next day in the time frame given and work explained and completed. I had his direct work number so cutting out the middle man helped tremendously. I have had many homes and many rentals. I have always returned to those who have treated me fair and with respect. Sadly today this is few and far between. Thank-you for this experience. read more
