What can't you buy here is the question... A member of our party described it as the Alton Towers of shopping. The amount of eating establishments here is certainly reminiscent of a theme park. The kiddie rides outside are very dated. I've no idea how much they cost. A bizarre amount of wild fowl on the premises too. The whole place is mad. Worth a look if you are passing it's door.

A good selection of children's fashions and school uniforms including pyjamas and dressing gowns…read more Staff very happy to help and will put things back if you phone in advance. The quality of the school uniform isn't as good as M&S in my opinion but it is probably slightly cheaper and seems to be available outside of the main uniform-buying season. Nice and spacious and there is a coin-operated ride at the back to entertain the children (even without coins) while you browse. Some nice Christmas outfits and party shoes at the moment. Also tend to have good reductions and there is usually a sale rail in the store.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and dont hassel you if you are just browsing. There is now alot of competition in the childrens clothes market in Plymouth but this is still worth a good look.

This is one of not many remaining town centre branches of Mothercare, and is much smaller than most of the more common out of town stores. This Mothercare has a range of clothes and accessories for babies and children up to about 8 years old, as well as a small selection of baby and toddler toys, and pushchairs and car seats. Their clothes have a reputation for being good quality, but the brand is not as popular as it used to be. Price wise, Mothercare struggles to compete with discounted shops and the web, but still must have some loyal shoppers who remember going there as children themselves.

The downside for me is that House of Fraser and Debenhams remain out of the centre, so despite it all being very convenient to shop inside, you need to have your coat if you are planning to venture to either of these or beyond. Overall a welcome addition to what was a dreary town centre. There are lots of Plymothians who dislike it, but you can't please everybody!
