I recently tore my right shoulder, and was referred to Advantage Physical Therapy, by my attending doctor. I had, I believe 11 visits and felt like they really cared about me, I was divided among, two therapists, but all of the therapists there, were amazing! They always greeted me, happily, when I walked in, some knew me by name, that didn't even work with me. They were always interested about my progress and my pain levels. I thought was nice, if I was feeling extra pain, I received a nice therapy/massage session in that area, which was nice and much needed. They seemed to really care, sincerely. I was in and out in the allotted time, but never felt rushed. In fact they always spent plenty of time with me and made sure of my progress; both negative and positive. Ultimately I have to go in for an MRI and my doctor was thinking of changing to a different physical therapy, post*op. I was quick to tell him "no, please, I would like to stay with the same business...". Praying I don't need surgery, but if needed, I will be back for my recovery. On another note, I loved how we could watch current and previous Olympians performing, on tv, in the waiting room. The other clients were familiar to me too, as I began to know them, visit after visit. When I started with Advantage I was not only having back, hip and knee pain, but I was also having major fibromyalgia symptoms. The front desk greeted me in a way that absolutely made me feel welcome. They handled me with great care and really listened to me. Stephen was my first therapist and he's amazing. I also see Ashley. I couldn't have picked two finer, more caring people. My progress is wonderful and when my body feels better, so does my mood. This business has changed hands since Blayne ran it and it has gone seriously downhill. It feels like an "exercise mill" to make money. Little personal care. Therapists handling 2 clients at a time and leaving one client to do exercises alone. Supposedly inquiring emails about progress which are ghosted. Their treatments made my condition worse as they (Colin especially) was not aware of how to treat 70/80 year olds muscles. Do not go here. read more

I love this physical therapy group. They all work so well together from the front desk to the physical therapist and then the physical therapy assistance. Everyone is always so cordial and so professional, but yet still personable. I have made great strides. I had my shoulder replaced and I have to tell you I was very nervous about physical therapy. I was afraid it was just going to be nothing but pain. And I'm not saying it wasn't painful or hasn't been painful. But I'm saying they all know when to stop and how far to push. They're very good at what they do and have helped me to recover quite well. I'm not 100% and I hope to continue with them. I'm a very slow healer and my doctor told me it takes at least 6 months, sometimes a year to fully recover from a total shoulder replacement. read more

I'm 91, and at the end of April 2025, I pinched my sciatic nerve because of a fall. I was in constant pain when walking, sleeping, and sitting. I had to use a walker or a cane to get around. Prescribed drugs did not help. Visits to the chiropractor only helped minimally. After almost three months of constant pain, and inactivity, I began physical therapy with Colin at Advantage in Ventura. He did a thorough evaluation of my situation, put my body through various movements, and we decided on a course of exercises. I had sessions once a week, and he added exercises each time. After three sessions, I already experienced marked improvement. I continued to do my exercises faithfully every day, improving each week. Today, September 4, 2025, was my last session, and I am pain-free with total freedom of movement. My review is based on billing. Please be aware of how they bill the insurance company. I should have listened to another yelp review and done that myself. Between my husband and I we went there 4 times. Yes, I did not meet my deductible yet but we were charged $172 out of pocket for each one hour visit. Total of $514.45. I needed physical therapy for a torn meniscus. Originally chose Advantage because I remembered meeting the owner years ago. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and met Miles. He asked me what my goals were and what I hoped to accomplish. As a former athlete, it was important for me to know my goals were achievable and looking out for my best interest as well. Since then, I've been pleasantly surprised with my progress and attribute this largely to the great work of both Miles and Trevor. I never thought I'd be able to do squats again and they have both already helped me accomplish that goal. I have nothing, but compliments for the staff here including Kai and Jacqueline. I was forced to have my therapy for a serious nerve issue there and they were horrible. I had a different "therapist" nearly each visit, and they were not certified, licensed therapists, merely therapists in training. they called and harassed me to come in more frequently and failed to submit my insurance change as directed. they then attempted to ding my credit, for which they are now being sued. as proof, i am still receiving treatment - from the same insurance that provided my visits to "dis-advantage" therapy - and we have made great progress in my condition with a reputable, skilled and fully licensed therapist. i also receive acupuncture, also approved through that same insurance. i worked as a case investigator for the public health institute and changed insurance for 14 months - helping to slow the spread of covid-19 - and both insurance companies approved my treatment. advantage was just too greedy, irresponsible and and inefficient to submit when and where they were instructed to to do so. this company is the reason why health care costs are so high. they never considered my true condition or previous injuries and actually made my condition worse. they are all about money and not professional, in either their treatment, or in their conduct apart therefrom. read more

Had to get a pre employment assessment and couldn't have had a worse experience. They lied consistently were hostile, sexually harassed me, refused to acknowledge disability, didn't give me chances to say no and violated my HIPPA rights at least twice. I filed two complaints. Went to advantage after a work related injury and have had the most amazing experience. My PT, Danielle, is absolutely spectacular. Her knowledge, humility and bedside professionalism are top-notched. As a retired professional athlete, I have worked with some of the best trainers and physical therapists in the world, and I've found Danielle's techniques/skills to be on par. I'm sure there are many shared qualities of a great physical therapist, but if you're looking for a PT who is compassionate, knowledgeable and astute, then Advantage Physical Therapy might be the place for you. I can say I was one of those people that grumbled at the idea of having to attend PT. I wanted an insta-fix for my back injury that occurred in late February, so when my physician assigned me to PT I thought life was going to sting that much more. I admit I hated it at first I was given routine stretches, where I thought my Therapist wanted nothing more than to make me some sort of contortionist. The first 2 weeks I was on a 24/7 grumble fest when I left the office, thinking that the results weren't coming fast enough, and these damned stretches no matter how hard I tried would frustrate me. But I had 4 more weeks to go, and I played them out til the end. Talk about a complete attitude change. Lisa was my primary therapist and she was incredibly wonderful and encouraging, keeping on me about doing my stretches outside the office. I cannot thank her enough for doing that, the more I did them the more flexibility I gained as well as the less pain I found myself in. Thanks to Lisa not only do I appreciate mom's more, cute little lady is near due to have another little one and still working hard with silent grumblers like me, I also appreciate and value stretching. I would have never thought it would have such an impact to helping with my injury but it did. I owe many many thanks to the entire staff. Each with their own personalities and equally wonderful, friendly, hard-working, and dedicated (this includes the two lovely ladies at the front desk as well). Had you asked me 2 weeks in I would have shrugged my shoulders and not thought twice about this place, but after 6 weeks I can say I would recommend and go back if ever needed. read more

It hurt to stand, it hurt to sit, not a good thing.... especially having a career where you are on your feet 8 hour out of the day. My back got so bad that at work I used a cane to help me get around (very bad for a person in their late twenties) Went to the doctors who gave me 4 different type of meds (I hate taking pills) After a few months finally got referred to Advantage Physical Therapy!!!! This is as good as it gets! Defiantly the place to come to if your in pain. They took their time no rushing me in and out, strength trained me, they are kind & considerate. Medical fraud alert: this company (and others) seem to be using car salesmen techniques to seduce the costumers into paying extra $$$ for fake therapy procedures that have not been requested by your doctor, an example of one of the services they offer to unsuspecting patients is "cold laser therapy" which is not covered by any insurance company because, well, it does not work at all, it is a gimmick, snake oil would work better than cold laser therapy Don't let them make a fool of yourself. There is a good reason why your insurance company does not cover these "amazing" new procedure. If it sounds too good to be true is because it is a scam. Be warned of Advantage Physical Therapy "extra" services. Always, get advice from a real doctor and make sure your insurance is willing to cover your treatment before you give your hard earned money to any crook. read more

Seniors beware! Miles is a good therapist but totally ruined my 89 year old husband - recovering from cancer treatment - with overly aggressive exercises. It is now 18 days later and he still has a severely sprained hamstring in glutei have gad to acquire a walker for him. Doctor was appalled at description of what Miles requested of him. During the session my husband performed all double sets with no pain. They iced him after the session. Four hours later,at home, he was unable to walk. I called in to cancel future appointments and asked for Miles to call me .. he never gave me that courtesy. That was most galling. I had wanted to caution him so that he did not injure other oldsters by overestimating their capacity and telling him to SLOW DOWN. Balance and strength are recoverable but only with slow and patient work. So if you go there be aware of your limitations and make them go easy on you. read more

*I must admit that my review is about 2 years old, so you might take that in consideration whilst reading it. However, at least part of it is relative to the business culture/philosophy, which I would be surprised to hear had changed. My overall impression of Advantage Physical Therapy is that their primary goal is not the healing of their patients, but to make money. The therapist that was assigned to me had a very flat affect and obviously just doing his time. I recall that, as is the case in most health-care environments these days, I had to insist on care (that I received heat) before the treatment was received in order to reduce pain, despite having complained previously. I had the distinct impression that this was because it would take more time to accomplish. I also noticed little progress after many weeks and was generally unhappy with the service I was receiving. When I visited the referring physician, he stated that the PT was purely elective and that my condition would get better on its own, so that if I was unhappy that I could try going without, or that he could refer me to another PT service. So I cancelled my remaining appointments. Then began the phone calls. I was being hounded by them despite my telling them I wasn't interested in their services anymore. When I spoke to one representative, she told me that my doctor had said that I needed to continue therapy, contrary to what was said my last visit. I immediately called the physicians office and was informed that they had communicated no such thing. I suppose there are many different explanations as to why I had the wrong information communicated to me, however I felt deceived. I have told several individuals that they should avoid Advantage, and the referring physician said that he would not be sending patients their way any longer. read more

My experience has been always exceptional. My first visit with them was 14y ago after a cervical fusion and credit my positive recovery to their very personalized care. I am now seeing them for a different issue and still have the highest regard for the care and services that I am receiving. ALL of the staff are always upbeat and attentive. Apparently if you reschedule an appointment, it's counted as a missed appointment. I had to reschedule two of my appointments and missed one. I'm told by their customer service people that I can't make an appointment anymore because I had three missed appointments.She said something about it taking so much time to get ready for the appointment the night before, and that this was their policy. Now I'm having to check every day and see if there is a cancellation in order to be seen. If this was their policy, I should've been made aware the first or second time. read more

Back in May I could hardly use my left arm so my Doctor (internist) had an MRI done and told me as per the results from an MRI that I had that I had a rotator cuff injury and tear in my tendon. Prescribed Physical Therapy so I went hunting for a good place to go. I picked this place because of their professionalism when I called to make an appointment. They asked me questions regarding my condition, Insurance and were very professional. The other place I had called just made an appointment for me and did not ask any questions at all. I choose Advantage Physical Therapy I choose correctly. They have been great. My therapist Lisa while mangling :) my shoulder (to make it better) is a delight to be around. The PT assistants - Michelle, Jamie, Brian, Brent, Katie and Katlin all are great. Theresa as my PT sub when Lisa was out was wonderful to work with as well.. They are all a team and it shows in how well they work together. Jessica and Johanna at the front desk are always friendly and upbeat when you arrive and leave. When I first arrived I could barely move my arm. Within two weeks Lisa had made it so that my arm was 50% better. However, the Therapy did not seem to be fixing the issue. During the 3 months I was at physical therapy my Husband, Mother- in- law and even Lisa suggested that I see an Orthopedic Doctor. I resisted because I was sure that who ever I went to see would want to do surgery, which I do not want to go through. I finally gave in and went to two different specialist who both just took xrays of my shoulder and diagnosed my ailment as bursitis. I have had two cortisone shots within the last 3 months and that has helped. Bottom line - Positive: I would definitely go back to Advantage Therapy Negative: Never believe the results from an Imaging Center and if you can see a specialist go for it. read more

What can I say other than the staff is top notch from the reception to the PTs! They took quite a bit amount of time doing the initial assessment of how I stood, walked, moved to determine what the best course of action was. I learned so much about myself in 30 minutes. After only 3 weeks, I am not only not experiencing pain any more, but I hit a new personal record in lifting today! All because the exercises I was doing in the PT sessions activated muscles I was not using before. Don't have any regrets choosing Advantage as my PT. read more

I am utterly disgusted at what happened today. I received great treatment for vertigo after being diagnosed with labyrinthitis, inflammation of a nerve in my inner ear and had 4 treatments in March with a recovery. They had let me know that I have 4 treatments left and I can use them over the next year if needed as my DR. had prescribed 8 treatments. I have had ENT issues all year as a result of the virus I had and developed TMJ which is related to my other condition. I was told that my insurance does not cover therapy for TMJ even though I have terrible headaches, neck pain and I still have problems with pain inside my ears from the original virus. I went in for an evaluation today and the physical therapist indeed did confirm that my TMJ is related to my other problems I had and I would have to contact my DR. and ask they submit for neck pain and have at least 6 new treatments prescribed. So, I was sent home in pain today with no treatment even though I have 4 treatments sitting in their office. I have been dealing with TMJ for over 4 weeks and now I am delayed with treatments. These people are a business and about making money. They want the prescriptions and the patients to keep coming back. The system is broken. I was sent home today in pain with 4 treatments sitting in their office which is all related. read more
