The stylist apparently had 20 years of experience, so my daughter went ahead and booked an appointment. At the start of her appointment she discussed with the stylist want she wanted and even showed her a photo of how she wanted it cut, (the photo was her hair from a previous haircut at a different salon). The stylist BUTCHERED her hair. I know some hair stylist will cut curly hair dry, but this stylist didn't even look at her curl pattern she just cut inches off her hair. It looks nothing like the photo she shared when she arrived. She is in tears over this horrendous haircut. All of her beautiful curls are GONE. Definitely will not return and do not recommend this salon.

I had no idea…read morethey existed until my mom/aunt/cousin all told me it was awesome....but they've been around for 4 years, so I thought it must just be that I was really unobservant (and I didn't live in the area). I got a great cut here. I have really thick, curly hair. Even though I requested a straight style cut, she made sure that it would still look good if I wore it curly, which I didn't ask for, but I reaaaally appreciate! I asked her some product questions, and she recommended some products that she doesn't even sell! So I knew I could really take her advice. Two reasons it gets four instead of five stars: When she was done, I asked her to make my bangs just a little shorter, and she took off about 1/2 an inch, when I was thinking more like 1/4 inch. So they were a little awkwardly short, but it's partly my fault for not being really specific. The second reason is because the location is not super beautiful. It's defintely nice, but it doesn't feel like a luxury. But I suppose that is maybe why the haircuts are only $30!

I'd had a facial once before at a prestigious salon in Chicago's famous Watertower Place, and it was not nearly as good as the one I received right here in lil' ol' Duluth, MN at Rue 48! The aesthetician's fingers worked their magic on my face, neck, and shoulders; and although at that Chicago salon I could not properly relax because they hard sell peddled their products at every turn, the aesthetician at Rue 48 in Canal Park was respectful of my boundaries. I had lots of skincare products I had just purchased that I loved and had been using for a long time and my skin was in good condition so she showed me without pushing one bit. The facial made my good skin glow in the best way (as a complement to my glowing personality hahaha!) I'm about to book another appointment, this time for a pedicure. I'll let you know how it goes. Canal Park itself is a must-see on the Duluth waterfront with myriad places of note to please your palate, whet your whistle, shop till you drop, sight-see and more. She was joined about 20 minutes later by another person, and they rushed through our pedicures. Neither was done at a professional level. -My person reworked the final polish so many times, it was mottled, wet, and uneven; probably the worst professional pedicure I have received. - After nearly 2 hours in the salon, I walked bare-footed and wet-polished to the front. There, I tried to salvage the job with polish remover myself. -We were not offered a discount for our trouble, so I asked for one. This was the most disappointing aspect to me; the owner or manager should have been responsive immediately for the poor service we received, and offered at least some compensation. -After settling on a minor readjustment, I left feeling pretty unsettled and embarrassed in front of my guest, but I am very clear. The response below is the only one I've received to date, after emailing twice within the last two weeks. I even asked to change the originally requested date to ensure they had staff availability, but still no response. Valentine's Day weekend would seem to be a busy weekend for spas, and I am shocked this establishment doesn't have their ducks in a row to take advantage of the special weekend.
