We visited this restaurant last year and had an amazing experience. However, on our recent visit, we noticed that the menu had changed significantly and the selection was much more limited. We ordered the Thecha Chicken, which was lacking in salt and tasted average. The Murg Mumtaz was also average and did not stand out. The naans were the highlight of the meal and were well prepared. Overall, it was an average dining experience, and unfortunately, we would not be returning. read more

We waited at least 45 minutes for our food, and I even considered leaving at one point. We arranged a surprise bday dinner for a friend here as it came highly recommended. The Yorkville location was not open on Sunday so we came to Richmond Hill. It is located at the bottom of a building and access is from a back road but there was lots of free parking. The restaurant was pretty but the staff told us this location is classical Indian but downtown is more about presentation. The staff were all friendly and helpful but some of the younger newer staff need more training.....they removed our cutlery between apps and dinner but did not bring any new cutlery until we asked. The only vegan gluten free app was the okra salad. They couldn't guarantee that the fries and aloo tikki were gluten free. Our table enjoyed the veg platter & meat platter (it was not a sizzler), fish, lamb, kofta, chicken, dal and rice. All was good but not spectacular as was hyped. read more

OMG!!! What a delicious heaven of Indian food! No other Indian restaurant has come close to the taste of Adrak. They have multiple vegetarian options and few vegan options as well. Their okra salad is to die for. Their Anjeer (Fig) Koftey is another dish to die for. Their service was pleasant. We went there early and left after a few hours. They were very wonderful about it. We visited Adrak in Richmond Hill for Father's Day. Unfortunately it was not a great experience. We got there and after all of our party showed up (on time for our reservation) it took a while for the servers to take our drink orders. It was not busy at all! We finally ordered our food. We ordered all of the food without cilantro due to an allergy. They forgot and had to go back to get it without. Finally got the food and one roti was missing. We ordered the kadhai paneer which was the one dish everyone enjoyed, dal makhani which was fine and a fish curry which was not flavourful at all. They forgot to bring out our eggplant dish and when they did, they brought it with cilantro. We reminded them again that we needed without. We saw through the open kitchen window that they scraped it off the top. This is very dangerous for anyone who is allergic (to it as it could create a severe reaction). We sent it back and cancelled it. For a restaurant this pricey this was not worth it and the service was sub-par. read more

I have never more disappointed in a restaurant. This Indian restaurant has been around for many years and had decided to try this place with my family. However, the utter disbelief in lack of service and feeling of prejudice had ruined any experience that could have been felt. Upon ordering our meal, we received our mango lassis fairly quickly. That was end of any service you may have. After ordering our meal, it took a staggering one and a half hour to get our food. Although the food itself was tasty, the lack of service was not enough to make up. Also, the butter chicken and fish curry had peanuts in it without any warnings on the menu or by the wait staff. We arrived and were seated around 9pm on a weekday evening, and it took forever for anyone to come take our order. I really wanted to love this place after reading so many good things about it, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. I came here for the first time this past Saturday evening around 7:30pm. There was actually an engagement party happen, so it was a pretty full restaurant when we arrived. We Ordered: - Veggie Platter - Non Veg Platter (Both were really tasty but pretty expensive for $40 & $45 each. ) - Butter Chicken - Chicken Tikka Masala - Baingain Bhartha - Shahi Paneer ( SWEET ) - Daal Makhani - 3 Butter Naans - 1 Laccha Paranthas - 3 Tikona Naan -1 Garlic Naan - 1 Romali Roti The main dishes were probably the least exciting for me, especially because some of them were incorrect, and the naans were lukewarm ( some were also burnt ) I think the timing was a bit off in preparation for them. Something I wanted to highlight was that both the Butter Chicken & Shahi Paneer dishes had a very sweet gravy. When we placed the order, we asked our server if either of them would be sweet, and if they could make them a bit more savoury. To which, the manager scoffed and said, of course, they will not be. Well, they both ended up being really sweet and unenjoyable. Four of us were actually sick later than night & the following day from some of the main dishes. The biggest let down was the service. First, we had seating issues, where we were offered a poor seating option that was very tight and uncomfortable for our party of 6 and another neighbouring party. Secondly, our order was incorrectly taken by the Manager himself ( they accidentally served us saag paneer instead of shahi paneer), when we asked for additional cutlery, staff would often be confused about how many additional spoons we needed, and sometimes forgot. Lastly, the wait times between our drink order, appetizer order main dishes order were 30-45min apart each. We spent over 2.5hrs here, and not by choice. Additionally, no servers or management came to check on us even once during our meal. I understand that since it was a Saturday night full of customers & one large party, that they might've been a little overwhelmed and understaffed in the kitchen, but it really created a poor experience for my family & I, especially since we were celebrating a special occasion. Our Total Bill was about $270 + tip & honestly it felt overpriced for the quality of food & service we received. I'm pretty skeptical I would come back here again, especially after this experience. I decided to visit tonight for dinner with my Boyfriend as they had spots open for patio seating this evening. First off, The -1 rating is because we ordered 5 items. And we waited 15-20 mins between each dish in order for the next one to come out and to our table. It was to a point where we sat there long enough to feel full already as it's already setting in our stomachs. Meanwhile, everyone else around us and including us, sat there waiting for our food to come out...as we see this big group (approx 10 ppl) keep getting their dishes sent to their table. We managed to talk to the manager(?) A male who was taking orders at the time and asked why we had to wait approx 15 mins per dish to come out, for his reason to be; that it's because of the big group that it's a little slower than normal. Tbh, I don't find the reason acceptable, all the tables around had to wait a very long time for their food while the big group got their meals constantly coming towards them. To a point where the table next to us also asked the male manager(?) When their food is coming because they've been waiting for a while. I think management need to better manage other customers as well not just to focus on the big group. Also, for some reason, the servers, always comes and asks if they can take away our dishes even though clearly we haven't finished our food and have A LOT of food left on the dishes. For the food though, it was 5/5. We got the samosa, Lamb chops, butter chicken, biryani and garlic nan. Super Service & Ambience Drinks are great, with an Indian twist, excellent decor and fanfare with the drinks. Bartender (Rakesh) is knowledgeable, was awesome, and knows his cocktails, liquor, liqueor... Vivek, our attendant was AWESOME... If you value ethics and professionalism in service, and align this to where you want to spend your hard earned dollars, think twice about spending your money at this establishment. After booking my mother's 80th birthday event at Adrak Richmond Hill for 20 people on June 20, 2023, securing the reservation with a credit card and obtaining a confirmation of booking from the restaurant, the manager had the moral ethic to cancel our reservation a mere 72 hours before our event on July 15th, 2023 because a larger group needed more space. This larger group booked AFTER our reservation and furthermore, the restaurant did not adhere to acceptable good practices in restaurant management by respecting existing and confirmed reservations. Many excuses about not having a deposit (I gave my CC and was not asked for a deposit- texts to prove this), and not picking out the menu (menu was being discussed during the exchange). Apparently, the larger group needed more space and my reservation was perhaps not as important to them (aka $?). In anticipation of the restaurant's response as to contrary on this website, here is what I received as a text "the large group has .. added more guests so we won't have enough space to accommodate your group. As such, I regret to inform you that we won't be able to host your lunch". Sorry Adrak- you lost a loyal customer and a great deal of your reputation. read more

Overall tastes are flavorful just right. Grilled fish is ok. It was a little bit under cooked but the server and chef offered to cook the new whole fish for us . However we didn't wanna waste food so we just wanted them to cook well the fish. It was pleasantly well handled and fixed by the chef . We also had masala tea. Good they didn't add sugars. Authentic Indian cuisine at a reasonable price is tough to come by outside of the usual suspects (Brampton, Mississauga) but Adrak located in Richmond Hill really hits the mark! During our visit, we ordered the Tandoori Masala Tikka, Paneer Makhan (same gravy as butter chicken), Biryani, a variety of naans and masala chai. This was more than enough to feed 6 individuals and only cost around $100. All items were fresh out of the oven (highly recommend their garlic naan) and had the right amount of spice. As an FYI - you can specify your spice level while ordering. The only disappointment was their biryani, which tasted a little bland, so if you are a biryani lover I would avoid this item. It has been a while since I have been to an Indian restaurant. This one is on the upscale side. Everything from cutleries to furniture to service is fancy. Family friendly. Food is a bit pricey for the portions. I asked the waiter what is vegan friendly and he listed few options. Not bad but I was expecting more vegan friendly dishes from an Indian restaurant. Loved the JHEEnGaa aka shrimp Masala, the famous DUM biryani, the NonVeg Thali, and many more dishes. However, recently, went out for dinner at the same place, and ordered the King of all Entrées.. A full Roast Leg of Lamb, famously known as RAAN-E-Sakander ( means Leg of Alexander the great).. It is a special order as it takes hours to prepare ( marinate the leg of lamb with herbs and spices ). , then slow roasted for hours, and the result was mouth watering meat coming off the bone, served with premium Basmati rice infused with Saffron, Naans, side dish of Daal Makhani ( buttered Lentil). This was followed by great Pistachio Kulfi ( ice cream dessert).. Must have dish... Though the price tag on Raane-Sikandar is a hefty $70 but it is worth spending.. Good enough for 2-3 people. They have big clear glass window to some sections of their kitchen which gives an amazing view of the chef making fresh Indian breads and tandoor. Very neat, cozy lights and candles with instrumental music. Fancy eh..What more can one ask for here? Adrak is One out of very few Indian restaurants in GTA which gives you a feeling of a high end professional restaurant experience. The food taste very delicious and service was high standards. We were feeling very generous to tip them however they accepted tips ONLY in cash even if you paid through your Card. They totally deserved to be tipped. Sadly we didn't carry cash with us. But I would definitely make it up to them next time I go in. Yes it's pricey but the quality and quantity is upto the mark. So I don't mind paying little extra price than the other restaurants. I save it for a special day and would not make it a regular place. Trust me, Being a vegetarian and an Indian this is one of very few places in GTA with such good food quality. It does tastes like made by a professional chef than some unskilled labour working part-time to pay off his tuition. Yeah I know! That sucks. They gave complimentary tomato basil soup in shot glasses. It was yummy. Not too tangy nor sweet, Just right! This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the GTA. Great ambiance, great food, great service. The restaurant interior is stylishly decorated: nice furniture, fancy tableware, mood lighting, etc. There's a glass wall separating the dining tables from the kitchen, and it was cool being able to watch the chefs cook. The servers were very friendly and prompt, and they gave us good recommendations for food. We ended up ordering the Aloo Tikki Trio (very good), the Tandoori Chicken (good), the Lamb Rogan Josh (excellent), and the Fish Vindaloo (good but quite spicy). As a side, we got garlic naan (tasty), and as a desert we got the Beetroot Halwa (unique - good, but I'd prefer something different next time). We split all of that amongst just the two of us and left very stuffed. You probably could get by with one less appetizer and/or no dessert and still have more than enough food. We did the sensible thing and ordered a bunch of different dishes so we could share. - Chicken biryani - Lamb Biryani - butter chicken - chicken tikka masala - salmon tikka - non vegetarian mixed platter (various apps) - garlic naan - eggplant curry Overall everything was pretty tasty - the tikka masala I think was probably the best dish. The biryanis were also pretty good and the eggplant curry had a delicious spicy kick to it! The biryanis came in pots with a naan like bread covering the tops. I've never seen it presented that way so it was interesting. The service was a bit slow, but we were a larger group. Also the kitchen is see through so we could tell our naans were being made fresh. At the end we ordered masala chai ($4). I'm sorry but I'm not sure on what planet this is masala chai. The fragrances of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves etc, just weren't there. Save your $4! All the hype. Does it live up to it? So I pestered my friends to drive all the way to Markham to try the swanky new Indian joint. We arrived at 6.30pm on seemingly busy Sunday evening. Interiors are done in a trendy fashion so enjoy them, you're gonna pay for it. Now, now. Its not bad by any standards. So hold on to your horses. The best part about Adrak is their cocktail menu. I love having perfect cocktails with Indian food because its a rare thing to happen to you. Kaala Khatta is the first cocktail on the list and its absolutely fantastic. The squeaky tangy flavor of Indian Tamarind is dominant and it flourishes in your mouth long after you've taken a sip. Starters: Next best part. The Galouti Kebabs which I had been dying for were made to perfection. Soft, moist grounded meat which melts before you even try to chew on it. The Tandoori Platter is pretty standard but again, perfect! Last but not the least, Shrimps! Man O Man, what a relish. Have you tried Jumbo shrimps which were crisp and soft at the same time? Now I have. So, why did I start this review with a sad face? Main course! Although nothing wrong with it but it did not appeal to my Indian palates. Plenty of colors but it was as if they were afraid I'd sue if the main course happen to carry a punch. Punjabi Daal Makhani and Chicken Lababdaar both were quite mild in flavor. Malai Kofta could have done without generous turmeric. Maybe it was my bad luck given that day they were out of Lamb, Goat and most of the desserts on the menu. I'm pretty sure about it because when I ordered another Pista Kulfi, they said I had the last one in stock already! I might be back when someone wishes to throw me a treat. Looked around and saw the dining area wasn't even busy at all, the staffs were either standing there or just walking around, idling. On an amusing note, a self-described "greatest mixologist in the GTA" arrived at our table and didn't hold back on sharing his extensive qualifications. I'm not sure he's the best fit for this business but I can't blame them for trying. Our extremely attentive server earnestly recommended the most expensive dish in every category and urged us to order "alcohol" a few times. With a little practice he'll likely find a lighter touch wins more hearts and minds. OK, this place is a bit pricey. But I did get a good order in. I'm guessing the review rating at 3 maybe a bit low. I had the paneer Tikka Masala and the lamb Naan. The curry was very flavourful, rich for sure, but that's how it's supposed to be. The Naan especially was good, the filling was a well cooked and delicate meat. UnLike many other places fail to have the right proportion on the meat to dough ratio, the chef got it bang on! Even the edges had the stuffing and that was great to note. The paneer was soft, veggies crunchy and a great roasted taste of the tandoor. Would definitely consider coming here again. I went to Adrak for my dad's birthday dinner on a Tuesday night around 8pm. The restaurant was empty except for one other group so there was no wait to get a table. We started off with apps: Aloo Papri Chaat, Potato Tikki Trio and Masala Fries. They weren't amazing. The tikki trio was supposed to be three different preparations/flavours of aloo tikki but tbh they all tasted the same. The masala fries were good for a crowd but it was just normal french fries dusted with parmesan cheese and served with mango chutney to dip. Nothing special and either of those are definitely not worth $9. The chaat was good tho, with pomogranete seeds and thin strips of beets on top to garnish. For mains we ordered: Shahi Kadhai Paneer, Cabbage Manchurian, Kashmiri Aloo and Malai Kofta. My favourite was the manchurian, hands down. It was seasoned really well with a sweet spicy sauce and all the pieces were nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Paired with garlic naan, it was amazing. The kashmiri aloo also had an amazing cream sauce that had the right balance of sweet and spicy. Portions are decent for the mains but naans are priced individually which is odd.
