Do you rely on a tracking system in the car to tell you where you are going? Do you communicate with loved ones over vast distances? Are you working in remote areas outside of the telecommunications grid? You may be using satellite communication without actually realising it, or someone in your family, your business or your customer base may be utilising satellite relay points to communicate with you. These folk may have set that system up or be doing maintenance on it when something burns out or needs upgrading. They are the people you go to when you are managing the upkeep of your satellite. Even if it is one in your back yard that is sourcing the television you like to watch - if something happens to it and it requires fixing, and your service provider does not cover it, give these folk a call. You can also communicate with them about long distance communication via mobile satellite phones, and hire them. I have a relative who goes out to areas geological interest who needs to communicate with his wife, and another who goes out to rescue animals trapped in mining company facilities who needs to communicate with the geologist, so they are using satellite phones. Looks more like a walkie talkie because it has a short thick antenna, but otherwise it is a mobile phone; pretty neat, and vital if you are in a small group or by yourself in a remote area. On land and sea sometimes it is impossible to communicate without a satellite connection, so it is good these folk are doing their thing and have been for twenty years or so. The great irony is that the receptionist who operates the front door of the actual business premisis can not always hear you when you press the door buzzer, or if she's on the phone she may ignore you, so I always find that amusing; oh, and I've learnt to just go around the back to the guys who are working on whatever - they'll sort you out if the receptionist is busy any way.
