This nifty little cobbler's shop previously named "Richard's Shoe Repair" has now been renamed "Adam's Shoe Repair". Excellent service and quick turnaround time, and also located in a convenient location right downtown. It seems like they can do anything, from repainting or refinishing your shoes, to new heels and soles, strap adjustments, and repairing major damages such as sliced leather. I was very impressed with the repair they did on my cut leather boots; the deep cut was glued and painted over so well you could barely make out the scar. My white flats didn't turn out looking brand new as I'd hoped, but then again, repainting white leather is always tricky because of the color. A helpful note -- if you get four pairs of new heels or soles (aka "lifts"), you get the fifth for free! TL;DR at the top, so you don't have to slog through. I took my favourite, most comfortable shoes in. They charged me $85 and returned to me a pair of shoes that looked worse and no longer fit. Hey, listen, I'm sorry to have to do this to you but, this was probably the worst shoe repair I've ever had. Well, it's the only shoe repair I've ever had. I had a pair of shoes for years. Years and years. They were so comfortable and beautiful. The soles were these soft spongy things. It was like walking on a cloud. Of course, being so soft, they started to wear down. They got holes. I didn't mind, I just taped them up. No problem. But, eventually, it did become a problem. I thought, okay, I'll take them into the nearest shoe repair place, and get some new shoes in a week. So I took them in. The guy has a bit lost as to what I wanted. They shoes had been roughed up over time, and it gave them a nice vintage look. I wanted to keep the look. I said specifically, "Do not polish these shoes, I want them to keep the look they have now. Just change the soles. Can we find soles that are as close as possible to the soles already on the shoes?" The guy didn't really know what I was saying. I guess there was a language barrier. He also seemed like he didn't really know his way around the cash register or anything. I mean, nice enough dude, he just didn't know... So he charges me about $85, for one pair of shoes (they cost me ten dollars, by the way, but I really loved them so I was okay with it), but he says I can't pay him right now I have to do it later. He can't use the debit machine. That's fine. No problem. Cash only. Tells me to come back in a week. I do, and guess what... no shoes. Can't get the sole he wants. Come back in another week. Oh, okay. This repeats for a month and I finally say, "Why don't you just call me when you're ready?" Another month later, I get a call and go in. Oops, I apparently need to pay cash only. Because he can't work the machine. Also the shoes have been polished, ruining the aesthetic. Also, it's a bit busy, but the soles look clunky and not like what we'd talked about. I ask about it and another dude is like, just take them and see if you like them and come back later, because it's busy. I do this. They are terrible. They look terrible. They no longer fit. Basically I paid $85 to ruin my favourite shoes. Oh, also, when I had to pay with cash, it had to be exact because not only could the guy not use the debit machine, but he apparently couldn't make any change, so I had to pay in two installments, to have the correct amount. I go in to tell them this and they agree to resole again. They can't do anything else, obviously. This takes another month. The sole is finally an okay sole, but the wrong colour, and still not even close to what we originally agreed on. They don't give me any discount. I decide I've had enough and just take the shoes. At least there's not holes in the soles anymore. I will never return. read more

I took quite a few pairs of shoes in to be replace - heel replacements, and a zipper replacement on one pair of boots. I was told to pick them up a week later, and when I returned they hadn't been started. I had to come back yet again in another 4 days. When I came back the second time they were ready, but I noticed that in the heel repair process a couple of my shoes had actually been dinged up further. The zipper repair was good. I have never had shoes repaired here, so I can't speak to that. I have had mixed experiences with their key cutting though. Their location is great for anyone who works or lives downtown. The first time I went there, I came with a key that had broken off in a lock, and I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to get a reliable copy. The gentleman behind the counter stated he couldn't guarantee success but he'd try his best, and the key ended up working just fine. So far so good. The next time I came, I had a bunch of keys that I needed multiple copies of. Being extremely busy I was less attentive than usual, and only immediately after paying did I realize something was off. Right after leaving the store I realized from the receipt that I got about $80 worth of keys cut and was charged another approximate $80 on top of that. I returned and explained the situation, and while it took a moment for the employee to understand what I was conveying, he realized that there had been an $80ish charge on the register already and that I had overpaid, and he refunded me. He gave the impression he had never issued a refund before and he struggled a bit with the process. On the plus side, all of the keys ended up working. The third time I came in, there was a different staff member there and after cutting a key he said "cash only!" with no explanation in spite of there being a debit machine there that I had used on previous occasions (presumably the network was down or the machine was busted, but he didn't say anything to this effect). Fortunately I had cash (in case I didn't, he probably should have said something *before* cutting the key) and I obliged. He didn't provide a receipt until I explicitly asked for one, and he fumbled with sheets and stamps and seemed to be making it up as he went along. This time, the key that was cut did not work (the base key used was too thick to fit in the lock), and this ended up creating a major hassle and cost for me. When I've attempted to return to deal with the incorrectly cut key, they have been closed in spite of having a sign indicating hours of operation that state they should be open. Ultimately, while some of these experiences made them seem quite shady to me, I believe that the issues I've encountered with them were all good faith mistakes and they weren't trying to deliberately swindle me or anything with the overcharge or insistence on cash payment. At the same time, they just aren't reliable enough for me to go back. read more

Nice staff, however taking in 5 pairs of shoes for repair at once and spending over $200, then having 4 of my heels crack within 2 months of service, I am going to have to tell you to pass. The saddest part about it is that each pair of the 4 pairs was purchased for over $100 and included 2 pairs of Coach heels, one pair of Cole Haan heels and one pair of Juicy Couture. They are all ruined now and can't be repaired or replaced because I bought them all in the U.S. I took my shoes in to get the rubber tips replaced and to have them polished. Such a bummer! I think they used the machine versus doing it by hand, this is why I had the result I did. So sad! :-( read more

Do not go to this place. It took them over 3 weeks to fix my shoes. When I brought them in they told me what the cost would be then called me a week or so later saying that it would cost more. I was so upset because I had been waiting for the shoes so long. They are very disorganized. Every time I came in they seemed to have difficulty finding my shoes. I would not recommend them, poor customer service, long wait times, and costly repairs. read more

Super awesome spot to get your heel tips replaced when you're on the go! One of my heel tips popped off and luckily I only work down the street from here. I popped in on one of my lunch breaks and Adam was able to fix it in under 3 minutes. He didn't even charge me. Great guy!!! Definitely going back. read more

I just had my UGG boots resoled ... Amazing workmanship and great service from everyone involved!

I took a pair of shoes in to be re-soled. They wanted payment of $75 up front, which was fine. When I returned 3 weeks later they could not find the shoes. I returned 4 times over the next two months, each time taking time off work and paying for parking. I was told to phone for an appointment with Adam, who was only in certain days after 3pm and although I phoned several times we never were able to meet. I finally gave up, abandoned my shoes and my $75. I was willing to abandon my claim on the shoes but thought I should get my money back and an apology. They were not willing to do that, saying that maybe someone else picked the shoes up. I showed them my claim check but that didn't help. I have to say that over the 10 years or so that I have dealt with this shoe repair they do good work, which is why I had continued to use them. Now I have no shoes, no money, and no shoe repair to go to. read more

Worst experience. Brought shoes in for cleaning and needed them same day. Owner said no problem. Went back before closing and he wasn't there and shoes were obviously not cleaned well. His staff and older genetlemen finally got a hold of owner so that I could talk to him. He refused my request for a partial refund and instead offered to finish cleaning them when I got back from my trip. Well the reason I wanted them cleaned was for my trip. Don't tell a customer you can do a job same day if you can't. And all I'm asking for is a partial refund for the work he didn't complete. GET YOUR SHOES REPAIRED ELSEWHERE!! I've been going to Adam's Shoe Repair for a few years now with mixed results. This is my go-to for heel repairs, as turn-around time is super fast and relatively cheap, but more demanding repairs are less timely. Recently I took in two pairs of leather boots for some TLC -- one just to get polished up before I store it for the winter, and the other to fix a broken strap and some stitching coming apart. When I went in to pick up my boots a week later, the one pair was clean and polished but the second hadn't even been started on. They said they lost my ticket, and then couldn't call me to verify something about the repair. I'm not sure what they were uncertain about, since the strap had broken clean off so I thought it was fairly obvious what needed to be mended, but in any case they had to keep my shoes an extra day =( When they were finally ready to go, however, they were perfect. I definitely appreciate that Adam's Shoe Repair does consistently great work, even it was a little bit delayed this time. I feel like I will still frequent this place because of good workmanship and a super convenient location, but I will just lower my expectations on the timeline! read more
