If you want to pay good $$ for absolutely nothing, Trugreen is right for you. I had them for over 5…read moreyears and my lawn got worse and worse, and I'm not one demanding perfection by any means. My lawn developed bare patches after a year or 2. I put down topsoil as they recommended, and watered more than I'm allowed by ordinances. Things somehow continued to worsen. So, eventually I called them asking to only apply spring fertilization and winterization. 1st person said this wasn't an option, so I asked to cancel. Got a call back saying that was a mistake, and they would be able to accommodate my request. This was in August 2025. They didn't show for winterization, and then I got a mailing asking me to please become a customer again. I didn't know I wasn't before that communicae. I decided to handle it myself. I wanted to farm this out, but I got no benefit from Trugreen. I again applied topsoil to bare patches and fertilized with Scott's Weed and Feed. I still water religiously and my lawn is already far greener, and thicker overall. The bare patches have been covered by grass by about 75%. This is from late March 2026 to date, late May 2026. Honest to the good Lord, I didn't get anything positive by hiring them, and they somehow fired me as a customer. CANNING ME ACTUALLY WAS A POSITIVE, SO I GUESS THEY DID SOMETHING RIGHT AFTER ALL. In all my 50 years, never have I ever paid so much to get such negative results in return. My sons have had a far better ROI using various claw machines, hoping for Mario plushies. ********Update********* Out of morbid curiosity, I contacted the email below. Apparently, they have a guarantee! However, since I requested to reduce to 2 applications per year, it doesn't apply to me. That, and the fact it's been so long since they fired me. Had I been eligible for the guarantee, they would have applied more grass killer at no charge. Protip Trugreen: Don't advise an angry, former customer of a lame guarantee for which he doesn't qualify. What was the point of that? I wasn't pissed off enough for ya? It's akin to poking a bear with a small stick.

We needed someone to come clear our driveway after this week's blizzard, and Lou made it happen…read more His team not only cleared our single-lane driveway deep enough to fit 3-4 cars AND made sure that our utility shed was accessible, they also cleared out space in front of our house for our garbage pails to be collected, and salted all the way around the corner (we have the corner lot), and cleared out a pathway to the crosswalk that heads toward the train station. We hired them to do the driveway. The rest of it was purely pride in the service they deliver. I have never seen such amazing attention to detail in a landscaping/snow removal company before. They're beyond the best I've ever seen - they redefined what "the best" should even be. Lou's team is on our speed dial from now on when snow is in the forecast, and they're probably going to be our new landscapers too! Just fantastic work!

It takes a tremendously poor experience for me to write a 1-star review for a lawn care service of all things. I have attached screenshots of my text conversation with the owner as evidence. 1. On 6/25/25, 2 weeks after my first lawn service, they texted me to tell me they would service my lawn that day. At that time, my grass was still short and I did not need a service, so I asked if they could come the following week instead. THEY DID NOT RESPOND. 2. I followed up on 7/7/25 asking again if they could come that week. Again, NO RESPONSE. I checked in again on 7/8/25. Again, NO RESPONSE. I checked in again on Monday, 7/14/25. They finally responded, saying they will be able to come out sometime during the week. I thanked them but did not hear from them again. 3. Since they had told me they would be in the area that week and I hadn't heard from them, I gently texted them on Wednesday 7/16/25 to follow up. All I wanted was to arrange a date for them to come, which I think is perfectly reasonable as I did not want to miss my opportunity while they were in the area. Moreover, I had not heard from them since the beginning of the week. The owner then responded with an erratic, nonsensical tirade after DAYS OF RADIO SILENCE abruptly accusing of me not "staying in line with their schedule" and thus they could no longer do business with me in the future. It should be noted that they somehow expected me to know what their schedule is - how am I supposed to know when you're in the area if you don't TEXT ME BACK? Up to this point, I have been extremely communicative, flexible, responsive, and had not demanded they service me on any specific date. I did not require them to come on any specific date, and was open to them coming whenever they were available. All I wanted was for them to tell me a day and time when they could come out. After being the ones who failed to communicate properly with me for weeks, (as evidenced by the lack of response in the screenshots), my perfectly reasonable request to schedule a service was met with disrespect and confusion. Moreover, as much as I hate to dog on someone's literacy, his texts hardly made any sense or gave me insight to what his grievances were as a service provider.

In November 2023, I called them, and Anthony (manager and co-owner) came over to assess my lawn. He spent 45 minutes with me going over my needs, but since it was approaching winter, nothing could be done at that point. In particular, Anthony identified a weed that my previous lawn care provider could not treat with their products. Overall, I was very impressed with his professional and courteous demeanor. Absolutely no hard selling whatsoever. Even after the on-site visit, Anthony answered a few follow-up emails from me. In April 2024, I contacted Heroes Lawn Care again, and Anthony remembered our conversation. He was willing to make a second visit to my lawn to review the current situation. A few days later, Anthony sent me a quote for the lawn services I needed that was very competitive. It took me 2.5 weeks to respond back to hire them, but Anthony was still able to honor the quote. I hired them for my lawn care, and slowly, the lawn started to come back from its sorry state. The summer, however, informed me that I need a sprinkler system. I called them for a sprinkler quote, and Anthony sent back a quote shortly. It was notably very competitive compared to other vendors I checked with. The sprinkler system they had is computerized, so you can program the watering schedule, and if connected to your internet, it can check the weather and adjust its water schedule. There was a parts problem with the sprinkler system after installation, and I diplomatically contacted them. They sent their technician to fix the problem without any hassle. In spring/summer 2025, the sprinkler and lawn care have kept my lawn green and the weeds are not sprouting as often. Lastly, I grew tired of using wood mulch, and started to switch to rubber mulch, but I only had so much time and stamina to place mulch myself, so I asked them to give me a quote to finish what I started. The quote was reasonable, and Anthony took the time to explain the costs. The crew came, removed weeds from the areas that needed rubber mulch, placed the mulch, and did clean up work. Our landscaping area is no longer overrun with weeds and looks tidy. I would still highly recommend giving Heroes Lawn Care a call for your lawn care.
