A few years ago I was telling my nurse at another DR. Call Dr. Vance. So for another month or so I dialed his number..so I'm looking at the phone and I said who dialed the number? I made the appointment and I still didn't know who dialed the number. I got there I was shaking, shaking I mean scared. Dr. Vance looked at me he said I can see how scared you are with just exrays. I made it through with Dr. Vance and his beautiful nurse. And so my journey began. I had not been to a dentist not even to take someone for an appointment. Y'all I was to scared to cry. Dr. Vance I had never met anyone like him. My appointment was in the afternoon and for him to still be as wonderful as he was still just wonderful. And I can't remember the beautiful caring nurse name. She helped me so much. Y'all I knew this was going to be a long process. If Dr. Vance could see my fear and make me feel at ease for just pics of my rotted out teeth. I remember I was trying to get food and chewing and teeth breaking as I'm eating. Sooo many years of people staring at mumble nasty comments. My family didn't treat me no different. But I tried to distance my self from the staring and this kid I was working at a grocery store and I would hear his song all I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth. I suffered silently and I hated me because I was a coward and I wanted to be brave. But God say peace be still. After Years of being afraid of going back to the Dentist , I finally mustered up the courage to make an appointment with Dr. Vance Based upon the Extraordinary Reviews. He did not disappoint. I was super embarrassed, but Dr. Vance didn't judge me at all. What was even more shocking was that he was able to get started right away. I am happy that I found a dentist to restore my dental health back to where it should be. This is hands down Best Dentist in Birmingham. Dr. Vance and his Staff are Extremely Friendly and Accommodating. They make you feel very comfortable during your Entire visit. I 10/10 Recommend going here. read more

I had a great first experience at AdVance Dental today! Being new to the area, I wasn't sure where to start for my dental cleanings. However, I'm very happy with my choice as the staff were very friendly and welcoming! My dental hygienist, Wendy, was especially kind and patient with me in answering my questions about my dental health which I really appreciated. Wendy and Dr. Vance even pointed out a few things like some wear on my teeth from grinding my teeth which I wasn't even aware of and past dentists never mentioned! They both gave me helpful advice on how to take care of my teeth moving forward after my appointment and I will definitely be coming back to them for any dental follow-up! read more

Engineer turned dentist, Dr. Vance is amazing. He has a state of the art facility, caring staff, and a gentle chair-side manner. He has great hours - after 5 and one Saturday a month and can get a person in short notice. He has done everything from cleanings to repairing a root canal on me in the 8 months I've lived in the area so I speak from experience. read more

I received a bill that stated it was 90 days past due..here's the thing it's my FIRST bill and it states PAY IMMEDIATELY in caps! I contacted the office and left a voicemail..no one called back I waited two more days and called again, no answer and I left another voicemail. I don't know where this charge came from because there is not a date on it for service nor does it say anything regarding my insurance. I love the dentist, I always have. I'm a total weirdo. But TRUST ME when I say that AdVance Dental is the absolute best dental experience I've ever had. Located in a medical suite building (Building #1) at St. Vincent's, the parking is the most stressful part of the experience but, have no fear, they comp you for the parking cost immediately when checking-in. The check-in process is easy and personable. They are a high tech office so all patient documentation is digital (which I ADORE) and even if you didn't use their online form for your history, you can use a computer of theirs to do it upon arrival. The second person that I met after the receptionist was Dr. Vance who greeted me personally and talked with me for a solid 10 minutes prior to me even being in the dental chair. The dental hygienist, Deb, also greeted me before I was in the examination room and we started a really nice conversation that persisted through the whole visit. After understanding my history, dental worries/goals, etc, I got a thorough X-Ray + cleaning from Deb. Again, their office is all digital so the X-ray was digital (no film) and was projected on a screen in the room. The cleaning was awesome and Deb perfectly balanced thorough cleaning with gentle-hands. I'm usually a little sore post-cleanings in the crevices of my mouth (from someone pulling my mouth wider) and at some gum lines (from all the sharp instruments)... not this visit! After my cleaning, Deb was even kind enough to walk me through the whole X-ray and help me interpret it too... cool! Dr. Vance offered the same when he came back in and spent time listening and responding to both vain and health concerns that I had. His chair side demeanor is seriously one of the best I've ever experienced in a doctor... I never felt rushed, misunderstood or brushed-off. He made sure to address each and every one of my concerns and offered workable solutions and advice. I left with an appointment for a cleaning in six-months and a smile on my face! My insurance (Southland Dental) covered my visit in full but this office also has a cool program of in-office insurance. The gist is that you pay a set amount (~$250/year) and get two cleanings/xrays + some price breaks on additional work if you need it... please seek the website if you are interested in this as I am quoting from memory when I saw it, briefly. I think it's a really cool service and may help those who don't have insurance budget for oral health... which is super important for overall wellbeing! read more

I have been using AdVance Dental for a couple of years now, since my long time dentist retired. I tried one in between but I am so glad I found this practice. Dr Vance and his staff are excellent. I would not hesitate to refer them to any of my friends or family. Last April, just as I was about to leave for Israel, Dr Vance tried in vain to save a tooth that I had been neglecting for years. He ended up staying late one evening extracting it for me when I couldn't get in to see my oral surgeon. This helped save me from a miserable time in the Holy Land. I really appreciated that. More recently he replaced two very old fillings that another dentist told me would have to be crowned. They look great and were considerably less costly than crowns! I still don't love coming to the dentist but it isn't as bad when you know you can trust the one you have chosen for your care. read more

Until yesterday I was an anti - dentite ! I have never gone to the dentist for any procedure with out being in a great deal of pain due to my TMJ . Most dentists don't care as long as they get paid but your pain afterward is not their concern! Dr Vance made it a totally different! His office is set up for comfort and he is prepared to go the extra mile to keep you from hurting!! I not only recommend him I have made appointments with him for my family and friends! A genuinely great experience at AdVance Dental. The dentist, Dr.Vance, runs a very nice, well equipped modern office that is comfortable and accommodating. Most importantly, the skill of the staff and the dentist was very high, so there was basically no pain. I've run the gauntlet of dental procedures (bridges, root canals, etc.) and I can honestly say, the dentist here was wonderfully careful and skilled in avoiding any pain. Since physical discomfort is usually the part we all hate most about going to the dentist, I felt I had to write a review about how painless it was there. I have been visiting Dr. Vance's dental office for about a year now for two cleanings, a crown, and a night guard. The office staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Dr. Vance, himself, is very thorough and professional in his practice. I have been incredibly pleased with both the dental care that I have received and his very competitive pricing. With my crown, I had some complications (like destroying my temporary a couple times). Dr. Vance and his staff were very quick to respond to my emails and calls, and they worked me into their schedule to get my temporaries fixed the same day that I reached out. Moreover, Dr. Vance himself even called to follow up on one of my procedures. That kind of patient care is hard to come by anywhere. If you are new to the area or looking for a new dentist, I would recommend giving AdVance Dental a shot! read more
