My son spent 24 miserable days at Ignite before I was able to move him to a rehab hospital. And I was there EVERY day to advocate on his behalf. The facility is deceiving: beautiful surroundings, slick brochures, and overall impressive. And, some staff truly do the best they can, for example, the PT staff were wonderful. However that one hour/day M-F doesn't count for much when quality care the rest of the time is staggeringly lacking! Beware!

My dad has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's; he was at Ignite due to a broken hip. I chose Ignite because of the reviews. The reviews do not reflect the reality at Ignite. I feel sure that my experience wasn't a one-off event. Middle management has created the current environment and has gone unchecked for a minute. I would agree that most everyone who works there is very nice. The aides and most of the nurses are great.  The number of patients to aide is about 1 to 14, 25 or more. The aides are overwhelmed. My dad required 2 staff members to transfer to the toilet or bed. We press the call button and wait 20, 30, 40 PLUS minutes. Waiting a long time for help to the toilet was an issue! My dad yelled for help, but the nurse station is so far away that they can't hear. I went to the nurses station multiple times over 45 minutes one day to ask for help. The 300 hall nurse did nothing.I personally saw her on her phone 1x; she was eating food the 2nd trip, and was on her computer the 3rd time.This specific nurse on the 300 hall does very little to help care for patients. A couple of times, they didn't give medicine as prescribed but rather as they had time. My dad needs Parkinson's medication 4 times a day; several days this did not happen. Ignite said they can't provide the care needed to keep my dad from getting up on his own. Because of this, I was required to sit with my dad at the facility for 12 plus hours a day. I have seen it all  while basically living at Ignite with my dad. Every day for 3 weeks, I would ask for my dad's catheter to be cleaned per protocol. It only got cleaned 1x. Upon removal of the catheter, he was to have bladder scans per protocol. It took me 4 days of advocating to get his bladder scanned. Dad was admitted with orders to treat malnutrition. They didn't address the issue, he lost an additional 10 pounds in 3 weeks. Even after they flagged my dad's weight loss, they did little. To fix the weight loss, they prescribed an anorexia medication. They did not consult with me or ask my permission. I stopped it the day I found out. The drug is to increase appetite; my dad has a big appetite. The staff charts his eating. They have records of my dad eating very well. Appetite is not the source of the weight loss. The source is the low nutritional value of the food and tiny portions. See pictures. I had to advocate for missed shower days several times. The nurse contact patients are told to communicate with responds at her leisure. After waiting days, I asked why no response, and she told me she doesn't have her phone on the weekends. So, on the weekends, I would ask onsite staff questions, and they would usually say, let me text K****** and magically, I would get an answer from them contacting K****** who doesn't have her phone on the weekends. The company literature says the doctor is on site for weekly rounds. My dad was at Ignite for 5 weeks. We saw the doctor 1x. The doctor told us he would take the catheter out in one week. After a week, Ignite staff said he didn't write any orders to remove it. It took me an additional week of advocating for it to be removed. My dad's boy parts had infection by the time they removed it due to no cleaning. I could go on about the more care issues, but you get the picture. The food is of very low quality, and the portions are tiny. The kitchen was constantly out of food items. The regular dining lady took medical leave, and the facility did nothing to cover her shift. We would often sit for an hour or more, waiting for a meal to be served.The therapy department was good. Dad's therapy team truly cared for his health. His therapy consisted mostly of standing and walking. His therapy usually lasted about 30 minutes a day, Monday through Friday. Weekend therapy sessions were not constant. We moved to another therapy hospital, so I can't comment on rehab success. I voiced my concerns to A** the Care director person. She did not apologize for my dad's experience or ask for a chance to make it right. She only cited facility rules and such about leaving and began her attitude against my dad and me. Dad's shared room was very small space, only about 10 ft by 6 ft. One light switch controls all the lights in the room. Both have to agree if light on or not. The sink is on one side of the room, so you have to invade their privacy to use the sink or get to the closet. Rooms don't have personal A/C and heat units. His room was extremely uncomfortable, as the temperature ranged from 84 to 88 degrees. I could tell about 40 more stories about our experience with the facility and the people in management. I would not recommend this facility.
