Just a complete rip-off!!! I brought my vehicle in for a smog, they said it failed. When I went to pay for it they referred me to some ATS automotive. This is a test only location, so they are not allowed to make referrals as it can be a conflict of interest. I didn't go to the place they referred me too, and instead I went to Auto Express, a much better and much more honest mechanic that also does smog. I had him check out my car and he found nothing wrong with it. He ran emissions tests on it twice and told me that there should be no problem passing it. So I brought it back to AD smog because they had offered me $10 off a retest (even though the sign on the wall inside says the first retest is free) and it failed again. So I immediately brought it over to Auto Express and he had him smog it. It passed with flying colors. When I inquired what was going on, he told me that AD smog must be measuring emissions while the vehicle is cold, a practice that is not supposed to happen and often results in an unwarranted failed test. AD smog was able to get $110 out of me for smog tests and made an illegal referral to another business that I assume they are hoping will also benefit from this arrangement they have. Total scam here, don't bring your vehicle to dishonest people. I should not fail a test at one location, drive 3 blocks and then pass the test at another location. That tells me that there is something wrong with AD Smog. I passed 3 separate emissions tests with Auto Express, yet I failed both at AD Smog. Don't waste your money here or at their affiliate location ATS automotive! Deceptive and illegal practices!!!! read more

Tech at adsmog failed my truck. Saying i had a small evap leak. They charge me $61.75 and after i get it repaired another $60. And they staple a business card on where to take it for repairs. So i take it to a mech close bye. They run a smoke test and can't find a leak ,no where. Tech says guy that ran the smog test might have pinched the wrong parts of the hose being a obd 1 vehicle. So $110 for the smoke test. So today i took it to a different star smog station and it passed with no issues. Another $90. So this year it cost me $261.75 to get my truck smogged but at least I didn't let Adsmog rip me off by going to the shop they referred me to. read more

I came in for the Sunday hours because I was refused smog check service at a Pep Boys and at the Maita Toyota dealership. Neither of those big boys would let me come in at 5 pm on a Saturday (and they're both closed on Sundays). They both gave me a lazy excuse that their techs are off at 4:30 (Pep) or 5:30 (Maita), even though officially they're open until 8 pm (Pep) or 7pm (Maita). AD Smog was a breath of fresh air from those idiots. First they were very close by. I was in and out in 45 minutes. The regular price is $39.75 plus $8.25 certificate fee (Very reasonable). They take cards but no checks. The woman at the counter was very helpful and courteous and explained things well. The waiting room looked freshly painted, tastefully decorated, and had good stack of magazines...obviously a woman's touch here! It was a little noisy but not excessively so. The shop is a test-only smog station and didn't seem to offer any other services. Since I went on a Sunday and there was only two other customers there, I probably got faster-than-usual service. On a weekday or Saturday, they might be more fully booked. I'm telling anyone who needs a smog check to go here. Unfortunately I spent 90 minutes waiting here on a Saturday morning and they never smogged my car because their dyno machine was supposedly down so they kept doing other cars, and they didn't communicate that I could be waiting indefinitely, he told me 15 more minutes and then never followed up. I suspect that because they are a one tech operation and the dyno type smog on older vehicles slows them down, they prefer not to do those types of smogs during busy times. In the end, the lack of respect for my time and the lack of communication that they really had no idea when their machine would be back up was the most frustrating part. These behaviors will be present no matter what vehicle you're taking to them, so my recommendation is to avoid this establishment. read more

My husband and I have been here a few times over the years, and they have always been quick and courteous. I went here today, and my car failed the smog test. Years ago my old car failed the test at a different shop, and the shop wanted to charge money to diagnose it. This was not the case with AD Smog-- they provided outstanding customer service. The tech showed me exactly what made it fail (intake tube cracks) and explained how I could go buy the part and replace it. The owner Jennifer explained that I needed to keep the battery connected while replacing the tube, or else the first part of the smog test would essentially be erased and I would have to get another test. Keeping the battery connected would ensure I could get a free retest. I went down the street to the auto parts store, watched some YouTube videos, replaced it, and went back for the retest: all good. I had a question about the part I replaced, and the tech gave me great information. Jennifer and the 2 techs who did the smog test and retest were kind and helpful. I took my 31 year old car to Ad Smog. It typically passes on emissions, but this time it failed on visual inspection (timing). I asked about the failure and the tech was nice enough to explain and show the read-out on the timing gun compared to the emissions sticker. It was a simple fix to take care of and the car passed on the re-test a few days later. The cost was $39.75 for the initial certificate plus inspection, plus an additional $10.25 for the inspection on re-test. Ad allows for one re-test within 14 days of the first one, which is a blessing for older vehicles that may fail for minor problems on inspection.
