Incompetence. The first word that comes to mind when I think of this office. Aside from what everyone else says about the office wait times and staff being just plain rude I've had a pretty terrible experience with this office. I began seeing Dr. Lanzone for a workers compensation case, and have nothing but negative things to say about him or his office staff. On my first visit they wrote me a note for work and never filled out the required forms for the workers compensation board. This cost me hundreds of dollars due to negligence on the part of their staff. My job informs me that the paperwork hasn't been handed in and that the note is not sufficient for a workers compensation case, you'd think somewhere as Advanced as Advanced Orthopedic would know how to fill out the paperwork for workers comp right? So I'm in pain about a month and a half after my first visit and am told to continue taking Tylenol which was what I was told to take my first appointment. I have 3 pre-existing herniated discs, and now a shoulder and knee injury. If Tylenol was helping don't you think I'd be at work instead of having the misfortune of seeing your staff once a month? When I bring this up I begrudgingly get a 5 day supply of medication and a referral to pain management. I haven't had an MRI done, or any tests other then an initial X-ray at the hospital, and no diagnosis. Pain management won't address my injury with out supporting documentation. My next visit I see some PA who finally apologizes and insists that the paperwork will be filled out properly and submitted (spoiler it was only filled out from that date forward, not the month and a half earlier when they first wrote me a note for work). He then gives me a run around about it being illegal for them to write me another script, that after 5 days you have to see pain management. This is a lie, an out and out lie. The law is that a 5 day supply is the maximum length of time an initial prescription can be written and then must be reevaluated, I only know this because after how they screwed up my paperwork I was forced to get a lawyer. I waited another month for them to get approval for an MRI to be told that I have to wait for my jobs insurance carriers vendor to contact me. This is also false, the doctor is supposed to contact them and have them contact me. As of the date of writing I have had approval for over 2 weeks, but have not been able to have one done because of even more incompetence from this office. I make an appointment to discuss my concerns and the PA shows up again, gives me the wrong contact info for the previously mentioned vendor and then when I request more pain medication until I have the MRI done and am able to be seen by pain management I get treated like some junkie off the street. Finally lanzone decides to come in and tell me about how he finds it "concerning" that ibuprofen and whatever other NSAID is not helping pain from an injury that is 3 months old and has had zero treatment done to improve the condition. What's concerning is your lack of empathy for your patient, what is concerning is your offices lack of accountability for their incompetence, what's concerning is how your office isn't even capable of writing a satisfactory work note, and knowing it's a workers comp case not filling out the correct paper work, what's concerning is your lying to a patient's face as opposed to telling them that you feel a particular medication type isn't appropriate, what's concerning is that your office is still in practice. I saw a Dr.Acampa years ago for my back, guys a complete ass who is full of himself and thinks he's God's gift to the world but he was a good doctor. Had to see the dr for my wife with a possible [mcl] injury. This is the same knee hurt 5 yrs ago. So we see the dr SAHI and as the visit went on it was clear to us that if we didn't agree to therapy first, we wouldn't be able to get an mri.So I interjected and said to him that the knee was hurt in the past and my wife had been feeling that the knee was going to give out over the past 2 weeks. So [he] reluctantly ordered an mri and said see me after you get the mri[in house by the way] The tech assistant walks in and hands this paper to us like a snotty little brat,so I asked her " I thought we were getting a knee brace prescribed by the dr,and with a look of disgust she turned and asked they getting a brace.You had to have been there to feel the dissatisfaction we received from a so called professional.i mean to tell my wife that you looked at the xray from the hospital and see nothing.Ok why didn't this dr, pull up the xray in the room with the patient? I have had 2 surgeries from this practice starting when Leon Finklestein was in charge,and that man nor his staff would EVER treat a patient with such disgust!!!! we are going to look for a new ortho dr. 1 more thing the dr said that sat wrong with me is that he says "most insurance companies won't authorize an mri without therapy first. Well sure I guess that's correct if you own the therapy company you prescribe patient too[$$$$$$$$] to the staff at advanced ortho I HOPE THIS GETS BACK TO YOU AND THE STAFF,CHECK YOUR ROTTEN ATTITUDES AT THE DOOR! I've been to Dr. Finger, Dr. Schwarzbard and Dr. Kleeman. All three of the Orthopedists are really friendly and very helpful to their patients. I broken bones several times and injured my knee and seen all 3 of these Doctors at different times. They are all very very Professional and take their time with their patients. The Physician's Assistant that works along with the Doctor usually sees the patients first and All of the PA's there are very caring, friendly and very knowledgeable also. The Medical Assistants are also very caring, friendly and Professional and Knowledgeable and very Helpful. The Office Staff and Receptionists are all very friendly, caring, Professional and Knowledgeable and very Helpful with anything you need. I'm proud to say that Advanced Orthopedics in Patchogue is the only place I will ever go for any Injuries I have. I never have to wait more than 10 minutes to see my Doctor. It's also a very clean waiting room and plenty of comfortable seating. Everyone in the Practice works together as a team and that's what makes them the Best Orthopedic Practice Ever!! We were very fortunate that our 15 year old son broke his wrist at a JV game that Dr. Ritter was attending. He set the wrist on the field and we then went to his office later on. At that time, Dr. Madoff reviewed the x-ray and then reset the wrist following the x-ray. All during this time, Trainer Michelle, stayed with our son to help reduce the stress of the whole broken wrist event. She was kind, empathetic and funny and helped our son endure the resetting process. The overall staff impressed us as being very available to assist the patients and or family members with any needed notes for school, insurance carriers, etc. They helped us deal with a traumatic event in our son's life with a true level of professionalism, courtesy and support. We would not hesitate to use their fine practice again, and would feel very comfortable to refer our friends and family to them for treatment! read more

I have been to many Doctors over the past many decades. Dr. Barry Kleeman is by far the most professional, courteous, intelligent, straight to the point Doctors I have ever met! My recent visits to him for a torn calf along with many other visits for other issues and he is always right on the mark with his diagnosis and plan of corrective action which is superb! The Medical Surgery group he belongs to treats and repairs many different injuries and conditions! There is nobody better then them! On October 20th I had a motorcycle accident that left a spiral fracture in both bones in my lower leg and a shattered ankle. I was taken to Riverhead Hospital were it became obvious that I needed the care of a surgeon with advanced abilities. Doctor Barry Kleeman was given the task. The decisions he made and the operation he did was truly amazing. Today 2/24/2020 I was released from his care, my injuries mended. My leg was never really in pain after the surgery. This is the worst office ever ,rude staff they hung up the phone on me so many times while on hold knowing who was calling got no call back. The front desk supervisor is an idiot dosent know how to talk to patients.The Doctor i seen didnt help me much they lie and say they specialize in hips and they dont. My daughter recently had surgery by Dr. Ritter. We have been to the office several times. Dr. Ritter has spent time with not only my husband and I but with my daughter explaining things to her. He made her feel comfortable, let her know what to expect before and after the surgery. His Physician Assistant, John, also has a great bedside manner. I brought my son in to see Dr Riiter recently. They gave me an appointment for the very next day. I didn't have to wait long (mostly to complete paperwork). I am very very happy with the care we received. The staff was actually very friendly and I had no issues at all. I liked that my son was able to get his crutches and boot right there instead of having to travel to another place to get it. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone. read more

The hand surgeon that treated me was very knowledgeable, spent a lot of time explaining my condition and treatment choices, and cured my pain! I have something to say. My mom broke her wrist this morning they took my mom right away the doctor was very nice and he was gentle with mom. I have used Many of these wonderful doctors for my children and myself! The staff are wonderful and very accommodating. We have seen Dr Schwarzbard and Dr Ritter, whether it be a broken bone, fracture, early onset arthritis, they have given us every option and have been kind and caring! Rude customer service when you call they answer the phone by saying please hold and boy do you hold for a long time.
