My daughter and I used their court-ordered supervised contact services for 3.5 months (January 2025 - April 2025), with total payments of over $11,000 (it was up to $570 per visit). THE ABRUPT & UNEXPLAINED TERMINATION: In April 2025, LifeCare unilaterally terminated our services. Crucially, this decision was made with no prior warning, no specific reasons provided, and no transition plan for my daughter. This abrupt cessation caused her significant emotional distress and directly interfered with ongoing Family Court proceedings. This conduct appears to contravene Australian Consumer Law (ACL) obligations for services provided with due care and skill. LIFECARE'S REFUSAL TO ENGAGE & FALSE ACCUSATIONS: Following the termination, I submitted a formal complaint (May 2025) seeking clarification and resolution. In response, in June 2025, LifeCare issued a damaging (it was sent to the ICL and OP Lawyers) 'cease and desist' letter. In this letter, they not only refused to engage with my complaint but also falsely characterised my legitimate attempts to resolve issues (e.g. resolving confusion around an off-site visit due to their supervisor's error) as 'threatening behaviour'. This response feels like a punishment for simply asking questions and seeking clarity on their service delivery. The false and damaging nature of these statements, especially given their dissemination to the ICL and other legal parties, prompted me to issue a formal Concerns Notice under the Defamation Act 2005 (Qld). UNACCEPTABLE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY: LifeCare has further refused to provide CCTV footage of our visits, despite it being my right to access personal information under Australian Privacy Principle 12 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Their refusal, without valid legal grounds, is highly concerning and prevents independent verification of interactions. SYSTEMIC CONCERNS FOR VULNERABLE FAMILIES: Our experience reflects what I believe are systemic issues within some children's contact services, particularly concerning transparency and client rights. The financial and emotional harm caused to my family is substantial. LifeCare's service agreement containing a clause allowing termination 'at any time' without reason, which I believe is an unfair contract term under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), puts families in an extremely vulnerable position. This approach deviates significantly from the professional standards expected of an ACCSA-affiliated service and disregards a child's best interests under the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld). LIMITED POSITIVES: Facilities were generally clean. Staff were mostly professional and punctual for scheduled visits. MY ACTION TO SEEK ACCOUNTABILITY: Having exhausted direct avenues, I have initiated formal legal and regulatory complaints, including a Concerns Notice under the Defamation Act 2005 (Qld), and complaints to ACCSA, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), and QCAT. The first thing I noticed was the flooring: black and white tiles that made the converted house resemble a giant chessboard. The clinic has a very feminine vibe; you'll find fancy upholstered furniture, and a gorgeous old bathroom with Aesop products inside. Most of the psychologists were women, but I saw plenty of male patients (even some tradie looking types) who looked comfortable in the surrounds too. The receptionists are all stunning young women who are lovely, professional, and constantly offering top ups of tea or coffee. There is also a dish of Allen's lollies at the desk (very important), a good stack of reading material, and a play area filled with toys for the children of patients and child patients.

I've had two sessions so far, and while I'd definitely consider it a work in progress, I am noticing an overall improvement in not only the primary issue I sought the treatment for (severe lower back pain) but in my total energy levels, attitude and a lasting effect of balance. I'm even noticing I'm eating less. The students are fully supervised and their supervisor comes into the sessions regularly to check that all is going well. I'm yet to feel in any way uneasy about the students that have practiced on me. Don't stress. I'm getting to what you all want to know. The needles? Honestly? I don't feel them. Sure you *know* they're sticking a needle in you but do you feel any pain? I'm told it is different for everyone but, I personally, haven't felt anything more than a quick prick of the skin. Once they are all in it actually feels like a nice current is washing over you. A calmness if you will. The sessions can take a little longer as they are student practitioners and they begin each session with a short Q&A and sign-off from their supervisor. They will be charging hundreds, Naturopathy, aromatherapy, massage, acupuncture.... And way more that I didn't read, all as cheap as chips. Seriously, I can't talk it up more. The students that run clinic are professional and know their stuff, I'm currently in my third week for dietary analysis and the guy that is working with me is top notch, he explains things to me simply, and he doesn't let it get awkward even when he has to ask personal questions. The massages are not just the oily, waste of time massages that you get at a lot (A LOT!) of places in the city, they are actually about improving you physically, fixing pain or dealing with the neck problems from cramming at your desk all night. I love a bargain and I love my health, so this is my new happy place.
