Even though Avid clearly had many clients to support, he made me feel like I was the only one with his attention to my case. As an English teacher, I value communication skills above all else. Avid explained everything to me in the clearest terms, both aloud and in writing via text messages. He told me exactly what next steps I needed to take and what I could expect. At all times, it was clear that he was speaking from a wealth of experience, knowledge, and legitimate expertise in the world of auto repair. This monday I went here for a check engine light fix, i originally went on friday and they cleared the light for free to see if it would come back without me ever getting gas (it did). on Monday they did a smoke test and tried other measures to find out what could be wrong and they couldn't figure it out. Due to them not being able to figure it out they didn't charge me anything. They didn't even ask/pressure for a tip or a review. Overall, they worked on my car for almost an hour and a half to try to find out the problem, and didn't charge me for anything, even labor. (still tipped them) Only been here on this occasion but they showed strong morals/values. read more

I took my car in last week for state inspection and was told that I needed a bunch of things repaired and was quoted an estimate of 6K, during which time I found out that Adiel retired 3 months ago and the person I was speaking with is the new owner. He said that since I am a loyal Adiel customer that he would pass the inspection and suggested that I do the minimal repair he recommended, which would cost about $1,200. Also when I asked about the hourly rate of $90 vs. the $125 he was charging, he said, oh, ok, I will give you Adiel's rate. Adiel is an absolute swindler. He has been overcharging me for a couple of years now, until my boyfriend found out. He also neglected to bypass a broken air compressor even though I told him that it was causing noise. The jammed a/c compressor ended up snapping the serpentine belt and causing a major breakdown on the highway. He barely does anything and will hand you a $500 bill. Do not go to him if you don't know much about cars. read more

My SO James' car received fender, bumper and headlight damage on his 2009 Civic when someone hit the front side. He went to a bunch of other places to get quotes on the damage and they were asking for a ridiculous amount. He finally went on Yelp and found Adiel's through the excellent reviews. Adiel gave him the best estimate so he decided to go for it. He bumped out the fender, repainted the bumper and compounded the headlights. Everything looked brand new when he went to pick it up. Adiel will now be the go-to place for all things auto repair. Highly recommended! Plus Adiel is a really friendly guy, honest (sticks to an estimate and doesn't screw you in the end with a higher price), and seriously knows what he is doing. Adiel is a magician! Our car got stolen. Police found it and it was missing a fender, front and rear doors and more. Thieves also cut through the electric parts to disable the alarm. The timing couldn't have been worse as we had a big family trip coming up. We called a few other shops who wouldn't take the job at all as this is an old car and parts are not being made anymore and they would have to hunt them down. Adiel was the only one who took on the job and did it under time pressure of our upcoming trip. He also did it for a very reasonable price for such a huge task. Great place for walk-ins. Adiel was referred to me by his neighbor who does battery installations. Adiel charges $90 an hour. He quoted me for an hour and half but he only took about 1 hr to complete the work. However, he still still charged me for the entire duration. In addition, he talked in mechanical related terms not layman's terms so that was a little confusing. Also, the front desk women (perhaps wife, family member or simply employee) was not friendly and provided subpar customer service. Would recommend this place if you are in the area and need immediate work and they have availability. Pro's: fast and attends to walk-ins, Cons: atm fees, overcharge if work is finished early, and subpar customer service. read more

I was quite annoyed all those years back that he charged me for an assessment for my older car and couldn't repair it right there and then. Adiel, you sweet, sweet man. Its tough finding a mechanic that you truly believe wont rake you over the coals, and are willing to yelp about with a 5 star review. Adiel was recommended to me by a classmate. Sort of this friend of a friend's dad is Adiel sort or thing. But this man has been nothing but kind and extremely fair and upfront with me, which is quite pleasing as I (gasp) know nothing about cars. For example: when my car wouldnt start, after it was taken to another shop 3 times, he fixed it. One month later it happened again, he towed it from Bayside to Woodside - for free - and fixed it for good, for free. and was sincerely apologetic about the inconvenience. I travel from Bayside to go here, which is quite out of the way. Honestly, every time I leave this shop and get the bill, I always wonder why its so cheap. I like this man so much, I bring my car here for oil changes, just because I want to give him my business- I actually feel bad going to other places. read more

welp. i will say that it was a pretty painless experience. Adiel did answer his own phone when i called and was quite pleasant. we made an appointment for within the hour for a NYS inspection. when i got there, i was made to wait a little because there were other customers there, which is no biggie. parking is kind of limited there as it is a rather small street and there are a lot of one-ways in the area. that's just fyi. i was outta there in an hour. technically, my part was done in 15-20 minutes. he had one of his employees do the inspection, which is fine, no biggie. charge was $37. i had a $20 charge on top because i needed him to sign some extra paperwork. i thought it was a lil steep for lifting a pen and stamp but this review is really based on his overall customer service and hassle-free approach. he seems to know his way around an Audi and Porsche, just fyi. i liked him but may consider going to a chinese shop in flushing or something next time for a $10 inspection. i say this because i know there is nothing wrong with my car. but if you wanted to find out things about your car with the inspection, then i say go to Adiel! read more

I am a car enthusiast so i did a ton of research before handing off my car to get work done. I brought my VW Rabbit for some custom work. Adiel assisted me during the entire process with zero hassle... i was able to store the bumper and other external components at his shop until i was ready to leave my car to get work done (my wife was thankful). Once dropped off, the turn around time was about a week and all of the requests i made were met. The quality is great and his attention to detail is much appreciated. No bubbles, no drips - clean and smooth finish. They even buffed out a few spot of over spray the last shop left behind! The staff is friendly, professional and always busy when i came by. With the modifications already done on my car they treated it as if it was their own. Def will be going back soon (unfortunately) since some people don't know how to parallel park in NYC. Exactly what I expected, I needed an inspection and an oil change. Adiel answered the phone (secretary was out for the day) and he took great care of me. He could have probably been like oh you need a new engine! I think this describes everyone's worst fear when they go to a mechanic. I've been bringing my car to Adiels auto repair for over a year after reading reviews on Yelp about the quality workmanship and equally as important, trustworthy services. I have a 2012 Mazda 3 so up until this review the work has been basic, oil changes, upgraded the rear sway bar, inspections, etc. This past Saturday (just 3 days after Christmas) someone decided to back into my car and left a serious sized dent in the rear passenger door without the decency to leave a note. Being that my car was purchased new from the dealer and is less than 2 years old (coupled with the fact that I now have to pay for someone else's mistake), I naturally freaked out. I got in contact with Adiel who genuinely seemed frustrated with the situation and offered his assistance and gave me a great rate. I didn't even need to file an insure claim being that the rate was so completive. He began work on the car as soon as I dropped it off, was able to bring out the dent, sanded the entire door, blended the paint to look like a factory finish and had the car back to me in no time. Anyone who knows even a little something about cars realizes how much of an art body work is and how difficult it is to do such a task. It's amazing how you cannot tell the accident ever occurred regardless of the angel that you're looking at, the lines of the car flow just as good as new. I wanted to take the time to write this review to express how Adiel turned an extremely frustrating experience into something manageable with no indication that the accident ever occurred. This was my final stop after speaking to a few other shops in my neighborhood. All the other shops were quick to solve my problem by recommending a "big job, labor intensive" solution. Which obviously meant a lot of labor involved, Cha Ching! Adiel took the time to discuss a few repair options I could consider. After agreeing on the best solution, he told me to bring the car in the next morning and would get started on the job immediately. After just a few hours, he called to say the car was ready (WOW). I was completely impressed with his work. My car looked as if there was no damage done. He even took the time to remove a small blemish which was not part of the repair. Finding a good mechanic is similar to finding a good hairstylist, manicurist, or yoga studio, you want to keep them forever and will consider not moving due to the convenience and sheer comfort of it all. The difference is that when you walk into a salon or yoga class as a young woman without a wedding ring, you are not in danger of being scammed. Now my '95 Volvo and I have been through some tough times (fuel tank recall, A/C compressor that broke in the Magnolia Projects of New Orleans, driver's seat that was in a permanent reclined position), so I know a few things about cars, contrary to my ponytail and platform heels. I was distraught when Strauss closed, yet intuitively relieved because I always felt like I was being taken for a ride, pun intended. When my car's battery was dead and could not be revived, I called Adiel and he accommodated me the same morning. He gave me specific directions to the shop, and allowed me to leave the car when I went to work. I felt like he listened to me when I described the problem, and speculated with me on the cause. I passed the day feeling comfortable the car was in good hands, and secretly hoping I could leave it there overnight (all NYC residents will know what I mean.) I called him at the end of the day and he said that he recharged the battery, and tested the alternator. He suspected the battery drain was due to me leaving the car unused for 2 weeks while I was on vacation. The next morning, I went to go pick it up. The price he charged me was for 1.5 hours of labor. Unfortunately, he couldn't find my keys and I was late for work. He apologized profusely, then arranged for one of his employees to bring me to work. I got driven to work in a silver Mercedes (YAyah!), and Adiel actually parked my car for me in front of my house so it was there when I came home. The car has been running like a charm ever since. The 7 train was delayed today. For an hour. After being crammed underneath an adolescent boy's armpit in 99 degrees, I think I will keep my car. I have Adiel now, after all. read more

Most of his clienteles are customers with high end cars but he also works on lower end cars such as my hoop-tie. He did some routine maintenance but was also able to track down and fix some pesky squeaks and creaks for me. He is an honest and competent mechanic. I have an 2005 Audi A6. I originally took my car to the Englewood NJ Audi Dealer, They said to replace my high pressure fuel pump to fix my MIL light which was on with a code of P0305 (cylinder 5 misfire). He worked with me and my extended warranty company to get the issue resolved. The Audi dealer wanted $1000 out of my pocket to fix this and they had the wrong diagnosis. I worked with Adiel directly and it only costed me $380 out of my pocket. Then I submitted the bill for the $380 to my ext warranty company and they paid $330. So the total repair cost to me was $50. I would definitely recommend ADIEL's and will be bringing my car to him from now on. read more

I was looking for a new mechanic in the Astoria area with experience with foreign cars (I have a Volvo). The reviews on Yelp for Adiel's looked really good, and I saw a Volvo mentioned in one of the reviews, so I figured it was worth a shot. My car had been making a strange noise and not running well, which reminded me of when a spark plug had died earlier in the year. I mentioned this when I brought the car in, but didn't mention the other work that had been done on the car in the past couple years--nor was I asked. I asked the receptionist if they could check out the car and let me know what they thought the problem would be. She told me they would call when they looked out the car. The next day, I still hadn't received a call from Adiel's. I called in the early afternoon, and the receptionist told me the mechanic was "almost done," but didn't say what the mechanic thought was wrong with my car (which is what I asked) or even what work had actually been done. I came in the following morning to pick it up, and found that they had done over $400 of random replacements, all without checking with me first. To top it off, they replaced both the serpentine belt and tensioner, which had been replaced only a few months earlier! And when I asked about this, neither the receptionist or the mechanic could tell me what was wrong with the belt or tensioner. I definitely won't be returning here--even the mechanics that I haven't cared for as much called me before doing any work on a car, unless I clearly told them it was okay to replace parts. If you do go here, be as specific as possible so you don't get unnecessary work done on your car. read more

I came here again to have my Honda Civic's car door fixed from getting side swiped. I am so happy with the results! Not only that, but the repair was so fast! I thought I would have to leave it in the shop for a week or so. The entire process was quick. I brought my car in on a Thursday so he could take a look at it and see what needed to be done. My car is a lease so he needed to take care of additional dings that the inspection would get me for. I set up an appointment to bring it in that Tuesday morning and my car was ready today (Friday)! He is extremely kind, pleasant to work with, generous with going above and beyond what he says he can accomplish at a certain cost, and invaluably helpful in situations i have been in involving, for example, a hit and run and another accident when the driver wanted to pay for my fix out of pocket. Every time I pick up my car, the interior has been vacuumed and cleaned. He advises me on things like winterizing, fluids, and what's a waste of money based on the age of my car and how much "life" is expected in it. When my husband passed away, (he did much of the car stuff), Adiel promised me he would take the best care of me with regards to my car. When I walk in, his kindness makes me feel like a daughter! Came here after comparing prices with other body shops and dent removal services in addition to reading the reviews here. I received a dent and a bunch of scratches on the lower front corner of the bumper cover of my new 2016 Civic while I was in Canada over the Memorial Day weekend and sought to have them repaired. I dropped the car off in the evening for repair and an oil change after receiving an estimate lower than all other local competitors and got it back just now, a day and a half later, looking like new. Adiel even had the car cleaned as I had dropped it off covered with dead bugs and bird poop from the road trip over the weekend. He even repaired the damage to the undercarriage due to my hitting bumps at high speed with the low stance of the vehicle without charging me extra $$. I highly recommend that folks in the area should come here for their auto repair needs. It's also close to the R/M subway stop if you need to drop it off for a couple of days and need to take public transportation back. I recently had problems with my A/C taking a long time to blow cool air - when it did, it was not blowing as cold as it should. I took my car to Adiel's Auto Repair in Woodside, Queens to have him diagnose the issue. The guy who runs the shop is in his early 60s and has decades of experience with Audi & Porsche as well as multiple certifications for each Manufacturer. I like to do all the work on my car but for stuff like a/c where you need specialized equipment to do it right, I'll leave that to someone else. He performed the following: Check a/c Check compressor Vacuum and recharge A/C The total bill was 220 + tax. He charges 75/hr for labor which is quite reasonable for this area. Biener Audi charges 135 to provide a reference point. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the work that he did. He originally suspected the compressor but it was able to hold a large amount of pressure so it was just a refill job. I had a large gash on the side of my car. I brought it to 3 places at the College Point Chop Shops. 1 said for $50, they could compound the gash in 20 minutes. Another said for $700, they'll make the whole side beautiful. The 3rd said for $150 and 2 hrs, they can repair it. I brought my car to Adiel after reading the reviews. He fixed the whole side for $500. He explained everything he had to do, from purchasing paint to sanding it, and using electricity (He never drills hole into the car as cheap repair shops do) to fix a dent. He showed me pictures of my car to show how it was fixed. It took 3 days. When I asked him why it takes so long, he said "You want a good job? Good jobs take time." He was soooooooo right. He is now my full-time mechanic because he is a trustworthy one. I drive all the way from Whitestone to his shop in Woodside for three reasons: I trust him. He's honest.
