I cannot thank one of the store attendants, Max, enough. My husband and I came an hour before closing with a terrible scratching sound on our front windshield when the wipers were going. Max not only came out of the store to check on our car in the rain, but helped us diagnose the problem and find us a temporary solution. Thank you SO MUCH, Max!!! read more

First of all, my receipt says "9" New Paltz Plz not 10. The receipt is wrongly listing the address because the web verifies this address right from the Advanced Auto Parts site. When I knew I needed oil for my car and knew I had a rebate gift card to spend, I knew I had to come in to get some. I knew about Tops (Friendly) Markets being connected right next door and had something that came to New Paltz this evening and stopping for food at McDonald's just down the block (appearing like right next door though these aren't connected), I actually did stop in. Now, I hate comparing Advanced Auto Parts to its competitor but I have to here. I noticed several similarities between the organization of Advanced Auto Parts to AutoZone in Kingston and I almost couldn't find the oil I was looking for. The oil I was really wanting to buy (Mobil 1) was rather expensive at more than $11 per quart (size container), and I had a set amount on that gift card. I ended up pulling a Valvoline oil (of the same weight/viscosity) off the shelf instead because it was cheaper. I wasn't happy about making that replacement. However, after picking out two quarts of that stuff, up to the register I went. But as I was going up to be checked out, a register employee bypassed me - thinking he'd help me find stuff - but when they realized I was coming, they knew I was ready. I placed my stuff down and had them ring it up. Now, during the transaction, after the employee asked for a phone number (for their rewards number which I didn't know if I had or not) but I don't know if it was his problem or not, but as I mentioned my number, he inputted the number but the computer didn't pick up the first two numbers of the last four of my phone number. The employee said he'd been having problems with register 4 inputting numbers incorrectly, but I don't half believe that. He rang me up, after finding I didn't have a rewards card yet. I didn't feel I wanted or needed one from here. (We'll have to see about that in time; I'm not too crazy about the Advanced Auto Parts brand, and my closest one has some awkward hours and the other ones don't have enough parking and aren't in the best spots in two different towns/cities on both side of the Hudson River.) There's a lot of places where gift cards and rebate gift cards aren't to be swiped at the card terminals on the customer end. However, when I first handed this employee that card, he swiped it there without a problem. I just got confused about that. Now, I don't get down to New Paltz too often - maybe once a month (I was last down in New Paltz on Halloween, but outside of the Tops Markets which I last shopped at in 2017 once, I don't get into this Plaza all that often. The store was clean, but the parking lot was rather disorganized. I ended up parking way down - far away from the Advanced Auto Parts door. It's got this mazy one-way, and I found what I thought was the best spot down that first row (which really wasn't). read more

Do not come to this location if you expect them to help with anything that would require them going to your vehicle to check it. They supposedly have a "New Paltz Town Ordinance" against them so all they can do is wiper blades. They cannot deliver on their company promises of checking batteries (only if you can bring the battery into the store!), alternators, check engine lights or anything to those matters. As someone who has a car who is on it's way out and needs small things to keep it going until another car can be purchased, this is ridiculous and infuriating. This place is bigger inside than it looks on the outside, so it does mean the inventory is decent. Just don't rely on some of the in-store devices to work well, such as the windshield wiper "machine." The floor's a bit cluttered here, but that's maybe because the staff are too busy being friendly and helpful. read more

I have been to many Advance Auto stores and the one in New Paltz is the WORST. They are still in business because they are the only auto store in town. You are far better off ordering what you need online and have it delivered. The "order online and pick up in store" doesn't work at this store because they never have anything I need in stock. I went in there today for the LAST time. I bought 2 cans of carb cleaner because the sign right on the item said "buy one, get one free". When I got outside and checked the receipt I was charged for both cans. I went back in and told the manager and showed him the sign. He removed the sign and told me that the sign was in the wrong place and that it was my responsibility to check the item # with the number on the cans. I returned both and said adios. read more

This location has the best staff I have ever come in contact with; Alex, Kyle, Michelle and joe to name a couple of employees, have been so helpful with getting me the parts I need to get my car back on the road! Contrary to what another reviewer said, you CAN get your car checked, you just have to borrow or rent the tools to do so. This is an auto parts store, not a mechanic. They cant magically fix things for you but they will give you anything you need if you would like to do it yourself. I highly recommend this store the staff is excellent, the parts are quality and their store has a great selection of things in stock AND the ability to order most parts if they are not in stock! read more
