This store is really quite tiny so its pretty lucky that it caters for very little people. I went…read morein to get a gift and i'm not really sure `i would want to be driving a pram around there. Anyway it has a selection of clothes as well as maternity wear, gifts and other bits and pieces. They had some really cute clothes for the little ones though I'm not really sure if its expensive or not. I paid £16 for a dress for my niece but come to think of it thats quite a lot for a very fast growing child! Staff are lovely and helped me understand the whole sizing issue.

I can't imagine shops like these were common in the early 80's, and, in any case, I stained pretty much anything within a two-metre radius, so I can't imagine my mum dragged me around boutiques of this ilk when I was a kid. But they're here now, much to the delight of parents everywhere. Fred and Grace's offers exquisite designer clothing for children under the age of 10, as well as accessories for a range of seasons. Nestled in the Morgan Arcade, it's not as easy to get to as your larger emporium type stores, but if you're in the market for high-quality kids' clothes, definitely stop by here. It beats fighting the crowds at Mothercare on a Saturday!

Really that is onlines fault for not statin online price. But other than that they have a great range of everything you need to buy for the new baby. I do find it is quite expensive but I have never really bought anything from their full price, its only been things on offer or in a deal. I like the fact this store has the small clarks so can get my childrens shoes from there too.

It also has a good sized toy department that stocks some of the character toys children love. My son is into Peppa Pig and it is often hard to find any clothing for little boys in the Peppa Pig range , but in Mothercare they do some really nice George Pig pyjamas for £12. You do pay extra buying the clothes here but the quality is so good that it is well worth paying more. When it gets busy there is often a queue but the staff try and open up as many tills as they can so you are not waiting long.

So, I reckon, the mini mi rat pack probably take themselves off to T K Max of a weekend once they reach the age that they become insufferable to all but their parents, and think that they know everything! I estimate that this takes place around the age of ten, give or take one or two years for extreme cases of precociousness or arrested development. But, don't listen to me... what do I know? Minimi Children & Babywear actually cater for kids up to 14 years of age, and provide clothing, accessories (all labelled gear) and shoes... I wince at the thought!

That said, you might find the organisation of the shop a tad confusing - there doesn't seem to be any clear logic to the way the clothes are laid out - with no obvious distinction between age groups or girls' and boys' items - perhaps they're organised according to brand label? Luckily the woman behind the till was more that happy to offer advice, inspiration and expertise and helped me pick out something that was a) Very cute ("do these come in grown up sizes?") b) Fitted properly. The result was coming away with a really awesome little cardigan/dungarees and looking like I really knew what I was doing when I presented it to my uncle. Wins all round then.

Set against the cacophony of one of the world music CDs (taken straight off the shelf), my time in Waterlily was the highlight of my morning, which had been marked by rain, wind and freezing temperatures. The owner had popped out for a few minutes, so her mate was watching the shop, and this chatty lady was talking to me as if she had known me for years. I dug through the gift wrap, and when I failed to find the one I wanted (which was tacked to the wall as a part of a display), she took that one down and rolled it up for me. I'm a sucker for vintage-style goodies, especially when they're on sale. Waterlily is a bit like Polka Dot in Mermaid Quay, but more reasonably priced. I managed to buy two sets of gift wrap (boasting swear words and all!) and five specialty greeting cards for less than £4. I am so coming back here.
