Making an appointment was also super easy as they can do it over the phone for you. Additionally I feel like they were not trying to upcharge me for any other shots or treatments that wasn't needed. I was very disappointed with my experience. My senior dog needed a quick procedure while our regular veterinarian was closed, so I called this clinic hoping they could help. I explained the situation, but was told they were fully booked and could only provide the phone number of an emergency veterinary hospital. That said, we are actually going to the same vet for exactly the same reason, and I have personally seen a great deal of compassion from them. They are closed on Sundays and only open a half day on Saturdays, which can make urgent situations challenging, but my experiences with their staff have shown that they genuinely care about the animals they treat. Another perspective is that many pet owners feel emergency hospitals can charge dramatically more than regular clinics, making them seem like a rip-off for relatively simple procedures. I understand that clinics have schedules and capacity constraints, but I was surprised that no effort was made to accommodate a senior dog in distress, even for what appeared to be a brief procedure. Every time we come in, they make us and our pets feel really comfortable and taken care of. Everyone is so kind, and great at explaining things without making it overwhelming. During a nail trim, we were told one of our dog's nails had been cut too close to the quick. Shortly after, he started limping and unable to potty as he could not bear any weight on it. We brought him back because we were concerned, and instead of feeling like anyone was interested in getting to the bottom of it, it felt like the priority was making sure the clinic wasn't responsible. The doctor examined him and couldn't even pinpoint where the pain was coming from, yet somehow old age or a mysterious neurological condition were immediately brought up. Funny how those explanations only seemed to come up after the possibility that the issue might be related to the nail trim. What was most frustrating was their refusal to even consider the most obvious explanation: our dog began limping immediately after they admitted cutting his nail too close to the quick. Even if it wasn't the nail quick, and maybe a pulled muscle during the nail trim, this tells me they did not handle my pet with care. The staff I interacted with acted like she couldn't have cared less. No empathy, no concern, just attitude. Also tried to make us get an unrelated blood panel because $$$. Instead of compassion and accountability, we got excuses, indifference, and a clear sense that protecting the clinic mattered more than addressing our concerns. I never leave reviews, but I felt like I had to this time. When it comes to our pets, we're leaving them with people we trust, and we expect a little compassion and kindness. Everyone at the clinic was really nice except for one receptionist, Kelly (the one with the stretched ear piercing). She had an attitude, was rude, and cut me off while I was trying to ask a question. It just didn't sit right, especially in a place where pet owners are already feeling a little anxious. The rest of the staff were great, which made Kelly's behavior stand out even more. The staff was very kind and compassionate. Our 10 year old dog hurt her leg. Took her to her regular vet (Crocker on Jackson Ave). They did a quick exam, no bloodwork, and sent us home with Anti-inflammatory pills. Instructed must be taken with food. Our girl stopped eating and I couldn't give it. Called back and they had zero appointments until the following week! I called Advanced and got an appointment same day. Unfortunately our girl didn't make it. The staff spoke with us in a gentle & caring manner despite not even knowing us. What a shame Crocker did not treat us the same. And Advanced is open 7 days! This is how we found Advanced Vet. Over the past 2 years, we have taken multiple cats from this same house to Advanced Vet (a few of them have had many visits), so I can confidently say this practice and the people who work there are absolutely amazing. The staff has always, always been so kind, compassionate, and so willing to help. This practice seems to be very busy and when we have any issues and call to get one of the cats in quickly, they are always willing to work with us to try to see the cats as quickly as possible so they can be taken well care of. Between my husband, the man who now takes full care of these cats, and me, we all have the most positive experience when it comes to this practice. We've seen quite a few people there over the years, and everyone has been awesome. In particular, Jeric and Dr Vu consistently go above and beyond with us, and are just the nicest and most caring people, we just love them. I recently transferred my dog from another practice and it's been really wonderful to have clinicians who are so good to my pup and listen to our concerns in depth. I used to feel dismissed and rushed in our previous practice but my visit today was so thorough and my experience has been great so far. Initially, I was nervous about bringing my 3-year-old toy poodle for the procedure because he had never undergone anesthesia before, and I had heard frightening stories about dogs dying under anesthesia. I scheduled a consultation, during which the vet suggested a blood test to ensure Brownie was healthy enough for anesthesia and to identify any potential issues. The blood work confirmed he was fit for the procedure. A week later, I booked the dental appointment. Although I was still anxious, the staff reassured me that Brownie was in safe hands. The team at Advance Vet was friendly and seemed to really care about dogs. They took excellent care of Brownie, thoroughly and safely cleaning his teeth. His breath smells much better now. We were looking for another VET Clinic to take care of our cat Toast.. I googled, I yelped and found Adv Vet Clinic. I was able to book in time for Toast yearly exam and recommended injections for a cat. Unfortunately Toast is a big cat and not friendly, she's not used to people and I'm so happy to find the doctor and the staff who gladly took care of Toast treat her, checked her and sedate her with care in order to give the necessary shots and check up, trim nails and all.. Toast woke up perfect and she went home happy, with no complications, she ate good and back to normal health, we are very thankful for the care, and definitely will be back to this clinic for Toast future VET needs. Yes! I tried this vet for the first time last year. I used to go to Warm Springs Pet Hospital in Fremont. But it was so difficult getting appointments when we needed it. So I went on Yelp and gave this place a try. Summer (Cavachon) and I are here to stay!! Dr. Flock is amazing!! Caring, patient, knowledgeable! Dr. Vu is also just as amazing! And their prices are a lot more reasonable too! I definitely recommend this veterinarian and give them a big thumbs up. Aiden and Patricia at the front desk are so friendly as well. If you're a pet parent, then you have no say at this clinic. As Shan, the manager has told me, the surgeon can choose the method of operation for me even in NON-LIFE THREATENING scenarios. I brought my 9lb dog in for a TPLO surgery to repair her torn CCL. I had researched this procedure, discussed it with staff, and signed consent forms specifically for TPLO surgery. After the surgery, I was informed they had performed a lateral suture procedure instead of the TPLO I had consented to. No one contacted me for permission to change the procedure. When questioned, the manager Shan simply stated that "surgeons have the right to do what's best." What's most concerning is that CCL repair method is typically determined pre-operatively. This was not an emergency situation or an unexpected finding during surgery that required immediate action. The decision between TPLO and lateral suture is a planned choice that veterinarians discuss with pet owners well before surgery. Multiple studies show different long-term outcomes between these procedures, which is precisely why I made an informed decision for TPLO. I've since called several other veterinary practices, and they all confirmed this is NOT standard practice. Every vet I spoke with emphasized that the surgical approach for CCL tears is discussed and decided BEFOREHAND with the owner, not changed mid-procedure without consultation. This only reinforces that what happened was inappropriate. I'm not questioning the surgeon's expertise. They may think that the lateral suture is better for my dog, but the overall consensus on many studies is that a TPLO is the gold standard for both small and large dogs. I made the decision for a TPLO. I signed waivers for a TPLO. I was not told that there were alternatives and I DID NOT choose alternatives. Shan, I am grateful that you agreed to care for Lexi post-operation and cover the costs of any potential issues. But we both know this could've been prevented. It is something that SHOULD'VE ran by me. The rest of the staff there are wonderful people who has been extremely helpful and good to my three dogs for many years. But this recent experience has been a nightmare. I have escalated this to the Veterinary Medical Board as Shan has suggested. If this has happened many times before as you have said Shan, then why was I not informed of this potential issue beforehand? I encourage everyone reading this to learn from my experience or suffer the same consequences. read more

After going to many different vets throughout the years, we finally came across advanced veterinary medical center in 2023 because we needed to find a new vet that can help us with Charlie's newly diabetes diagnosis. We couldn't be any happier we found Advanced. The staff here has been AMAZING. They are everything you could ever ask for and more! They have always showed Charlie, Tobi, and Aoki so much love and affection, and have always been so kind and compassionate about everything / anything that may be going on with your fur babies. I never feel like I am pressured to do anything I am not comfortable with in comparison to many previous vets. They don't ever try to upsell me anything, and always try to find a more cost saving method when available and that is something I truly appreciate. We left Charlie's previous vet because he created a lot of fear in us with managing Charlie's Diabetes (Which now that we are almost 2 years in - it is definitely not as scary as the previous vet made it seem. It can be hard at times, but it is definitely manageable. To all the pawrents, please know diabetes is not a death sentence for our babies and that you got this! Charlies quality of life is still the same thanks to advance. ) Charlie's old vet also tried to pressure us to get him a dental when he first got diagnosed right off the bat, and that was my signal to seek for a new vet and I am so glad I did and managed to find advanced through yelp. Here at advanced they will NOT do a service for your babies (such as a dental under anesthesia) if they do not feel that it is safe. To put into context, Charlie at that time was a 11 year old chihuahua with tons of health issues aside from his newly diabetes diagnosis. I truly believe that switching over to advanced has not only lengthened Charlie's life, but potentially it might have even saved it as well as and for that I am forever grateful for their staff/ for advanced. Thank you for always putting our fur babies interest first even if theoretically it means that you may lose out on the money from a dental service. Thank you for truly caring. I always feel confident Charlie, Tobi, and Aoki always will receive the best care, and I know they are in great hands. We've been to countless vet visits over the past 2 years, and every visit has been nothing but amazing. Special shout out to Jeric for always being such a joy to see as his energy is always so radiant. The receptionist staff is also so kind! Every time I step inside, it always warms my heart how nice everyone is. All the doctors are also so informative and kind. I've been going to AVMC for a few years now, but truly the experience has only gotten better ever since Dr.Vu joined the team. My bulldog Polo has been through SO much with constant visits, issues, surgery, and multiple post surgical complications. It was a rough few months getting through the surgery and all the complications, but the team here really helped us get through it. Dr.Vu is supportive, understanding, explains everything to you clearly, and genuinely cares for my pets and the owners too. She answered every anxious thought and concern and never made you feel bad/sorry for it! She's been the star of the reviews lately and she really deserves it. The tech staff is amazing as well, they all know Polo by now and treat him like their own pup. They yell his name everytime he walks in and it relieves a lot of anxiety knowing that he's in wonderful hands. Special shout out to Patricia and Kelly who I speak to most often! Even the management worked with me to cover expenses when we kept having complications with his healing process. It seemed like they really wanted to make it work and help out how they can. For the past four years I've taken my cat for his vaccine and rabie shot along with the annual blood test and vet bills are not cheap with additional cost as much as several hundred dollars more. I have a scheduled appointment this morning so it wasn't too busy best time is to bring your pet on a weekday in the morning avoid coming out here on a Saturday fully book and pack. I noticed they have a new staff that were not here last year must be quite a turnover. Well.anyway while I was out in the waiting room they gave my cat a complete examination gave him special type of flea kill ointment and a silver sulfadiazine cream. I can see they take good care but with the rising cost of vet bill I might consider going elsewhere and they're not even opened on Sundays.
