I'd left the area decades ago and missed out on experiencing Sitar By The Sea. The same chef can now be found at Addi's Darbar Indian Cuisine. The tastes, textures, and presentation exceeded ALL of the better Indian restaurants we frequented in Silicon Valley (where there's no lack of Indian restaurants to say the least). There is also a vast selection of vegetarian and vegan dished -- not just a token selection. We were very pleased to see many dishes beyond the many with which we were already familiar. I ordered chicken tikka masala and veggie curry take out earlier tonight. Walked into a very classy and busy restaurant. Every table was full and everyone looked satisfied with their meals. Our food was excellent and flavorful. We are glad we ordered rice as our curries did not come with it. Portions were large and we had leftovers. So my friend has been raving about this place and we finally got to go. Well, I believe I'm spoiled after eating some upscale Indian in Manhattan with considerably higher prices. Service was good; rice complimentary which is nice these days. Portions generous i.e. I will have some leftovers to nibble on for lunch. But the Saag Paneer was a bit bland; maybe I should have requested spicer. The Chicken Vinadloo did not have enough kick to it either but was tender. Visited last night, for a take-out. I remember going to Addi's when they were in the current Ragin' Cajun location some years ago. The atmosphere there was amazing, including a live sitar player. Years later, I frequented this newer location and always rated it as excellent. Having sadly not visited recently, I went by again for a take-out. It remains way up there, with the welcoming of me as a customer, the simple but warm offer of water while I waited for my order to come out. I was even given regular updates on my order, and when it might be brought out. But it's the food that stood out when I got home. So very, very tasty. Actually big portions, including a free and extra rice package, all absolutely wonderful. I should have asked for more spice, but that's my fault....next time for sure. Lamb Tikka Masala Chicken Korma (a mild dish by design) Onion Bhajis Pillau Rice Plain Paratha I recommend every dishesl I took home, as there were none I could faulter. My family and I are big fans of Indian cuisine and have tried several spots in the area, but we recently revisited Addi's after some time away (mainly because it's a bit farther from home). The restaurant itself is quit fancy looking. It's def a place you can invite guest/family to. The service is incredibly welcoming and the owner himself greets you and serves you. The place is a very nice, clean establishment that has a cool, Indian (or Middle Eastern) atmosphere. Our waiter and staff were very attentive throughout our dinner. Delighted to be back here. The food and service are both excellent. Beautifully spiced. The baigan bharta (eggplant) was magnificent, and I couldn't stop eating the saag lamb. The range of spices was wonderful, from very mild (for the kids), to a bit burning, but delicious. Food quality was ok. Their Biryani tasted like Jambalaya, not authentic at all! Paneer Makhni was sweet and tasted like it had ketchup added to the sauce. Butter Chicken was good, could use slight more spice. Methi Malai Chicken was ok, too thick of a gravy (too much cream) and was lacking flavors. The highlight was their garlic naan, kulfi's and pakoras. Service was good, our server was very friendly and accommodating. Ambiance is good, you can tell they wanted you to eat and leave, so they can turn table's quickly. For the price and quality of food, I will not be returning. This is our go-to spot for North Indian food to go in south bay. We usually get Malai Kofta and it is really tasty. They also have some unique dishes like Baingan paneer, which we thought was interesting. We have never dined in at Addi's so can't say much about their service. Addi's was packed when we arrived on a nondescript Tuesday night, snagging the last table...fortunately there were only 2 of us, as it was quite a wait for the next table to open. Consider making a reservation! Service was pretty good considering the crowd. Water was quickly provided and my beer arrived with the Vegetable Pakora appetizer. Served with 2 dips it was something of a disappointment, most of the Pakoras were mostly batter with almost no filling. The Pakoras that actually included vegetable stuffing were ok. For dinner we had high expectations for the Navratan Korma and Ghobie Artichoke mains, with Onion Kulcha for the bread. The Onion Kulcha was the high point of the meal, very tasty. A minor nit, I would have preferred the onion cooked to the point where it was not crunchy, but it was good as delivered. We were both disappointed with the 2 mains. The Navratan was clearly the preferred option but it just seemed to be missing something that would put it over the top. I'd almost want to return to see if we could figure out what that something is! The Ghobie Artichoke, ordered medium spicy, was again just OK. I'd actually really like to return, it just seems like we both should have enjoyed these dishes more than we did. read more

I went to Addi's with some friends recently and we all agreed that their food is very poor. I'm not too sure why but it's just rank bad. It's hard to fathom when this restaurant has great staff who are all knowledgeable about Indian cuisine that it should come out tasting and looking so average. For instance the biryanis rice was stuck together when it arrived, it was so off putting that I was ready to complain. However, when you're with friends then you feel reluctant to make a scene. The tandoori chicken also lacked flavor and maybe freshness. We had some other dishes as well as the obligatory Naan, but overall it was poor. I even thought the Naan was of the frozen type. Service was ok but when the food arrives looking and tasting so bad then everything else is irrelevant! read more

My first visit to Addi's in Redondo Beach was for dinner last week. If you are not sure you like Indian food and/or you're a vegetarian and don't think there would be much for you ... think again! Addi's atmosphere is family-like, welcoming and comfortable. It's a place for both a casual meet-up with friends or a nice dinner date. The service was perfect. The staff was very attentive. The food was amazing. Vegetable Samosas were perfect starters. Full of taste and not greasy. My main course was Baigan Bharta (charbroiled eggplant) and the texture of the dish was perfect. The portions were very big and we took the leftovers home. My friends ordered the Lamb royal and they couldn't say enough about how delicious it was. For drinks we ordered the Taj beer and a bottle of wine from the large selection. Thank you to Addi, we had a fabulous evening! Addi's is back! A couple months ago I was shocked and super sad when I saw on Yelp that Addi's was closed. After doing some research I found out that they would open soon but with just new partners. Fast forward a couple months later and here we are with newly remodeled Addi's. Yay; my favorite restaurant is back! The walls are newly painted and it looks very nice inside. The menu still has some of the delicious favorites that we all know and love. My absolute favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer. I chose to get those on my recent visit to see if it was still as a good as I remembered. Both dishes were indeed as delicious as I recall. It still remains to be the best Indian dishes I've had ever. The flavors for both were on point. I loved the overall thickness of the sauce of the Chicken Tikka Masala. The pieces of chicken were large and tender. The Saag Paneer was very flavorful. I loved putting the sauce over the basmati rice. I am thrilled to see Addi's open up again. Though a slightly different name and a little change to the look; what hasn't changed is the great taste of their menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants and remains to still be one of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay. read more
