Reviews matter. As I considered options and asked for recommendations, Rachel's name came up…read morerepeatedly. I looked at Yelp for a review, and saw the other unfavorable review. It made me pause even though it was just one review. I have to say that I did my homework. I was looking for help for my daughter attending school in Santa Barbara, unfamiliar with resources as we live out of the area. Multiple individuals referred Rachel, she is well known in her community and building her career and reputation. The professional community speaks highly of her, as does several colleges in the area. The therapy process is not always easy. In the two months that I have dealt with Rachel, she has been professional, fair, and committed to providing help and able to maintain privacy for my daughter while staying in touch appropriately with me. I have been very happy with Rachel. She is knowledgeable and is well connected in the community, able to connect with others and lead and facilitate a "team" approach to improve the effectiveness of a treatment plan customized for my daughter.

Rachel is the upmost respected professional in her field. I trust her whole heartedly with care and…read moretreatment. She is compassionate, a wonderful listener, and has a plethora of knowledge across all practice areas. I highly recommend her to my friends and their children. She knows how to connect with those struggling in adolescence and beyond.

When you set out to find a therapist to help you through your life issues, you want one who can…read morerelate or empathize with you and more importantly you want someone you can TRUST! There is something very powerful when the therapist you're working with really truly "gets you" and who intuitively guides you to real inner peace. That therapist is Jacquelyn. I think it's her life goal to bring love, honesty, humanity and encouragement to every soul she meets. She is a true healer!!! If you want to really rid yourself of your personal hell and be a happy person then I encourage you to TRUST HER and let her perform a sort of autopsy of your mind and life. Together with Jacquelyn's guidance you can discover your life blocks, overcome them and set out on a new direction of personal achievements. I'm not sure where I would be in life if it weren't for Jacquelyn but I'm 100% certain I wouldn't be where I am today. What I learned from Jacquelyn is that my traumas do not define me. I am empowered by them because I am a survivor. I am a strong and confident woman who has been to hell and back a few times but have managed to rise up against it all. Jacquelyn taught me how to draw strength from my past, acknowledge my fears without giving in to them and to love myself. She also showed me how to appreciate even the smallest of blessings which open this doorway for me to smile. I smile a lot now!!! I have days where I still cry. I have days that I find myself full of fear. I have days that I wish I could sleep through. I'm not sure you can ever be cured of life but she gave me tools to get out of my head and live again. One time I was with Jacquelyn and we started laughing so hard at something and before we knew it we had tears streaming down our faces. I'll take happy tears over sad tears any day of the week. But to do it with someone as wonderful as Jacquelyn well, that's some powerful medicine right there. Get your medicine with Jacquelyn today but don't be trying to steal my appointment times!!! LOL.

I wanted to set up an appointment through an EAP program with Dr. Brooks, but Dr. Brooks mistakenly…read morethought I was "double-insured" when I mentioned that my regular health insurance is BCBS and refused to treat me as a result of that. He claimed that he has issues between clients double-insured with Aetna and Cigna in the past, and told me that BCBS is Aetna (which is not true, they are completely separate companies). I understand that insurance is confusing, but an EAP program is completely different from private insurance and Dr. Brooks isn't even listed as in-network for BCBS so there would have been no conflict. Though I was unable to have a session with him, I think it is a huge red flag that: 1. Dr. Brooks refused to listen to or believe a client trying to explain their own insurance plan. 2. Acted in this way while not understanding even which insurances were within his network.

Dr. Brooks is great. I was referred to him by my UCSB through my insurance. He is very, very…read moreattentive and observant, intuitive, and clearly really smart. I went for an ADHD assesment, which he took a great deal of time to do, because he did a ton of interesting tests. And came out of it with a better knowledge of my psychological state, aswell as information about my body language and how I express myself that after 23 years of life I and Noone I associate with have noticed. I plan to see him again for psychotherapy when I am on a break from school and have more time. Would greatly recommend him to anyone else. At the very worst I could say he is a bit short, and that if you see him don't have hurt feelings if he cuts you off if you are repetitive. But, we were working on a short time line and I tend to ramble, which he kept under control. Not really a complaint, but something to be aware of, it may have been specific with me though due to how I behave. All around he was great, his office was great, he got back to me very promptly and worked very hard to find times around both of our busy schedules to meet. I did not end up being assessed with ADHD but a similar diagnosis. Again, I would very highly recommend him, he's awesome.
