I had put this procedure off for more than four years because I was nervous about having it done. If anyone is feeling the same way, I hope my experience gives you some reassurance. From the moment I checked in until I was discharged, everyone was kind, professional, and attentive. The pre-op area was comfortable and private, and every member of the team treated me with genuine care and respect. Before surgery, Dr. Castillo, the nurse, and the anesthesiologist each took the time to verify my name, birthdate, the procedure, and the correct surgical site. Every staff member who came into the room repeated these safety checks, which gave me great confidence that they took patient safety very seriously. The surgery itself went smoothly, and my recovery was far easier than I expected. I had very little pain, only minimal bleeding, and Tylenol was all I needed afterward. He also told me what else I could do, and that I can keep on drinking clear fluids up until about . . . a time in the morning, and made other suggestions of other drinks that will be OK to drink. It was all pleasant and helpful, and hoping I have a good rest evening. The staff and the 2 nurses I have, were all pampering me, to make sure I'm calm, warm enough, and comfortable, and went on with their chores. They were all professional, and kind to me, as expected. My doctor stopped by, to talk with me, and reassured me, we're ready to go! By the time, I woke up, it was all over, was given juice with a straw (I picked cranberry), and I was escorted out to my car, waiting in the lot. (Hubby didn't come to the door, to pick me up, he was waiting for someone to notify him). Basically, I have to find him, across the parking lot, we saw him first, before he saw US! The next morning, after having a visit with my doctor, right as soon as I got back to the parking lot, I got a call from Plaza ASC, to ask if I had any symptoms, vomiting, etc. I said: None! But, what was painful more, than my cataract (no pain here), was the tape on my forehead being ripped off from my hair, as if there were lots of hair that was being ripped off. It was called a 'follow-up'. Other than that, all's well! Thank you for taking care of me! BTW: I found a surprise Thank You card, signed by those staff & doctors, who took care of me. NO ONE, had ever written a thank you, to me, when I should be the one THANKING THEM!
