If you've ever walked into an electrical supply store and started asking questions they'll pretty much throw you out. Advance solar is not there to tell you what you need. They are there to supply you with what you need. You need to do a little research first you can't certainly expect them to tell you what you need. I would also recommend when calling them be very specific about what you want and tell them to hold onto it cause they do lack in customer service at some respect, but they are extremely knowledgeable and have what you need. You shouldn't go into any business, expecting them to explain to you how things work. That's just being lazy on the customers side. read more

Well, I've never been treated so badly by a business owner in all my 60 years of adult life. Yes, Advance Power, has probably the best and biggest inventory of alternative energy equipment in the area. However, when I attempted to seek help from the owner regarding a set of batteries I bought there, he responded with unrepeatable name calling. I was shocked that any responsible adult would behave in such an immature and negative way. The employees are fine and helpful; just don't interact with the owner. read more

Finding a reputable and competent solar installer was a daunting task for me, until I discovered Advance Power. Click on one ad for solar in a Google search and you're inundated with sales calls. Digging a bit deeper, I found that some of them were total scams. Finding that many solar customers were happy with their installation but were left high and dry when it came to repairs, I decided to go local. The first, and actually well known company, was incapable of following through with my order, even though I was paying cash. The next local installer, who was recommended by a friend was really hard to communicate with, and wanted what seemed to be too high a price. Then I walked into Advance Power and met the owner, Pete. His warehouse was stacked to the ceiling with solar components. I could tell that he moves a lot of product. Although he's extremely busy, he took the time to discuss various options for me to consider. We followed up with several emails. After researching the components he recommended, I was pleased to see that they are cutting edge and highly rated. Pete followed through with each appointment. His tractor operator (I went with a ground mount system) did a great deal of extra work for me that was absolutely beyond my expectations. I ended up with a far superior system than the previous installer offered, and for the same price! Pete has arranged to drop by on several occasions to make sure that everything is working as it should be and to assure my satisfaction. He's been especially patient by answering my myriad of questions via email. I couldn't be happier. One caveat, he only installs ground mount systems. read more

Good as it gets for being a bad business. Yes, I give it 5 stars because yelp will not show negative reviews easily. Bad because the salesperson with a Scandinavian name has an attitude like he is the customer, instead of the other way around. But more importantly, he, or they (the business) promised me to do my solar installation, but that it would be approx 3 weeks out. I waited 4 weeks, never heard anything, and called only to be told by the same man, that, "yeah, he (the installer) is busy and will still be another few weeks out, at least. Sorry" My mistake for assuming it was a normal business. read more

Had a poor experience with one of the employees. I asked to see what 48 V inverters he had for sale. He responded very quickly how many watts do you need? When I did not know the answer he wanted to get rid of me quickly. I know I am new to solar energy but why treat me with a poor attitude and zero patience. I will look else where to purchase my new solar system. read more

Don't bother doing business here. After numerous emails and a phone call, I was told they were closed last week for inventory, but they would be open Monday (yesterday) and they did have the batteries I wanted at the price listed on their site. After a 3 hr. drive, I arrived and tried talking to the clerk but was interrupted by 3 phone calls that he felt he HAD to rush to take. I was then told the batteries were sold. He said it was first come first serve. I totally understand, but if I had been told that on the phone, I would have given my credit card so that the batteries were sure to be there when I arrived. I assumed when they were closed for inventory, they had an inventory. Don't make a long drive and expect anything from this business. read more
