On our return we were given menus in Portuguese but one of the waiters, who turned out to be the son of the owner, was able to help us order. The menu was full of authentic Portuguese dishes so a couple of us ordered a beef dish with gravy, which was really good. The wine, like the rest of red wines in Portugal was also great and not expensive - as was the entire meal. Even though we were visiting the town for only a couple of days we all agreed to return the next night. Unfortunately, on the second visit, our translator was absent - but the owner called home and had him come back to work to help us order. Is that service or what! My only regret was that we had to leave the next day to continue our trip around Portugal. If you visit Castelo Blanca, this is THE RESTAURANT to try.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here after a long travel day from Morocco and from Lisbon. We found the Tapas place and fortunately they were still open when we arrived at 8pm to get some tapas. We ordered the hamburger, the fried shrimp, grilled peppers, and cracked eggs on fries. All were very delicious and my favorite is definitely the fried shrimp. For wine, we got a bottle of the Clarete, which is a red and white grape blend. It smelled like a bougelais, very banana. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done for four tapas and a bottle of wine was around 43 euros. Very good prices and will be back next time we are near Monsanto.

The cherry egg tart was great! It resembles the Portuguese egg tart, however in a more tart and gooey experience. We also didn't find this in any other pastry shop. Chestnut beer resembled a good lager. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, the two items was around 6 euros. Cash only. Delicious and great patio for outside views and ambiance.
